Great shallow dive. Nick Theo and the Captain were great. Our small group was perfect. I would recommend them to everyone.

      Disappointing experience
If you are a beginner, this is not the place for you. There was very little instruction, not enough explanation or practice and it was lacking in professionalism. Encouragement and the ability to gain confidence by patience and compassion are key points for a beginner scuba diver

      My first diving experience
Great lesson for people who want to get into scuba diving! The instructor broke down the steps and it was really easy to pick up on the instructions. I was able to see sea turtles, a stingray and an octopus on my first dive! Definitely would recommend 😋

      GREAT DIVES!!!!!
Super great dive. It had been 12 years since my last dive and a first open water dive for two grandsons. Their pre-dive refresher information was thorough and concise. We felt watched over, safe, yet independent as we dove. We had two great dives with them, and saw turtles, octopus, ells, all kinds of fish and marine life. A highlight of our trip. Thanks, Waikiki Dive Center for reigniting our excitement about diving!

Great Referral Open Water Certification Experience!
I went to Waikiki Dive Center to complete the open water portion of my PADI certification and I’m so glad I did! I had done some research in advance and found Waikiki Dive Center to be the most knowledgeable and reputable. Jim, Christian, Yoshi, Josh, and Nick all made my dive certification experience so enjoyable and smooth! We went out for four dives over two days and came across so much marine life during each of the dives - everything from white tip reef sharks, eels, turtles, cornets! Getting into diving can feel intimidating and scary, especially when trying to get certified as a singleton but I felt no fear in the capable hands of Waikiki Dive Center. I’ll be back in the fall and look forward to diving with Waikiki Dive Center again!!

      Aloha vibes! Great time!
Great time, alohi vibes! Captain Yoshi and Dylan were great with the wife and kids. Watched all kinds of sea life on a deep dive with the kids (12&13). It was the kids first dive and they were really great with training and safety. Kids are not easy to train with scuba diving I'm sure, but they didn't give up on them and the kids got to dive deep and see the beautiful Hawaiian reefs and sea life. Mahalo guys!

      Great diving
We did 4 dives total, and every dive was a success. Instructor Josh and Abby were both very thorough and knowledgeable and led great dives. January seems like a tricky time of year but they had a game plan for all the weather conditions we encountered.

      Awesome Diving on Oahu!
I went diving with Waikiki Dive Center twice on my trip to Oahu and had an awesome time! Theo, Dylan and Captain Steve took great care of me and my 2 sons, aged 12 and 14. We are all certified divers. I saw amazing marine life, including several green sea turtles, moray eels and some pretty interesting tropical fish. I would highly recommend Waikiki Dive Center for both new and experienced divers—and anyone looking to try Scuba Diving on Oahu!

      Recommended dive shop in Waikiki
Had a great time with Waikiki Dive Center on Dec. 31. It was my first time in Waikiki, and the shop was within walking distance from my hotel. Staff, dive masters and everyone there was friendly, answered all questions everyone had, and were very professional. On the dives we saw some rare eels, several sea turtles and more. I chose to rent a Go Pro during my dives, and afterward was given the SD card. Didn't even have to fiddle around with an app. My only regret is not scheduling another day of dives.

      Great crew and dives
Great dive trip. Nick did a private two tank dive with myself and my two sons, one with his advanced ticket and my eleven year old his first intro to diving. Nick was totally cool/relaxed (kept my son completely calm) but was also super attentive keeping my boys safe (kept the dad completely calm). The boat ride out to the reef was short, so didn’t have to worry too much about a rough ride or sea sickness. To top it off, saw four huge turtles and an eagle ray in addition to of loads of Fish. Not bad for my son’s first experience with diving. We had a great trip, so don’t think you can go wrong with these guys.

Fun and convenient dive outfit in Waikiki
This is a super friendly dive shop that is really convenient if you are staying on the Waikiki strip. The staff were conscientious and fun. The equipment was good, new BCDs, comfortable masks and fins, wet suits… I was concerned that it would take forever to get to the marina, but it is about 10 minutes away. They drive you in their vans, the boat is the first one at the marina so no long walk and they load/unload the gear bags making for an easy day. Dive highlights include super high probability of seeing some huge sea turtles.

Might be ok for first timers but definitely not recommend for more experienced divers having dived all over the world.
The dives are way to short (35min) and even though they tell you it's based on air consumption, it's not! It's because they've arrangements with other charters.
As an experienced diver ending a dive after this short amount of time with 110+ bar still in the tank is simply a rip-off for the prices they're charging.
I've never experienced something like this in my more than 10 years diving experience!
If you know and love diving stay away!

