About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- hilarieb20180 contributionsNot a Full TourWe booked a tour for sail and snorkel with Dolphins and You that had a contract deal with Go Tours for a Pearl Harbor tour (around $20 extra per person). After checking these great reviews I felt good about booking it and went ahead and bought 12 tickets for our large group. We decided to drive separately and confirmed that was okay with our guide knowing that we would miss some of the “city tour” on the drive over. However, when we arrived our guide met us inside the entrance and told us about Pearl Harbor for about 8 min before setting us loose in the memorial. Having booked this for our entire group I am left feeling the guilt of the money we spent on a “tour” instead of the $1/ticket it costs to take the boat out to the USS Arizona. This was not a $20/ticket experience and it was not a tour, it was a brief introduction to the memorial. If you need a ride to the memorial it would be slightly less of a rip-off.Written January 24, 2025

- Q4015WProbm0 contributionsIsland Circle Tour - North Shore O’ahuWe started the tour with a very strong, vocal, funny, knowledgeable local guide named RJ and driver named Eric. The amount of Hawaiian language, culture and traditions that we learned about was worth it all. Our guide RJ had the party tour atmosphere pumping from start to finish. Everyone had a great trip. The landmark stops on the trip were amazing to see and well explained by our guide - RJ - explaining what we could do best to see everything. An 8 hour tour with this ‘ Ohana ‘ ( family ) made us all come together for a great time. There were 6 choices for lunch along the way and stops for local treats and fruit. All very reasonable priced. Take this tour …. And if you have RJ and Eric as your guide. You will definitely know it. MahaloWritten January 22, 2025

Our tour had Dirk as the driver and he did a fantastic job throughout the day! As others have shared, the driver (Dirk) was worth the price of the tour! He had tremendous knowledge to share, offered great insight into the different parts of the island, and engaged all of the members of the group in one way or another! Dirk was energetic, interesting, entertaining and very personable!
The trip is a great way to see a little bit of everything as an introduction to the island! A 120 mile trip can’t show you everything but it can give a hint of things that might be pursued more fully or areas to visit in more detail later! Dirk did a great job of planting seeds and ideas for restaurants to try, places to return to, and intriguing bits of history to encourage further exploration!
There were several very brief stops, but we viewed them as giving a taste of the island rather than a full experience! There were stops, on our tour, at a very nice beach, at a gift shop, the macadamia nut farm, at the shrimp farm and Fumi building for lunch, time along the North Shore, a stop at the Dole Plantation. The gift shops here offered unique items that we have not found in other parts of the island!
We had a great day and saw lots of things. Although it was tough to snorkel because of wave conditions, we saw many different sea turtles at our stop! Waves were really rolling and the scenic surf was incredible to watch! Dirk did an excellent job of pointing out various trees, plants, and vegetation as well as sharing history as to how the things got to the island.
A “circle island tour” is exactly what it is billed—a chance to circle the island of Oahu and get a glimpse of a lot of things! It is great to do early in a vacation stay to help determine other plans and activities. Or, in a short stay, is a good way to get to see much in a very short time!
If you get a tour guide like Dirk, it is an even greater experience!

My personal family traveled with 3 adults and 5 children. Each of us loved this experience. The tour was amazing! We even were able to see turtles while snorkeling!
Our tour guide, Kamanu, made the experience even better. She brought us into her "ohana" by telling us personal stories, legends of the island, and history of Hawaii. It truly felt as if we were part of the culture and not just visiting. She had to make a couple of minor adjustments to the itinerary due to high crowd volume, but she always prepared us ahead of time and found amazing places to visit. We did make quick stops at each place noted on the itinerary. I felt as if she went above and beyond to accommodate our group. I would highly recommend this tour and ask for Kamanu!

