About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- VillagerRick0 contributionsCumbersome Reservation ProcessBecause of the lack of clear information on how to experience this memorial we booked this as part of an organized tour of multiple local offerings. The boat ride to the memorial is not that comfortable because they use every available seat (and a couple of overflow seats) on the large shuttle. They allow you to visit the memorial for only as long as it takes for your boat to return and pick up the next group (about 15 minutes).Written March 4, 2025
- normaw8060 contributionsA must see in the StateI have been here twice now, the first time there was an internment, (never held a salute for so long in my life), both times there is a solemnity that permeates the memorial. I salute my fallen comrades in arms.Written February 18, 2025
- Lonjo40 contributionsHeart Breaking Special momentLearned and saw alot of interesting info about Pearl Harbor. Very touching and recommend that everyone see it. Seeing the ship was amazing as well.Written January 27, 2025
- rodgerw920 contributionsVery deepIt was very good and moving experience. I learned a lot of stuff I didn't know before and the audio explains very well. Highly recommendedWritten January 15, 2025
- 167neilh0 contributionsA disappointing experience but glad I went.It was just ok. It has been a long-held bucket list visit to pay my respects and I am glad I have seen the memorial but I would not recommend or visit again. The website does not make clear in a simple and easily understandable way what there is to see and do, which parts require tickets, and what is included in the tickets. Online booking was confusing, and the actual experience no less. The docents and Navy personnel were suitably sombre, but in the case of the former we found the two or three staff we encountered with questions to be rude and charmless. They must hate working with the public. I still don't know whether we were meant to see a short movie in the theatre we were ushered into, or not. The tickets did warn about bags of a certain size but the restriction was extreme and frankly ridiculous. Almost every visitor had to queue to drop off a bag at $7-$10 each. The theatre of security is used to generate a healthy revenue, no doubt. The museum was interesting but lacked tangible exhibits. (The Army Museum in Honolulu had more exhibits of interest on the same subject.) I recommend arriving ahead of your Memorial booking time and visiting the museum first.Written January 14, 2025
- 175altheal0 contributionsEmotionalHumu Humu was amazing—saved us from a miscommunication mishap by calling us because we were a no-show. We didn’t get the schedule change— missed the text. But Humu made sure we got there. My Ohana is from Makawao, we were there for my father’s funeral. My husband and I took the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor where he was stationed 46 years ago, go down memory lane. So this was an emotional thing for me, my dad, fully Hawaiian, was born before WW II, in Maui when Hawaii was a territory. Felt full circle experience for me. Mahalo.Written January 13, 2025
- CarogaMan0 contributionsFirst time to Pearl Harbor.I have always wanted to see Pearl Harbor. I booked a reservation a couple months in advance. I tried to do it 6 months in advance but you can’t do it that early. Parking was not very clearly marked or adequate. I wound up parking down the road on the side along with many others. It was fine. The signage was not great on where to go but we asked some staff and figured it out. US Navy personnel and park rangers were very respectful and reverent. Not all the people were bit most recognized this was sacred ground. It is a short tour back and forth but very moving. I recommend listening to the short film in the theater after the tour, or before.Written January 9, 2025

- RemittanceNinja0 contributionsTook my breath awayIt was only a few months ago I visited to pay my respects, but the Arizona is still fresh in my mind. A short boat ride over to the exhibit, and you are at a living, breathing memorial to all those who so bravely served during WWII. True chills getting to stand, reflect, and commemorate. This was a truly special visit for me personally. I visited on what would have been my late grandfather's 97th birthday, where he fought in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Korean War as a gunner, right alongside the Americans. Those who made our great countries free shall never be forgotten.Written December 29, 2024
- KevinW57510 contributionsA Great Historic Place to visitThis was a very informative tour with good commentary and ample time for individual exploration and observation. There were plenty of memorials to read about and explore. The place is spacious and clean, with easy-to-access restrooms and eating facilities.Written December 19, 2024
- Anne P0 contributionsThe reason to visit Pearl HarbourIt is worth visiting this burial site for all the men who lost their lives, and those who survived but have been chosen to have their ashes put in with their mates who died. All the names are displayed on an honour roll on a wall inside the memorial. A sobering reminder of the result of the desire of power, hatred, greed, war. It has been well done, and if you visit the battle ship Missouri you can understand the utter horror of what faced those trapped inside.Written December 3, 2024
- parrottdize0 contributionsMovingWe have been to Pearl Harbor before, but unfortunately for us, the dock to the Arizona Memorial was closed for repairs and no one was allowed to go onto the memorial. So on this trip it was our mission to go to the Arizona Memorial. We booked our excursion through Viator.......they got us our tickets for the Memorial, picked us up at the cruise dock and returned us to the cruise dock. They also drove through Punchbowl Cemetery, which was nice. With Viator, they will text you the morning of your excursion reconfirming your pick-up time or if there was any changes. The memorial is very moving and is a must see if you are going to Pearl Harbor. All of the names of the men that died on that ship.....I didn't realize that there were so many. There were men that survived, but when they died they had their ashes interned in the ship, so they could be with their shipmates......their names are also there. Something to remember if you go to Pearl Harbor, no, purses, backpacks, bags, camera cases, fannypacks, etc. Yes, you can take your camera. Just make sure you wear clothing that has pockets so you have someplace to carry your stuff.Written December 1, 2024
- Astrobeemer0 contributionsMoving experienceVisiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial should be on everyone’s list, especially if you go to Hawaii. It is such an important part of USA and world history. The experience itself while on the USS Arizona memorial was very moving and solemn. The ferry ride getting to the memorial was fun as well. The only thing that was confusing and frustrating was booking the ferry ride since the tickets sell off so far in advance, but they also keep some tickets to be sold the day prior to each ferry ride. I was pretty confident if I log in at the exact time they release tickets I can definitely get some, but I was so wrong - within seconds they were sold out which means the only option is to show up very early for standby tickets which means taking a chance…. If they come up with a better way of selling tickets the experience would be betterWritten November 23, 2024
- gary H0 contributionsTour bus visitAlways wanted to visit pearl harbour & am glad to say it’s another one off the bucket list The time your actually on the memorial itself is very litre which wasn’t great but you get enough time to take pictures and get a brief run down by one of the rangers Would highly recommend and also to go and look around the ship Missouri that was really goodWritten November 23, 2024
- christophermX784WY0 contributionsFun way to spend part of a day getting some exercise and learning about the history of Diamond Head (planning tip below)First things first… if you book this tour, be sure to then visit the Hawaii State Parks website to purchase a park ticket as well (only $6.15, which is not included in the price of the Narrated Audio Tour and must be purchased separately online). You need a QR code from Go Hawaii State Parks Reservation that will allow you to enter the park, and then you show your Tripadvisor bar code at the Visitor Center where you will receive the audio tour device after leaving your driver’s license or credit card as collateral. Now, onto the hike itself… I really enjoyed spending part of the day (only about an hour for me going up and down, not very crowded) getting some exercise with a moderate-level hike and learning about the history of Diamond Head. The device provided is the size of a large mobile phone, and there is no way to connect earbuds to it, but the volume can be adjusted, as necessary. The hike starts off on a paved concrete surface but then quickly turns into an uneven rocky surface for most of the way up, not too difficult, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes (sneakers or hiking shoes/boots), and then there are plenty of stairs towards the end. Once you traverse all of the terrain, you will be rewarded with spectacular 360 degree views. Definitely recommend!Written November 17, 2024