Aloha Daniel, You have been posting the same reviews multiple times. It's unnecessary. You refused to call us and kept posting reviews to maliciously attempt to damage our business driven by your eagle. We know you are a competent diver, maybe overly confident. Not sure if we have made clear but it is not about you having more air left, or if you are a better rescue diver or not. We know you are nitrox certified and therefore we expect you should know the concept. In addition, regardless what level you are, you signed up and paid a group tour as advertised. This was not a private tour. If you want to stay a few minutes longer, you can with the options we offered. It isn't about your computer. Furthermore, this is first time I heard about this issue. Why not give us a call and let us know your thoughts before making assumptions unreasonably and impulsively?! We hope you, Luisa and Samir enjoying the island. We sincerely hope you will remove your one star review if we are discussing technical interpretations of air consumptions. First of all, no. The wreck dive trip you were on isn't for beginners. Secondly, if you should recall in PADI Open Water class, your nitrogen builds up faster by depth. The wreck dive is as advertised 120 feet below. Your dive is 35-40 mins by design. This is to prevent any risk that leads to potential fatal decompression injury due to nitrogen build up. You could only stay down under 120 feet for 15 mins since you were not nitrogen certified to use the nitrogen tank option. Even after the 30-40 minutes interval time, you could only be allowed to stay down to maximum of 40 mins. The otherwise is unthinkable. We are the most trusted PADI 5 Star IDC for over 43 years on the island. But I understand you'd like to stay down a few more minutes. We offered you for a private charter and you didn't book it. You have two other options that I don't see record you had requested: 1) We have private instructor option available if any diver would like to have more personal attentiveness in trading efficiency for more under water time. And/or 2) You didn't use Nitrox for which you could have stayed down for a longer time due to less nitrogen build up using Nitrox. On the same trip, you had a dive master and a dive instructor who have had over 8000 dives. We are here to ensure your safety while introducing the beauty of Hawaii underwater world. We keep our safety standard extremely high. I can't comment where you have been diving in the past but this isn't something we would compromise. This is not something we will recommend you to do either but we completely understand how passionate you are about diving. We have our course director and senior IDC instructor who can address all your questions. Give us a call but do remove the review since this isn't about how much air you have left. If one diver in your group was a big breather, everyone in that group had to return to boat. Since you had 35 minutes, it is actually a very good group. This is a guided trip. It would make sense with your review had we advertised that we are in ocean uber business.

Disappointing trip with Waikiki Dive Center. As a previous customer with Waikiki Dive Center with over 50 dives with this company is sad to see that new ownership and has effectively killed off a once solid dive operator.

I signed up for the deep wreck and shallow reef charter which states on the website you need to have advanced, deep certification or recent diving with the operator which should mean there will only be experienced divers on the trip. The “wreck” was uneventful and after a single loop of the ship we were headed back to the boat. I understand there are depth time limits but the amount of time spent under water was surprisingly fast as I had dove the previous day with a different operator and the group had about 15 minute longer bottom times. After a short 20 minute surface interval we were back down to the shallow reef but after a quick 15 minute loop of the reef we were once again headed back to the boat.

Prices with the new operator have gone up by $20 per charter but bottom time has dropped significantly. Previous owners allowed the buddy pairs to stay on the reef so that one heavy breather wouldn’t ruin the trip for everyone else.

There was also no dive briefing before the reef dive which I thought was surprising and unsafe. The guide seemed disinterested and never pointed out any sea life.

While this tour is adequate for beginner divers I would recommend experienced divers to stay away. You’ll end up coming back with air in the tank and be frustrated and dissatisfied with the trip.

Trip advisor needs to consider deleting many of the reviews on their website prior to 2021 as many of those positive reviews don’t reflect the current state of the business.

This is one repeat customer that will not be

Aloha Travis, We take your feedback seriously and conducted our investigation with our senior IDC Instructor and our course director, of which the previous ownership didn’t have on staff. I can confidently say that we have a set of strict codes in safety standard that is unprecedented, of which evidently has transformed the Waikiki Dive Center from the previously 2.1 stars by the former ownership to 4.8 in only 10 months by the current ownership. I understand your emotions that you had a close relationship with the previous employee Rhed and ownership. I can’t comment on how your feel but I can show you the result of our investigations. Our finding shows that your summary were nonfactual and ignorant in diving safety. 1. You said our bottom time was short and someone else had a longer bottom time. Our response: Faults. Go to the others at your own risk. For over 100ft dive, our bottom time is 15-20 mins with a minimal 30 mins surface time, no exceptions. For Longer bottom time the air will become toxic for your body. I see that you did not show us you are nitrox certified and you were not using nitrox. I would not recommend you to overlook the depth table for bottom time. 2. You said that our dive pro was not interested in his job, didn’t find marine animals and did not provide briefing before the second dive. Our response: we do extensive briefing at the beginning of the dive. The interim briefing before the second dive is to be short and sweet on dive site name and depth etc, of which our dive pro did exactly as what our safety guideline prescribed. The dive pro you had was known for octopus tracker. And in addition not once you were telling the crew you weren’t happy. 3. Previous ownership will pair buddies to stay down longer. Our response: we recognize that it’s every diver’s wish to stay down longer. However, we are no longer operating in a way that’s unsafe and irresponsible. I don’t know if it was even true that the previous ownership was doing that so I have no actual data to work with. This is a guided tour. We do not leave any diver behind. We are not ocean uber. It's a wrong idea and that is not what we do. Again, it’s wrong and irresponsible to do, and even suggest. It's not about which way is better. It's completely unsafe. If this is not something you are used to, I’m sorry. I’m available if you’d like to give the shop a call. I’m happy to help explain what’s safe and new at Waikiki Dive Center. Dive safely, WDC