This tour was like many others, typically stopping at the usual places for photo ops, beach time on the north shore, and a quick trip into the Dole Plantation for ice cream and souvenirs. What made it more interesting than these usual attractions was the stop at the macadamia nut farm, where we were allowed to sample all their products, and our prearranged lunch at a shrimp truck. Both of these were delicious! But the truly outstanding feature was our guide/driver, Kanamu, who talked to us nonstop and even sang some traditional songs. By the time the tour ended, there was no aspect of Hawaiian life: past, present, or future that she hadn’t touched upon. As a native Hawaiian, she informed us as no one else could and in a very entertaining fashion. She alone was worth the price of the tour.

If you want an entertaining educational tour of the island, book with Dirk as your your guide. His humor makes everything memorable. Do this tour first so that you learn what to do on the island. There are a lot of stops. Dirk will give you a wealth of information for other places to visit too that you may want to go spend more time in for the rest of your trip. You only get 40 minutes to go snorkel and spend time at the beach. If it's snorkeling is what you really want to do I recommend doing that on a different time unless 40 minutes is enough for you. We booked with a travel agency which cost 2x more than booking with Groupon which is what other people did. Although we would've rather paid half price, Dirk made it worth it. He's super funny, he was the best part of the tour.

We were sold this trip as the best way to see the island! when in reality it was over $100 to sit in a van all day and visit every gift shop Hawaii has to offer!
It started off with diamond head where you get taken to the look out point only to take a photo and get back in the van straightaway. and that basically is how the whole day went! We drove past lots beautiful beaches but when we finally stopped at one it was rocky and had very limited fish to see when snorkelling, but there was a turtle on the beach!
It’s over priced for what it is,you do go to a pineapple and macadamia nut plantation but learn nothing about how the plants are harvested or any facts about it at all. they both have an over sized gift shop to buy the typical Hawaiian souvenirs or their products. you can’t even do any of the activities you want to cause you don’t stay at the location long enough! Wouldnt recommend it at all felt like it was a total waste of a day!

Robert, my tour guide, was there to answer any question I had. He was very informative and showed that he really loves his job. For a full-day tour, it really ran smoothly overall.
Of course, it depended on the cooperation of everyone such as returning on time after each stop and leaving cell phones off or put on silent. There was only one time in the beginning when we had to wait for a straggler and on the way back there was a disrespectful person who kept receiving texts with that annoying chime.
Other than that, we had ample time to take pictures and enjoy the scenery while being driven all over the island to locations I never imagined existed or would ignore if I had to do it on my own. Robert was also available to provide his knowledge about Hawaiian culture and history. He went out of his way to make the experience more joyful by cracking jokes and offering us trivial information along the way.

This was truly an awesome tour. Motivated, knowledgeable and super friendly tour guide. I was concerned that it might not be worth my money, but it was worth every single penny. We actually saw more than promoted on the schedule. Got super helpful advice on what to see here. I can only recommend this tour if you want to get the best overview of the island and its culture.

James was amazing! If it were not for him, the tour would have been a complete waste for us. It was nice to learn about the culture from someone who lives it and is not just not just a tour guide.
The tour; however, is very rushed. We did not go to the Waimea Falls at all, and it should have been told to us that there would be NO STOPPING at ANY of the locations along the route from Diamond Head Lookout all the way up to the North Shore (with the exception to lunch and shopping). There are no opportunities for photos or even to just get a view of anything. We were sitting on the left hand side of the tour bus, so we did not see many of those sites and definitely did not get any pictures of anything. It is a lot of money to spend on a full day tour to not be able to stop and take picture of the locations that we were told that were included in the tour.
Lunch at Fumis was pretty awesome... Get the spicy garlic shrimp!!! Fruit stand was great, but not enough time to finish what we bought and could not bring food onto the bus. Same issue at Dole plantation...after standing in a long line to purchase pricey Dole Whip, we were not given enough time to finish it, we were then told to take it off of the bus and throw it away.

