Overview
Nestled in the High Atlas Mountains, just a 150 km away from Marrakech, the Cascades d'Ouzoud is one of the most remarkable of the natural wonders to be found in the Atlas mountains. These 110-meter waterfalls, the highest in North Africa, are inspiring in their majesty. This day trip departing from Marrakech will allow you to explore the paths to the bottom of the falls take you through the groves of olive trees and offer many fine views of the falls and their surroundings. Follow other paths to the top of the falls where you can see many grain mills (from which the falls get their name), as well as an astonishing view looking down on the cascades.
Highlights
  • See the Ouzoud Falls in comfort on a minivan day trip from Marrakech
  • Explore the river valley and admire the falls from every angle
  • Swim beneath the falls and meet the monkeys that gather in the area
  • Enjoy a boat ride and relaxing lunch (both at own expense)
  • No navigation worries with a guide to help you make the most of the falls
What to Expect
After pickup from your Marrakech hotel, travel east in a minivan through rural Morocco to the Ouzoud Falls.

On arrival, walk through olive groves owned by generations of Berber farmers and descend to the gorge below the waterfalls. At the base, stroll by the river and marvel at the three-tiered falls, which cascade into a pool. Take photos and, if you wish, enjoy a swim in the cool waters and an optional boat ride (own expense) close to the cascades to feel the spray.

Afterward, step ashore and visit one of the cafes or restaurants overlooking the river for lunch (own expense). Finally, climb the steps back to the top. Pause on route to see the falls from various angles, watch for the rainbows in the mist, and meet and feed the monkeys that gather here.

Your trip then finishes with a drop-off back at your hotel.

The waterfalls are spectacular. More time to explore by yourself would have made the trip better. Also I nearly cancelled because they told me so late where I was being collected from. Guide Ibrahim was excellent too.

Amazing waterfalls and landscapes, very good guides who are informative and attentive. However, the tour groups are way too large and felt like cattle being herded. The restaurant we were taken to was horrendous food and way overpriced. (This is not included in the price)....More

We were picked up at the hotel and driven down in a small mini van. When we arrived we were met by Ibrahim which was just wonderful. He was funny, knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable. The place itself is beautiful and a must....More

Good thing we snacked up and brought our own as roadside snack stalls are expensive for travellers on budget. We got a glancing witness of Berber lifestyle, tenacity and culture. A must trip but lavatory facelities could have been better.
