    A fun and educational class
This babouch making class is the highlight of our trip! Khawla, our guide, and Youssef, our instructor, were wonderful people to learn from. Youssef was a very kind and knowledgeable teacher, we had an amazing time learning to make a couple pairs of babouch slippers. We started by selecting the leather for the slippers and throughout the process, we had a lovely chat over tea and cookies with Youssef as well as Khawla. The steps were also clear and straightforward for anyone to follow. Answers to our questions about the details and the inner workings of the babouch making/colors were also presented in detail. Overall, we really enjoyed our workshop.

    Brass workshop
The craftsman and his assistant were kind and helpful. The craftsman was very knowledgeable about his craft and the assistant was happy to translate. We were just concerned that whilst we'd understood we were paying for a half day workshop this was actually little over an hour and involved relatively little. We each cut out a 'main de Fatima', which we filed down and hammered slightly. As such it seemed very expensive for what we did.

Great learning experience with Moroccan master mosaic craftsmen minutes from the Jamaa el Fna.
What a great way to spend a day! We took the five hour zellige mosaic workshop and now have a deep appreciation for the skill and strength of Morocco’s tile craftsmen. The master craftsmen who taught us were patient, kind, and informative. They praised our attempts at their craft with respectful good humor. And the translator who accompanied us throughout was a delight. The workshop was at the Marrakech Ensemble Artisnal, an easy pleasant stroll from the Jamaa el Fna. We each came home with a small handmade mosaic that we helped piece together. A great way to remember a unique learning experience.

    Amazing Pottery Class!
We very much enjoyed our private and unique pottery class! It was a great cultural experience. Our translator, Kamy was wonderful and very informative! Although we could not communicate much with our pottery teacher, Mr. Mohhamad, he was very kind and sweet. He even made us tea and cookies half way through the class as a treat! We had a lot of time to make MANY different pottery items! I was impressed! Afterwards, we had time to paint a few items as well. If you would like to keep your items, make sure you do this pottery class first and stay in Marrakech for 4-5 days. We had moved on to Rabat, but the owner of the company was so kind as to ship the items we made to our hotel in Rabat so we could bring them back to Canada with us. All in all a great experience that we will never forget. Thank you very much!!!

A wonderful, intimate learning experience - with lovely people.
Our hotel recommended Ateliers D’Ailleurs as a great resource to learn local crafts - and we selected Arabic calligraphy (my wife and I both have creative backgrounds and we felt this would be a learning experience to broaden our skills a little!). The organisation has a wonderful ethos; providing out-of-home employment for young women as interpreters alongside experienced craftspeople who sometimes don’t speak anything other than Arabic or Berber. The combination worked perfectly - as our calligraphy teacher spoke a little English and French but was otherwise able to provide instruction through our superstar interpreter (and guide!) Kamar. Tuition was sensitive and well-structured, introducing fundamental skills first, before combining them into writing our names in Arabic. Wholeheartedly recommend this 3hr workshop - which was conducted in the craftsman’s home, adding a lovely authentic dimension to the experience.

The best way to learn Tadelakt application
My name is Nikolaos and I am from Rhodes, Greece. I followed a 4 days Tadelakt workshop at February 2022. My purpose was to apply Tadelakt myself to my bathroom and frankly at first I was skeptical about the whole thing because I am not a professional and I didn’t know whether the course was just for touristic purpose. Well, I found out that it was the exact opposite. The workshop was very professionally organized and they really mean to teach you well. Abderrazzak, the manager, was very easy to communicate with, we had arranged everything before I arrived at Marrakech and everything went out as he had told me about. He arranged transportation from the riad I stayed to the workshop place, he put in charge for me a young woman, Imane, who spoke excellent English, did the translation and knew a lot of things about Tadelakt herself ( she corrected me every time I was wrong or lazy) and she was very pleasant to discuss with. Zachary, my teacher and Abderrazzak (the master maalem) who supervised us, were both very patient, encouraging and friendly and did their best to make me understand their techniques. They made me do a lot of practice in ceramics at first ( I took two of them back home) and in wall application afterwards. I did flat and curved surfaces, and corners, and they fully explained all the steps of the way. Overall, it was a great experience, i learned a lot of things, I enjoyed working and talking with these people (it is a travel experience), and frankly I felt very privileged to share the knowledge and techniques of these skillful craftsmen in a country so rich and admirable in arts and crafts. As for my bathroom, Abderrazzak helped me take some bags of Tadelakt home, and I am very proud for my work. Of course I am not a professional, but I really think I did a good work, thanks to these people. Thank you Ateliers d’Ailleurs, totally recommended!

