Dolphin Excursions was an amazing adventure! From the time we booked the trip, we were impressed at this women led and run company and both Alyssa, our diving crew member and our captain (of 17 years) exuded warmth, humor, and professionalism throughout our cruise. Alyssa gave the most comprehensive demonstration of how to use snorkeling gear of any cruise, tour, or rental I have ever been a part of. Since two of our group were extremely nervous about snorkeling and had trouble slipping into the water and swimming to where Alyssa had congregated us about 50 ft away to view the dolphins underwater, Captain Jenna maneuvered the vessel closer so Alyssa could have them hold her life saver and swim alongside herself! What a way to exemplify compassionate excellence in service! They demonstrated their expertise in finding pods of dolphins for us to view, allowing us to be so close to them as to have dolphins swimming up to and under our boat! They gave us plenty of information about dolphins and cheerfully answered all our questions about sea, sea life, and living on Oahu. We moved to four different locations for opportunities for all to experience swimming amongst dolphins and snorkeling to see so many types of Hawaiian fish and even sea turtles! I would definitely recommend this cruise for anyone who wanted to get up close and personal with dolphins with a great company!

Worth every cent!

Firstly- shoutout to the crew Jenna, Alyssa, Taylor! They care about the animals and are very knowledgeable about the marine wildlife so be sure to pick their brain!
Jenna- the captain was super cute as she gets really excited about the animals and desperately wants everyone to experience snorkelling with the dolphins. They made you feel comfortable and never pushed you outside your comfort zone.
Lisa at reception- Super helpful with my 101 questions, as one of us experiences anxiety and she went above and beyond to give as much information as possible prior to booking.

I went with my brother and mum, and this was the first time we did anything like this so we were a little nervous. I have to say, this was worth every cent. If you're second guessing, please bite the bullet and do this, especially if you're in Hawaii!

We chose the 7am slot. We are NOT morning people and pickup was very early BUT In my opinion, earlier the better as we experienced the sunrise, we had less time in the strong sun and also it was our last day in Hawaii and had plenty of time to enjoy the rest of our day (got back around 12:30pm?).

Smaller group, around 15 or 20 of us including the crew and photographer? Food is provided which was delicious (had banana pancakes), optional scuba gear is available at an extra $10 which I do recommend as we would have been pretty cold and thankful we got it.

We saw a Humpback whale and swam with spinner dolphins which LOVE to give you a show, especially the babies, they showed off a lot :)! So if you choose not to go in, you'll still have an amazing time. As mentioned, the crew protect the animals and respect them, so they will give you pointers on how to safely enter the water with them.

All 3 of us left feeling super satisfied and 100% would recommend these guys over the bigger ones.

Tip: As its a smaller boat, if you get seasick, pop one of those seasick tablets in and you should be sweet, don't let that stop you from this experience.

Best Boat Tour Ever

We booked this for the small group size and responsible viewing of wildlife - and they absolutely delivered! It was amazing! We've been on many boat tours and this was by far the best! The most enjoyable, the most educational, and the least stressful. While I can never remember anyone's name - our guide was awesome. We saw hundreds of spinner dolphins with their babies. We swam with the biggest sea turtles we've met yet. Then saw even more and more dolphins! Their snorkeling gear was quality, and even our first time snorkelers felt completely comfortable. Absolutely recommend. Would book again!

Not Great in February

We must have been the only tour with this boat that did not see turtles or whales. We did make it out to see the dolphins! They didn't stick around long, the marine biologist on board confirmed that they were not very interested in us and in a hurry to move on. We then went to our snorkel sight, got in the water, and saw maybe three fish, I'm not exaggerating. It was a poor area to snorkle. After 15 minutes it started pouring so we got back in the boat. They definitely can't control the weather so I don't blame them for that! We had a terribly seasick woman on board and chose to go back 20 minutes early. Luckily I heard them saying they were cancelling the tour after us, because I wish they would have cancelled ours. It's rainy season, so if you go in February just be aware of that and how it affects your tour and snorkel experience. I don't think it was worth the $500 we paid for two adults and one child.

