- I6017UUsharonp0 contributionsExceptional Service! Great show. What a wonderful experience. The dinner, the show, and especially the crew! We had a snafu in booking the dinner. The booking agency had assured us there was gluten free meal reserved for me. When we got on board the crew said they knew nothing about what the booking agency had promised. There were only 2 items in the entire dinner I could eat. They were able to quickly pivot and provided a top notch meal that I was able to enjoy. The crew was exceptional. I highly recommend this cruise. Also, if you have food allergies, make sure you book the appropriate meal option for your needs. The booking agency we used did not let us know about the different levels and meals offered. We will definitely be back but won't be using that booking agency next time.Written August 23, 2024

My daughter ordered 3 tickets ($115/each x 2= $230) for celebration of my 71th Birthday.
I was expecting dinners & show on the STAR Casual cruise to be amazing.
However this event was horrible.
Dinners supposed to serve @ 5:45 PM, the waiter was super rude, we waited for 1 hr, finally waiter showed up with ONE dinner vs THREE. I asked the waiter what was happened with two other dinner, he told me it’s coming. He disappeared for 15 mins and came back with 1 dinner, he again disappeared for other 10 mins & came with 3rd dinner. Dinners were cold, steaks were stale and bloody raw, chicken smelled like dirty socks, the Hula dance was sloppy I.e. couple heavy girls wiggling their butts whom they called MR & Mrs Aloha. It was very disgusting and not nice nor amusing. Later we discovered that the second girl was actually a man dressed to look like a women. After we ate and before cruise was docked they kept turning off lights leaving our section in the dark. I told the head waiter that our food was inedible and my wife felt like throwing up. He gave my wife a barf bag and said if she felt bad just go to the restroom. However he turned back on the lights and he and the other waiters danced together holding hands.

The dinner is good and you will get all the crab you want. Views of Honolulu at night were picturesque. The show is a little cheesy but very entertaining and you’re seated within a couple of feet from all of the action/dancers. At the end of the show, the audience really lets loose and joins in a conga line and for group dancing. Even for shy, non-dancers like us, we had a blast!

I did the Star Sunset dinner and show. If you are prone to motion sickness, do not do this! If you do, take some medication. I get nauseous pretty easily but I took some meds before boarding and I was mostly fine!
The dinner itself was really good! It started with a "Salad" which I wasn't a huge fan of. It was a few pieces of un-chopped lettuce, a few cut up cherry tomatoes and a vinaigrette. The main entree was a steak and crab legs. The steak way delicious and the sauce it came with really complimented it well. The unlimited crab legs was awesome! I love sea food and I kept those crab legs coming for as long as I could. Desert was a Macadamia Nut Ice cream. I'd never had anything like it, but it was tasty!
The show was centered around a 'Newly Wed" couple traveling the islands. It was a fun little story and have the dancers and performers come out into the tables made it feel like you were a part of the show! After we finished eating my friend and I went to the top deck to enjoy the view of Waikiki Beach all lit up during the night. The night air was very refreshing.
I will note that my friend did get overwhelmed. If you don't do well in loud or crowded spaces this may not be for you. The performance takes place where you are eating and the dancers get pretty close at times. Especially during the Haka it can be a lot for those with sensitive ears. I thoroughly enjoyed it though!

This was one of the best dinner and show cruise I have been on. The staff was amazing and audience engagement was excellent.. born from the 1940s to 2019. Cultural array of people who were Celebrating everything or just on vacation like we were. They provided transportation on comfortable buses. Driver had a great personality. The cruise staff were very attentive and knew my husbands shellfish allergies. Introduced menu to him and he had loads of food choices. Polynesian dancers were the best. Made us feel as though they were dancing to us. Watching the sunset on a different aspect is awesome especially with the people we met. Angela our server was also one of the dancers. They we great. I totally recommend this Pacific Sunset Cruise with the Star of Honolulu