Ateliers d’Ailleurs provides the chance to explore every side of Morocco
There is so much more to discover beneath the surface of Morocco, and Ateliers d’Ailleurs provides that. It was truly wonderful meeting the artisans and learning about their crafts, traditions, and culture. It definitely gave my trip to Morocco more depth and insight.

Highlight of my time in Marrakech
I did a woodcarving workshop that was WONDERFUL. The assistant spoke very good English. I learned a lot about the process of carving from a very skilled craftsperson. I ended up with two souvenirs at the end and lots of hands-on learning. The class lasted longer than the given 3hrs and included lots of conversation - both about woodcarving and other topics! I really enjoyed it! It is a unique way to experience the craft.

A highlight of my time in Marrakech
This leather workshop was one of my favorite memories of my week spent in Marrakech! It was very organized and highly interactive. I did not realize the many steps that are involved in crafting a pair of slippers and it gave me a new appreciation for the craft and those that make them. While there were many steps involved in making the slippers, the instructions for each step were clearly communicated and easy to follow. For someone that did not have any experience in this craft, my slippers turned out great. I highly recommend this activity to anyone who is looking for a unique and authentic experience during their time in Marrakech!

    Brassware workshop 5h
I attended the Brassware Workshop and i am satisfied. First of all my personal assistant Ms.Afra was lovely. She translated everything so I could ask the Craftsmen all my questions and we talked a lot. Mohammad showed me how to do every step, and then I could practise on my own. Also the easy and quick reply of the company I appreciate a lot, as I booked the class very spontaneously ( 2 days in advance)

    Disappointed, No Value for Price
We recently booked our trip for this pottery workshop and unfortunately didn’t learn much. Our potters at the workshop did not speak english, and the guide/translator that we were provided only translated but wasn’t able to provide any value in teaching us anything related to making pottery. We were at the workshop for 4 hours total and spent only 1 hour in the clay making pottery without much direction. The cost was incredibly high compared to other workshops offered in Marrakech, and if I had it to do all over again - I would pay less than half the amount (Paid $177 USD for 2 people).

    Unique experience!!!
One of the best experiences ever! It's so much fun to learn the art of pottery, Mr Mouhammed is a really good and patient teacher. The insights I got into this little village of artisans was very unique and interesting. It was also very well organised, I was picked me up at my hostel on time and brought me back. Absolutely recommended, I loved every minute of it!!

    Welcoming Experience
We booked the pottery course via the website and were very happy with the swift and friendly booking service. Our local guide (who spoke impeccable English & French) picked us up at our Riad and explained a lot about the activty. Further, our hosts and his sons were very skilled and very friendly. Next to the activity, we also had a good conversation about the local culture which was a nice extra as I was not the most skilled participant :)! Thank you very much for this lovely day!

A jgreat jewellry making class in the medina
I booked this jewellery class through the Atelier d'Aileurs website. We loved it! It was in an old fonduk in the Medna and we had a translator (she was lovely) and 2 craftsmen. We spent 4 hours cutting out our designs from some metal and all made lovely pendants. We loved the chance to talk to the crafts people and really enjoyed ourselves!

We had a wonderful experience with Aicha and Abderrazzak making the lamb tagine with prunes, aubergine salad and Moroccan bread. A way to learn how to cook authentic dishes, the best tagine that we ever tasted!
We also learned how to pour the mint tea and got plenty of helpful tips. I would highly recommend this class!