Dive master Jarred has a power control problem. I recommends he gets out of the customer service industry. My second dive I’ve ever been on and he proceeded to bully me and get in my face on the boat for “not listening”. I recommended finding other dive shops that hire better divemasters. They also messed up our bookings and missed booking us for one of our 5 day dive package. Boat was also cramped, basically sitting on top of each other.

First experience diving, let alone in Waikiki. This was an extremely unpleasant experience.

Safety always comes first; fun is secondary. We have already reduced the standard instructor diver ratio so that fewer divers are guided by one instructor.

Another amazing dive with an amazing dive shop! This is a five star shop that prioritizes safety and respects wildlife. We dive exclusively with this company and recommend it to experienced and beginner divers.

Shout out to Yoshi, Josh, Alex, Cameron, and Christian for being amazing captains and dive masters. They make so much effort to point out cool sea life and have great attitudes!

First ocean dive for this Utah guy. What a great experience. Christian was a wonderful dive master caring for us and assuring our safety while getting us in position to see turtles and many fish with a four foot white
Tip shark cruising nearby. Captain Steve assured we were comfortable and taken care of. This is a great trip to we a wreck, the sea tiger, and dive the deep pipe reef. Waikiki dive center is first class and reasonably priced

It was a great experience when we got to dive. We booked 3 days and did a deep dive to see the ship wreck and some shallow ones. We got to see 3 white tip sharks and like 8 turtles! Christian was an amazing divemaster and guided us through all the dives. It was something around 8 people on a small boat, so don't expect being distanced for this one, but it's fine, really. The only couple of issues were that we had to wait like 2 hours at the shop for one of the days because the charter before us was delayed. The 3rd day we had to cancel because the boat's engine was not working properly, but when we got back to the shop, we got a refund because we didn't have any more time to reschedule. Staff was friendly!

The dive instructor and boat captain were very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We got 2 pretty long dives around a reef close to the harbor and felt safe and well informed by our instructor and captain. We saw two turtles, but the reef itself was not the most exciting I have seen (not the dive center's fault, just don't have too high expectations).

However, they called me 2 hours (!!) before the dive trying to cancel because they didn't have enough guests. After a bit of complaining, they agreed to take us out anyway for what ended up being a private tour with just us, which we highly appreciate. I understand the reasoning behind wanting to cancel when there aren't enough guests, but I'd expect to get a heads-up at least 24 hours before.

But aside from that, it was a fantastic experience with nice people and good equipment and I would love to dive with this center again.

I'm a dive instructor in Key West, FL, and dive for work daily. What do I do on vacation, take dive trips of course. This time I was getting back to Hawaii to dive again after 26 years. My Buddy and I chose Waikiki Dive Center because their shop was conveniently located downtown (and turned out to be two blocks from the hotel my friend and I chose). Quick and easy check in online, just as quick and easy at the shop. If you don't take your on gear they have what appeared to be well maintained dive gear. Their boat leaves from a marina just a few minutes away, basically in Ala Moana park. If you want to drive there is parking at the marina, or if you're walking they provide transport. The trips leave early but I learned that was to get to the sites early, ahead of the competition. The boat we took was the smaller, older, blue boat you'll see in their pictures (sorry, didn't get one). But it was a clean, comfortable, and functional. The crew, Captain Yoshi and Divemaster Alex, were both excellent, safe, and fun to dive with. The first two days of diving the reef may not have been really colorful, but we did get to dive with pods of Spinner Dolphins. We also saw a turtle, sometimes several turtles, on every dive. If you're looking for dive shop to use on Oahu this is a good choice.

We had such a good time going to Sea Tiger Shipwreck. Each time we see it, it is different. Our divemaster, Dillon, was amazing, and we had dived with him two other times, so it was nice to have that consistency. We also had several folks who we had been diving with over out time in Hawaii, and it made for such a great Christmas Dive! Dillon was great at checking in with all of us throughout the dive, and ensuring safety was primary. We loved the staff, and even our boat captain, Yoshi. What a great experience. We saw so much and enjoyed our time out on the water, thanks Waikiki Dive Center!