Overall better than I expected from a tourist activity. The staff were friendly and hardworking. The food was better than I expected and more than I could eat. The show was surprisingly entertaining and I'm glad I saw it, but if I get to do this again I will probably spend more time on the top deck enjoying the beautiful, beautiful views. Star Casual delivered on every advertised point.
Tips: We parked in an open, public lot on Aloha Tower Drive about one block south of the ship. Expect to pay $30 for parking there. When the cruise is over, be aware that there are actually two exit gates out of the parking lot. Traffic got glommed up at the one people knew about and we were able to make a quick escape out the second gate.
Try to get to the top deck early for views. We got up early and then went back down for dinner. Later it filled up and we were not allowed access.
When the captain suggests going to the starboard side to view the sunset, go there and stake your space. You can view the sunset, the ship will turn, and then you can view Waikiki coastline on the way back. So pretty!
We were on the 3-hour Friday night cruise. When we returned to our seats after seeing the fireworks I was very thirsty but everything had been cleaned up. Water would have been nice, so hang on to your glass when you go outside.
Bring some cash to tip your server. You will like him or her.
We ordered anti-nausea wristbands from Amazon and took them with us. The staff had ginger tablets and ginger ale for people who were bothered by the rocking of the boat, but it was very gentle. I hardly noticed it.
This would be a fun excursion for a special event like a birthday party or anniversary. We even had a wedding couple in wedding dress and tuxedo on our cruise! They were invited to the stage to dance and we serenaded them.
I would definitely recommend Star Cruise. I would do it again and take more people with me if I have the opportunity.

Sunset show and cruise is worth the money. Our family (age ranging from 18-74) enjoyed the dinner and entertainment. The evening started with a complimentary drink. The food was very good- crab legs, steak, mashed potatoes, steamed squash, carrots, salad, dessert. Our server was amazing, full of energy. The musician had a wonderful, smooth voice and the Hawaiian dancers put on a lovely show. The cloud block the full view of the sun setting but the sky was filled with beautiful colors which made great for a great background in our family pictures. The location of the boat was easy to find. Paid parking is available close to the boat. It’s an hourly pay system. I believe our parking total was $21.00. I highly recommend the Star Casual Sunset and Show Cruise.

We took the Star of Honolulu Sunset Dinner Cruise complete with the Friday night fireworks show; what a fantastic time we had. The entire staff on this venue were very professional and provided exceptional service during the three hour tour. The fireworks show at the end of the tour was a highlight of the tour.
The meal for the category we paid for consisted of Canadian crab, chicken, and beef tenderloin complete with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a green salad; the meal was exceptionally good. I love beef, and can honestly say that this was a very good cut of beef.
Entertainment was very good; each of the three categories for the cruise (we had the middle category) had their respective entertainment provided on the floor they had their dinner on. The top level of the boat is open air; unfortunately, they allow patrons to smoke on this level.
We paid for the transportation option to/from the boat; it was a very comfortable (and clean) coach - we felt very safe in this bus, as Chris the driver is definitely a professional driver.
We highly recommend this tour.

The dinner included tenderloin beef, snow crab and chicken, and was worth the money. Staff was very efficient and friendly. Nice evening view of Waikiki as the sun sets. The best part was the Polynesian dancing and music that later transformed into party music and limited guess dancing. Show up early for boarding and you have a higher chance for seating next to the windows. Otherwise you still have 20+ min to walk around the ship and take photos and videos.

We had a good enough time. We did feel this trip was more for the baby boomer crowd. The mc did a good job, it was clear the music selection and entertainment story was for a much older crowd. We knew a little of the music as it was things our grandparents listen too which was a laugh. For context we are both in our mid 30s.
Our served Hannah was prob the best part of the experience. She was very friendly and it was nice to talk to her. She went out of her way for us which we appreciated.
My husband experienced some unexpected sea sickness. It would have been nice to have some dramamine or motion sick pills available for purchase and ginger pills/ginger ale provided were not strong enough to help.
I would not bring children on this dinner cruise. It is very crowded and there is limited movement on the ship at times.

We enjoyed ourselves on this cruise. A lot has to do with the weather when you do these, and it was beautiful! Just because you ordered the casual dinner doesn't mean you can't go outside and upstairs to enjoy the view. We had a great view from our table, but after we the entertainment, we went outside to the top and enjoyed the views.
I felt sorry for our waiter, this cruise was obviously understaffed with waitstaff and he was hustling everywhere. I'm glad we didn't want anything else to drink, because I don't think he would have had time. Remember to tip the waitstaff, even though you are paying a lot for this cruise, I doubt they see much of it.
The entertainment was very good both during and after dinner. Lots of costume changes where they had to run out and upstairs to change and run down.
Overall a very good experience and would do it again.

These people as incredibly accommodating, I would be surprised if they didn't have a substitution. They give so much food to begin with! Just tell your server when they initially come and get your choice of drinks that you do not want crab.

My cousin got violently sick. The crew quickly came to the rescue and gave her ginger chews and within 30 minutes she was much improved. A crew member wheeled her out in a wheelchair and helped me get her into the car. By the time we got back to the hotel, she was fine. I cannot begin to describe this entire cruise. I do not know how they make a profit from what they provide from the entertainment, food and the number of crew members they provide. This is a must do while in Oahu!