Right from the booking I knew I had picked the right people/tour. I was kept informed on pricing, billing, pick up times and even asked what kind of sandwich I wanted freshly prepared to my own specifications. I was picked up in Waikiki for an hour drive, then geared up and on board. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Luck and the skill of Jenna, our captain, had us seeing Spinner dolphins within 5 minutes and we had time to stop and watch them play. Later we saw a female humpback whale with a calf and they put on quite the show breaching and finished by passing right under our boat. Amazing! We all felt totally safe like it was completely natural for two huge creatures to be so close. Awe struck, we were! An underwater "microphone" was lower when 2 males humpbacks were in the area so we could listen to their song. There was time for snorkeling too, Best 3 hours ever and at an affordable cost. P.S. The sandwich was amazing altho I didn't stop to eat it until the end because I didn't want to miss a moment.

Fantastic family outing

This was a fantastic experience and well worth the money for our family (kids 9 and 11)!

We did the 3 hour, 7 am tour the 3rd week of May, with Alexa and Jessica.

The tours are small (max 15 people) and the guides are marine biologists, which was important to us as our whole family was able to hear (challenging with a bigger group) and learn more about marine life. The boat is also small, which personally, we really enjoyed (we could even ride with our legs swung over the side of the boat and feel the spray of the water which thrilled our kids). Immediately after leaving the dock we saw a large pod of dolphins which we watched in the distance for a bit, and then they swam right up alongside our boat for a while! Our kids were able to take a ton of close up photos and videos. For those reviewers complaining about not getting in the water with dolphins, they seem to have missed the new law that strictly prohibits this....

We then went further out, saw more dolphins and a pod of short finned pilot whales. We stopped 3 times where we had the opportunity to jump in and snorkel; all three times we saw sea turtles up close (but never touching as that is not allowed!) and an abundance of fish. When we were watching the pilot whales we did not get in the water, but our guide had a special camera (related to a research project I think they said?) that they took underwater video with and then air dropped it to everyone's phone which was nice, so we could see that there was actually a mama and calf in pod!

It is located outside the main tourist areas but well worth the drive in our opinion (and yes there are homeless camps nearby - but we saw those everywhere on Oahu, including Waikiki....)

Awesome excursion

Everything was so exciting that went way beyond our expectations. I warmly recommend Dolphins Excursions if you want to see (and swim with) spinner dolphins, turtles, and lots of funny unique different coral fishes.
We had also the luck to come across to a pod of pilot whales with an offspring.
So, the bottom line is we had really good time and we'll surely come back to experience more adventures with Captain Genna and her amazing staff.

Too expensive

Is really expensive, they don't offer shuttle or any medium of transportation to the tour. An uber from waikiki costs 75usd if you have to go back to the hotel from there is another 75. So it's 150 extra that you have to pay for the experience. They don't offer any food, and they email you saying that you have to bring your own water. Really few dolphins to be seen. Is really expensive for what they offer

AMAZING Experience
We went out on Wednesday 21st September and had the best time. The Captain and tour guide were phenomenal, insightful and fun! We saw grey dolphins in the first couple of minutes and after some further searching and perseverance, saw a pod of spotted dolphins who jumped and danced in our wake. Totally worth the trip and would do it again a heartbeat.

Exceeded our family's expectations yet again!

I highly recommend the ladies with Dolphin Excursions for nature lovers of all ages! I had a blast with them in June and was thrilled to return with my stepson, friends, and family last weekend. We had great views of Humpback Whales and all enjoyed snorkeling with Spinner Dolphins, an Eagle Spotted Ray, Green Sea Turtles and tons of tropical fish. Veronica and Lex went above and beyond by showing us some amazing seabirds at my request, as a professional bird guide. I will continue to talk up this wonderful group of conservation oriented women and the unforgettable experiences they're eager to share with guests of all ages.