We signed up for this tour with the Budist Temple Visit and Sea Turtle Watch instead of the Waimea Waterfall to explore the island and see the North Shore. Our guide was Cliff and we heard so much from him, we are still confused understanding his current wife, deceased wife, children in Boston, in laws, whether he dyes his hair at 72 or not, and upcoming move into the retirement community soon to reduce his rent. We had families with small children on the bus and let's just say he had very little filter on his language and delivery to which we cringed numerous times listening to. Translate this to mean we knew more about Cliff in his retirement working two days a week than we knew about the Island on this tour. The bus ride was hard and rough, we hit every pot hole Cliff could drive into, and my neck was jerked so much that I still have muscle spasms after arriving back home, I really needed to go to the local ER in Waikiki after this tour I was in so much pain. We never saw a sea turtle and most stops were quick and short. Most of our time was spent at the mandatory $15 shrimp lunch stop and a half hour at the Dole Pineapple plant. We got back early so Cliff decided to drive us by old Honolulu near China Town further wasting our time and delaying getting back to our hotels. This tour was way too expensive for what it was, the bus ride rough, and Cliff an entire waste of time we lost spending our day with him. I tipped him out of courteousy. Apologies, our experience does not match the five star reviews, wish it had, but we cannot recommend this tour nor driver/guide. Your mileage may vary.

The merchant was pretty good at communicating with me before the tour but not so much with the Driver/tour guide Robert. I informed them that I had a folding wheelchair and was told no problem. When I got picked up Robert was surprised as his van had no place to put it so it had to take up 2 front seats. Luckily, they had 2 no shows so that worked out. The tour started late as one family took their time to get to the pick up spot and we waited for them. The name of the tour should be stop and go Oahu, as most of the stops we under 7 minutes. The exceptions were lunch, Macadamia Nut tourist stop, Snorkeling and finally Dole Planation. On that point the Dole Plantation stop was more of Dole Plantation Store stop. You barely had time to go into the store and shop. You saw nothing of the plantation or anything about growing pineapples.
We really liked the Macadamia very nice free coffee and nut samples and no pressure to by anything. Robert was very nice and the same family that held us up in the AM held us up at the snorkeling trip almost 15 minutes. The other stops were very good for taking a few photos and Robert was very knowledgeable.
We brought our own snacks drinks and lunch as we like what we like to eat. Others seemed to enjoy the $15 on average lunch at the stop we made as this is not included in the tour.
FYI, tour guide did not enforce mask wearing on the small van, was talking on the cell phone while driving, did not wear a seat belt and as stated above rushed us on all stops except the ones mentioned. We never spent 20 minutes at any picture stops.
Overall, if this is your first time to Oahu and want just a flavor of the island, with the Groupon coupon, it is worth it. Mahalo

Are there pick ups at the Honolulu pier 2? we will have a group of 8 people.
THis tour includes lunch, where will it be ? we have a person that is allergic to shrimp(shell fish) ?
we are planning tour for May 10 wednesday and i believe Kahuku Farms is closed, what will replace it ?
What is the max number of people on this tour ?
thanks

Your 1st question would be better answer by the service provider. We were staying at Wyndham Waikiki Beach and were picked up at a hotel close by.
We did stopped at a shrimp place which I do kit remembering the name and while the shrimps were fantastic, you could chose something else for lunch.
The bus included several people, somewhere about 30 or 35 so a group of 8 would not be an issue.
We enjoyed our tour a lot.
Thanks Pauline

As I recall, there was a pick-up in the area near by, I’d suggest that you speak with the company agents when you are booking to be sure, it’s a wonderful tour!

No they are not required. We just spent 17 days in Waikiki and visited many places the only places that we even saw mask signs were at individually owned, mom and pop, places but even they didn't require mask, just kinda let you know it was ok to wear if you wanted to. Have fun.

My husband and I are taking our two 10 year old grand daughters In October to Hawaii. We are staying at the Disney Aulani. I have no idea how far it would be to the pick up site or how early we would have to leave the resort to get there. We do not have plans to rent a car. Is this a possibility for us? THANKS!
