- jayng830 contributionsEnjoyable Sahara tripHighlight of the trip is definitely the overnight camp in the Sahara that you can enjoy the sunset and sunrise. Chose the standard camp that came with basic tent with clean bed and lighting. There is no power point in tent so do bring your power bank for charging purposes. Campsite has basic toilets segregated for male and female, a dining hall for all campers that is not very well ventilated and outdoor sitting areas. Another highlight is the journey to and from the desert because most of the time you will be on the road, you need a great driver/guide. Hassan, our driver/guide is excellent and brings us to the destination safely. Felt safe in his care because every time he will ensure we buckle up before he moves off. He briefed us on a summary of the trip at the start of the trip and called out to us on the places/ attractions via the car's mike along the way. Brought us to pit stop for toilet/snack breaks without us asking. Package also included a basic hotel stay with dinner on the first night and a wash up at the campsite provider's hotel with basic breakfast provided after the overnight camp.Written October 10, 2024

- graygray820 contributionsWell worth the journeyThis excursion was fantastic. If you're looking for a trip that is both breathtaking and informative this is it. Our host Youssef was outstanding and kept us engaged and laughing throughout. I recommend taking up the option to jump in, it was worth the experience.Written October 10, 2024
- samueloR7684IL0 contributions3 day Sahara tripFirst of all I want to thank our driver Hassan who took great care of us and was really nice! The trip takes you through and shows you Berber and Moroccan culture and life in the Atlas mountains and in the desert, you make many stops with excellent guides that show you all there is to see. The experiences are amazing and it's definitely worth it. The time at the Sahara is also really fun, the activities and accommodation are great and you have a lot of fun. You get to meet many great people, experience things that you can only experience on this trip, and you get to have a lot of fun. If you are in Marrakech and have the time, definitely consider going on this trip!Written October 8, 2024
- S2341YWraquelc0 contributionsOuzoud waterfalls - NoureddineNoureddine was the best guide ever. He made us feel very good because he was chatty and super nice with us. He also taught us some words in Berber. He showed us the waterfalls and we went on a boat trip. Everyone who choose this experience should choose Noureddine. He showed us the Beber costumes, we drank the famous tea and had a demonstration of the Argan oil.Written October 7, 2024
- Dan20140 contributionsNecessary evilWhilst I don't rate this tour, unfortunately it is the only option to visit the Sahara from Marrakech as a solo traveler, it is such a shame there isn't a more expensive but more better tour running by another operator taking you to nice restaurants and stops along the way, all seem to be the same. All the negative points raised by the reviewers are true, but just go with this knowledge to best manage your expectations. Don't be forced to share a room as a solo traveler either, see below. Firstly I only got sent confirmation at 2pm the day before of the pickup location and what to bring etc. For a country where you are very unlikely to have internet access readily this was concerning for me. If they had written it on the details that you would get the information at 2pm, would have better to manage expectations and worries. Our "guide" was Adil, well he was not a guide just a driver, he didn't say a word to us for the first 3hrs when he picked us up, not even a hello. It was only to tell us we were stopping at this toilet place for 20 mins. Throughout the three days we were never given any overview of the day's activities/timings and it was very hard to work out what to buy snack wise, how much to drink, what to pack etc each day, I only had the booking page to go on. We were never told when the next toilet break would be, and the only reason we seemed to stop would be for the driver to have his legal break. That said, I am sure if someone flagged the need to stop Adil would have. He became very friendly with the Spanish group on the bus, and seemed to give them significant amounts of information only in Spanish, leaving the rest of the group out. We didn't even know there was an option to do 4x4 driving for extra on the dunes, but he had arranged this for the Spanish speakers on the bus, but didn't offer this to anyone else. For snacks or lunch, we never stopped in the towns we passed through (of which there were many), we always stopped in the middle of nowhere, where there was only one option. It is all very well to say it is the customers choice to buy lunch, but when you are only given one option, which is a 3 course meal for 140 RAD plus tip, there is no choice. Places seen from the vehicle along the way had main meal items for 40 RAD. We never stopped at the supermarket to have option to buy lunch items. Where we did stop was average food, and considerably higher price than elsewhere, the operators were very pushy for