Ships of the desert took us across the sandy sea
It was time to catch the sunrise as we were awakened by the smell of rich coffee in our desert tent-camp. After a quick breakfast, we boarded our 4 x 4s to voyage out into the desert where we met up with Said and Aboud, two Berbers who owned a herd of camels. They were members of the Toureg tribe (associated with their blue garments and known as the blue people). We met and mounted our trusty steeds, also known as ships of the desert and ventured forth across the wavy sand, crossing dunes and enjoying views from on high. We were out for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before returning to our Toyota and Jeep 4X4s for a traditional glass of mint tea. A fantastic time was had by all. 731000594

Breathtaking glimpse from The Thousand and One Nights
We had a really good time here and everything went according to plan. The travel from Marrakech was be a bit tiring for some, you better bring a book to read and good music. Anyways, the comfort offered by the glamping tents on the edge of the dunes of Erg Chebbi were worth the journey. We just loved this camel ride desert experience and got fascinated by the starry night. Amazing food. Recommended.

          Wonderful
we did both sunset safari and sunrise safari for 150 MAD each. It was for about 1 1/2 hours each. The camel owners will take you only about 4-5 kms inside the sahara from the main road. However if you are a die hard fan and have time and are ready to bear the sun, I think doing a safari till deep inside would be good though we did not have time to do that. The 1 1/2 hours safari which we did in January end 2017 was a really awesome experience. Must do for travellers. It was really cold early morning so you need to wear proper clothes. Another option which we saw many people doing and we thought was very nice is that people walked till the sunrise point in the morning and walked back. So maybe if you are okay with walking in the dessert and have enough time you could do one walk but hey...camel ride is an awesome experience so can do both sunrise and sunset

          Sand dunes
One of our favourite activity “camel ride” wondering like a caravan of berbers across the barren desert amongst sand dunes.

A not to be missed experience in Morocco
This place is awesome the accommodations and food and staff is worth every stars, it is first class and not to be missed if in Morocco. THE ROOM beautiful furnishings, clean, working AC, very comfortable. THE FOOD delicious home cooking by Berbers, presented family style with love and care. THE ENTERTAINMENT was so awesome and all guests were invited to take part in music and dance around a camp fire. THE CAMEL RIDE not to be missed, you will see the beautiful sunset and you will be invited to ride in the morning to see the sunrise.

          Noisy beyond belief
The desert is beautiful but full of motorcycles and quads. There is a lot of noise 24/7. If you aren’t into noisy machines, avoid this place

          Mass tourism
Well... My opinion on this place is contrasted... On the one hand, the desert is an amazing place, and you really get to see beatiful place with nice landscapes. On the other hand, this place is almost to accessible. The consequence is that you will not experience the desert as a place to find calm and peace. You will see lines of camels walking in your direction, many quads drinving like crazy. And if you look behind you, you'll see one camp next to the other... This is mass tourism and I did not expect that to be so intense here!

          Beautiful desert
The desert is beautiful and worth the long drive from Marrakesh, especially if you haven't been to a desert before. I'd advise against going from June to August though, if it can be avoided, because of the heat. Plus, the summer months are supposed to be the time of year when you're more likely to encounter snakes and scorpions in these regions of Morocco. We travelled in mid-June and the heat was bearable, but certainly not pleasant (around 38 degrees). I saw no snakes, though I did see one scorpion in our camp at night. The staff removed it from the premises of the camp and nobody got stung. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep that night.

          An Unforgettable Trip
It was the most wonderful trip I could have done in my week's holiday. Day1 we left early visit Ait Ben Hadou and the Todra Gorge. . The film studio in Quarzazete. Stayed in Kasbah Tussna which was excellent. Day 2 was visiting the town of Tinghir, walked in the valley. Learnt about the Berber culture and carpet waving. Right in time at Merzhouga for the camel ride and the stunning sunset. And settling in some Glamping. We also had the full moon that night where the desert was beautiful. Couldn't resist walking at night into the desert but stayed close to the camp. Had a meal which they unfortunately got the numbers of vegetarians wrong. Did some sand surfing in the morning before the looong drive back. Would advice a four day trip to break the long drive back. A very big thanks to our guide and driver Hussene and the lads at the camp.

          Amazing colors
Our driver took us to the parking area where a lot of activities are organized for the dunes and like some of the other reviewers mentioned there were small kids begging, lots of vehicles and the usual tourist bazaar that you could expect. We were met by a young guy with two camels and he led us out to the dunes where we were able to enjoy the late afternoon taking photos and watching as the light changed on the dunes. The colors and texture of the dunes were spectacular and we took a lot of fantastic photos. Before the sun went down we rode the camels to a camp and we were the only guests because the tourism sector hadn't fully recovered from the pandemic closures. There was a fire waiting for us and the room was quite nice with a private bathroom and a very comfortable bed. We had dinner and the hosts played us some music before we went to bed. In the morning we woke up early to see the sunrise and then had breakfast. They gave us the option of riding the camels back to the meeting point or taking a Landcruiser and we chose the Landcruiser because the morning temperatures were cold. Fantastic trip.

          Highlight of my solo travels
Highlight of my travels around Morocco. Hassan our guide was amazing, full of fun and kindness. As a solo female traveller I never felt alone and met beautiful people on the trip. Travelling over the the Atlas mountains was breathtaking and there was lots of stops for photos, the bathroom and food so the journey didn't feel so long. There were some tourist stops where we were introduced to the plants and agriculture in a Moroccan village which was fascinating and also locals trying to sell their wares which was all part of the experience. The accommodation was excellent and I have posted photos of my room, the food in the hotel was also really tasty and the staff so welcoming and friendly. When we arrived at the desert we travelled to our accommodation over the sand dunes on camel, what a wonderful experience I felt like Lawrence of Arabia or a connection to a time gone by. The tents we stayed in were warm and huge with ensuite shower and toilet and electricity. Again the food was great and in the evening we sat around a firepit underneath the vast sky and bright stars listening to the guys play morroccan tunes and dancing, Hassan our guide was also playing instruments, singing and getting us all in the mood for a dance around the fire, his vibes are happy vibes and a pleasure to be around. From the accommodation we climbed into 4x4s and sped up and down the dunes, it was so much fun and delivered back to the tour bus exhilarated and ready to begin the drive back to Marrakech. I recall the tour with wonder and affection and would recommend 100%. Next time I would go for longer, there's a lot to see in 3 days. The weather in November was quite chilly at night so pack something warm and if you want alcohol stock up from the shop enroute as the accommodation does not sell alcohol but it's fine to bring your own. Definitely worth the money, book and enjoy.

          Amazing
Amazing experience in the desert. I was afraid it would be corny to be on camels and all but it wasn't at all. We really loved it.
