- Payang120 contributionsGreat experienceThis was such a unique experience! Greg was an excellent star guide and made it so easy and fun! It was only our group and another family for our 7:00 pm session and it was perfect! We all had a fun time and learned so much about the stars above us! We come from the North and it was so cool to learn about the stars we see here. I thought the brightest star closest to the moon was the North Star; turns out it was Jupiter! We were able to see Jupiter, got a real nice look at the moon and many others. Definitely a must do and it doesn’t take long! Would recommend showing up early just to watch the sunset and explore the lagoon areas if you are not staying at the resorts here. We came in from Waikiki and it was one of the very top highlights of our trip! Came to Oahu for a trip with my Mom and friend. All of us adults (35+). Mom has limited English and still loved it-thank you for making it easy, enjoyable and possible to share this experience with my Mom!Written December 26, 2023

- Noa G0 contributionsLovely stargazingWe had a really good time gazing at the stars and learning so many new things. Greg is an awesome guide/host and the whole night felt really personalized to what was showing in the sky at the time - didn't feel scripted, just genuine passion for stars. I came away with a huge appreciation for how the ancient Polynesians navigated from island to island by the stars, and enjoyed learning or re-learning about constellations I haven't thought about since high school. I also really appreciated Greg's patience and depth of knowledge, answering all of our questions clearly and with genuine excitement. Recommend!Written April 17, 2023
- tcpizzi0 contributionsStars above HawaiiWe had a wonderful clear night and able to see so many stars at the 4 Seasons by the pool. He had a great telescope. He also was able to show us pics from his Camera/telescope. He was able then to send us the photos by phone to take home. He had great energy and very knowledgeable. Great for kids and adults. Highly recommend.Written February 17, 2023

- MattL01250 contributionsOverall a great experienceThis is an activity that we had been looking forward to. We not only got to see different planets, stars, nebulas, but learned a lot as well. It was cool being able to be shown different constellations too. We ended up with some “souvenirs” as we were sent photos of some of the things we saw through telescopeWritten February 4, 2023
- Leanne P0 contributionsGreat ExperienceThis is a great opportunity to see the stars and planets (if available) through a really nice telescope. Greg is very knowledgeable and shares all of the photos of what you view through the scope. Everyone has an opportunity to look the scope and is really good at explaining what you are viewing and answering questions. We were staying at the Aulani and went to the viewing next store at the Four Seasons. Easy to get to and good viewing. I recommend this for all ages.Written January 24, 2023

deep disappointment with the stargazing event hosted by Stars Above Hawaii, despite reading numerous positive reviews about the stargazing experiences, my recent encounter left much to be desired.
After a 45-minute drive from Honolulu, fully expecting a memorable evening under the stars.
However, our excitement quickly turned to frustration upon arrival.
Despite arriving promptly at the designated meeting point by the golden elevators at 8:05 pm, no one from the team appeared to escort us to the event location.
Only through the kindness of a passing hotel guest were we able to gain access to the 6th floor, around 8:20 pm where to our dismay, we discovered that the event was already underway. It became apparent that we were the only non-hotel guests present, highlighting a glaring lack of organization and disregard for paying customers.
Furthermore, the website advertised the event as a one-hour activity, scheduled from 8:15 to end at 9:15 pm. However, the astronomer concluded the session prematurely at 9:00 pm, depriving us of the full experience we paid for. This blatant disregard for the advertised schedule further compounded our disappointment.
Additionally, despite assurances in our booking confirmation that we would receive a text message on the day of the event regarding weather conditions and the precise location of the stargazing, no such communication was received. This left us uncertain and forced to take a gamble with the lengthy journey to the event site.
Also, the show its self is totally worthless to pay 108$ for two. The astronomer presented the Jupiter, and a few other stars, maybe a total of 4 or 5 stars.

This was followed up on with this guest in separate email he sent to the business directly. Not an experience any other person ever experienced in 16-years for sure and very odd. Not sure if this was the event attended and not another. Thanks anyway.

Greg's enthusiasm and knowledge made the trip over from Waikiki very much worth it. His use and teaching utilizing his computer and GPS controlled equipment was fantastic. Also his use of a laser pointed fanicinated all the "kids" in our group. He made sure each attendee got each opportunity to to view each star, group of stars and plantet. I didn't realize how impactful it would be actually seeing Saturn and Jupiter through his telescope would be compared to seeing pictures on a TV or in a book. He answered each question thoughtfully and helped encourage more interaction from our kids. I am really glad we had this family experience, it was one of my favorite in Hawaii and worth evey penny. He sent us pictures of our visit to our cells.

My wife loves to look at the moon and stars so I booked in a Stars Above Hawaii experience. Greg did an excellent job showing us stars, constellations, nebulas with the use of a high-powered telescope. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the different galaxies and we were all impressed with the stories of the history behind astrology. We all took turns looking through the telescope and saw amazing things. Then he sent us pictures of what we saw in our emails so that we have something to look back at our experience. Highly recommend it.

We tried to do this show two years ago but weather canceled it. This year we had a beautiful clear night with tons of starts out. However we had gale force winds and it was freezing! They moved the event from the beach lagoon to the top of a building at the Four Seasons. We had a small group brave the elements and our host, Mike, did a great job in spite of the wind. He was a NASA astronomer and very knowledgeable. His passion for the subject was infectious for sure. The views thru the telescope were amazing and he provided us with emailed photos of what we saw thru the scope. I think the show was cut short because of the conditions and I would do the show again on a better weather evening. I agree with other people that based on the number of people they should have more telescopes available for viewing. If you love to look at stars and planets, it was a great experience.

We enjoy going to astronomy tours whenever we're in a new environment, and this one was outstanding. Our guide, Greg, was probably the most enthusiastic astronomer I've ever met on one of these tours. He was knowledgeable (naturally), but also funny and had a great rapport with the kid in the group. I was a little wary that the tour locations were both outside resorts because of possible light-pollution (if you like astronomy tours, you know about this). To our delight, we had an excellent view of the sky despite the light and the clouds! Protip: While not mentioned in the tour description, the Four Seasons resort (our location for that night) offered FREE valet parking.

My wife and I were able to book an 8pm event with Greg the first week of February. I was a little hesitant because the moon was almost full but it still didn't prevent us from getting a look at some pretty cool places in our solar system: orion nebula, crazy two sun place, and the moon was amazing to look at in such close detail. Greg was great at answering questions and providing us with information on our solar system. He was great to talk with clearly is passionate about astronomy. Probably one of the highlights of my trip to Hawaii and would recommend it to others!

Our first booking needed to be rebooked due to clouds and rain, fortunately we were able to! Turned out to be a spectacular night with the clear sky stars and moon. We would highly recommend this experience for children and adults! Pay attention to your text as the hotel does move the experience to different locations, clearly there were people who didn't and 'got lost' but host did a great job to help them get to there

Greg was great and obviously the subject matter was of interest to us. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic—a great teacher. And the Ocean Lawn at the Four Seasons was a fantastic classroom. Very little ambient light or noise.

Host was very knowledgeable and friendly. Telescope was very good, however in a group of 12 people, it took too long for everyone to look through the eyepiece and it detracted from the opportunity to really learn about the Hawaii Stars. A video display where everyone could see during the presentation would allow for a much enhanced experience.