Don’t book via trip advisor- book through the government website for recreation because it is the only way to reserve a time for the boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial. We booked through trip advisor and had to wait an hour and a half on standby with our three teenagers to get out there. Otherwise Pearl Harbour was well worth the visit- educational and moving.

If you’re a history buff you will like this and truly feel it in your heart when on the USS Arizona. To walk around Pearl Harbor and see it first hand almost brings you back to the actual time when it was attacked. When there pay your respects to all of the fallen and enjoy your time at Pearl Harbor. Also don’t forget this you need to go early before it gets crowded because it will get very crowded.

Visiting memorials is always a sobering experience. The Arizona was even more so because of the pains taken my the on-site military and staff to remind us that there were 900+ marines and sailors still entombed at the site. I was skeptical of the short visit to the monument itself, but it turned out to be about right. It’s likely that if you want more time, you could just take a subsequent ferry. Took an audio tour of the visitor center and monument, which was pretty good. I was glad to see mention of some of America’s missteps as well, such as the the internment camps. Overall a great experience.

I purchased the virtual tour but later discovered it didn’t include the boat to the Arizona which was a bit of a surprise. I happened across the fine details only after purchasing the tickets.
So had to try to get boat tickets which wasn’t very clear how to do that it just said to go to the gov website. Also the contact information was not good at all to clarify what I needed to do. Finally after I found out what I needed to purchase for the boat on the website it was impossible to buy the tickets because they’re sold out immediately once they go on sale.
Then the information from travel advisor says they hand out 1300 tickets the morning of which I found this to be false, you have to be in a standby line which took us over two hours and we showed up before it opened.
Pearl Harbor was great to experience but unfortunately had to deal with uncertainty and lots of waiting even though we bought tickets to the virtual reality tour weeks earlier we should not had this happen to us.

Pearl Harbor was an amazing experience. The price was less than anything else I could find. Afterwards I still think you made a mistake by giving it at such a low price. Even with paying for our own transportation it was still less expensive than any of the tours offered by the hotel or other online.

Sadly, you have to pay to book a tour with a tour group or hotel if you want to visit the Arizona Memorial. The 1,300 “free” tickets that are supposed to be released and available at recreation.gov at 3p.m. each day are already spoken for by these for profit tour groups. Also, the park authority will not allow ride shares so be prepared for a bit of a walk and an all day wait in a standby line, with no guarantee of getting a ticket, if you don’t book with a tour outfit. We had 3 days in Honolulu and thankfully figured out the game on Day 2. We booked with hotel concierge and got on tour Day 3. Site itself was very moving and well done.

The narration was well done and informative. It would be helpful if it was made clear at time of purchase that one would still have to have a separate ticket for the bot ride to USS Arizona.
We were able to get in on stand by and the narration by Jamie Lee Curtis (daughter of Tony - who was in the Pacific Theater) - enhanced the experience on the Memorial, and throughout the Pearl Harbor area.

Very good value as I booked the day before. The one item I would recommend is for the company to disclose ferry tickets should be purchased to go to the USS Arizona before you purchase this experience. It wasn’t clear as the ferry books up real quick, I was able to get my family on standby but if it was busy I couldn’t do that. I feel that i was lucky because it was a slow day. I did enjoy the memorial it was a great experience.

This is such a humbling experience. It was difficult to get tickets for the boat over to the Arizona, we arrived at 7am to get in line for standby, luckily we were able to board without too long of a wait. We did the self guided audio tour, which I highly recommend.

Spent a great day at Pearl Harbor. We used the audio tour and virtual reality tour for the first time. This was our third trip to Pearl and we got so much more out of it using the audio guide. The virtual reality tour was nice, especially the underwater tour of the Arizona. It is a very sad day in American history that we should never forget and continue to honor.