tips, and didn't give a monkey about you, they just wanted you in and out. They changed the menu item I ordered and just told me to lump it and forced me to pay the full amount, another girl had hair in her food and they refused to give her another. The driver was never anywhere to be seen at these stops, which speaks volumes. The guide at Aït Benhaddou kasbah was really good, but at your own expense (40 RAD), which is fine that is what the description says. However, you are dropped off very far away and you are given no other option or information about how to get to the village if you do not follow the guide, you are not told when even to be back at the bus, so once again you are only given one option. The guide did try to sell us overpriced painted post cards 100 RAD from a "demonstration" but made it clear there was no pressure. There was no stop at Skoura on the first day, like the itenary advised, we drove straight through, no explanation given. The hotel in the evening was basic but perfectly fine (Maison Amazig/Maison D'hôtes), think hostel just ensuite where the toilet is the shower. Dinner was late at 8:45 but had a good included buffet, and then some family drumming before bed. Note that no drinks are included with the meal, no water is even provided either, all at your own expense, this wasn't clear on the booking information. Breakfast was more disappointing, but the bread fills you up. When I left in the morning, they chased me out of the door for a tip. The guide in Tinghir was pointless, we just walked through some fields and got taken to a carpet demonstration where they got annoyed that no one bought any, the guide then asked for tips. The Todra Gorge was not very interesting. There was no stop at Rissani on the second day, like the itenary advised, we drove straight through without explanation. Upon arrival in Merzouga, we got onto the camels and headed off into the desert, this was the great part of the experience, although the camel guide gave us no information or advice on how to ride, and I fell off. The camel guide also stopped half way to try and sell us overpriced trinkets and got annoyed when no one bought anything. We watched the lovely sunset and then headed to the campsite. The (non-luxury) campsite is not far at all from Merzouga town itself, you could easily walk it but, this isn't the tours fault, this has been mandated by the government, but they do hide the camp in between two dunes so you feel remote. Upon arrival they tried to force me to share a tent with another stranger, after I protested they suddenly magic'd up another tent. Tent had lighting, and was clean and comfortable, shared toilets basic but as expected. Tent very warm upon arrival, but leaving the door open let it cool down and it was not too cold at night. The included food served in the evening had very little meat, but enough carbs to fill you up, only drink available was water charged at 40 RAD. I am not sure what meal you would have got at the luxury as no one from our group chose this. We went out of the camp at our own accord to see the stars which were great and there was a camp fire in the evening. We were up at sunrise, which wasn't too early this time of year 7am, some great photos and then off on the camels again back to the hotel that owns the camp in the town. They had showers here if you fancied it. Breakfast again basic, but enough. On the third day there is 10 hours of driving, with only a stop for lunch and toilets if and when you request them. This was a killer, I do not know why they do not stop in a town to allow you to do some tourist shopping or somthing, to break the day up. There was no stop at Ouarzazate on the third day, like the itenary advised, we drove straight through and only stopped at an overpriced restaurant in middle of no where for the lunch. We got stuck behind trucks for ages, so didn't get back until 7.30, but we were dropped near our accommodation. The mini bus was comfortable and had good air con but I was glad to get back to decent food, and somthing other than rice, bread and fruit, which was the daily menu. They could easily offer a mid range version of this tour, which went and stayed in some nicer places, or at least manage your expectations better! There were two mini buses from this tour operator doing the route together, although lots of other tour groups at the restaurants and stops.Written October 6, 2024
- KathiKob0 contributionsFabulous experienceThe tour of the falls was a great experience. It would have been 5/5 if the van driver communicated with us during the ride. It would have been nice to learn a little about the towns we passed through during the nearly 3 hour ride. Noureddine was a great guide around the waterfalls and the boat ride was perfect. I enjoyed being able to shop along the way and the fresh squeezed pomegranate juice was amazing. Highly recommend.Written October 5, 2024

- Philip S0 contributionsWorth a visitGood value for money. Wonderful falls. Boat ride a bonus. Good lunch. Guide also very good. Have knocked a star off because the Berber village was a bit pointless. More an opportunity for us to buy products - spent too long there.Written September 30, 2024
