A great dive shop and crew
I really enjoyed diving with these folks. The team there is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, the prices are reasonable and the equipment is all in good shape. Really liked the wreck dive which was at 105 feet. I’d definitely go back... (check out Pili, the dive shop dawg)

Great visit!
Great dive shop ! The staff were awesome, friendly and very safe. Liz was great, energetic and very safe. Some state she’s too safe, however, I’d rather have a DM who cared for our well-being/safety ! The dive shop was nice enough to pick me up from my hotel and drop me off, with no extra fee. Enjoy your diving !

Very Disappointed
On the positive side of being picked up early was a plus. The old beat up Ford van with no markings. Arrived at the shop and was given miss matched finns, old ass wet suits with rips and tears. Marco our instructor was more a tour guide. Was not allowed to wound off, if so you would not be allowed to dive on the second dive. Boat Captain was a grumpy old dude. Keep searching there is better dive companies out there. Happy diving!

Good company but terrible guide
Sep 2019
Recently, we visited Hawaii and wanted scuba dive. We used Waikiki Dive Center for the two tank wreck/reef dive. We were excited and were greeted by a late arrival of an employee to receive gear, but everyone is island time so we were not worried. So we all get on the boat and gear up. Before hopping in the water, we were not told the tour would be completely guided i.e. follow the guide in a single file line. When we descended, we were around each other however not in single file order and our guide (Lizzy) proceeded to scold us underwater for not following the rules. There was also another diver who had a gear issue and Lizzy scolded him for not swimming across the shipwreck for help. The shipwreck and reef were beautiful however due to having poor communication and a scolding school teacher scuba guide, the tour was tainted. If you use this company steer clear of Lizzy!

Stay Away
Jul 2019 • Solo
Dove with this outfit on 7 July. The only positive I can offer is the divemaster on the boat, Liz. She was very friendly and engaging. The rest of the operation at this outfit was unprofessional from the other two employees on the boat to the boat itself to the gear.

I was picked up at my hotel in Honolulu - a plus - and driven to the dive shop. The fitting process was fine. When it was time to leave, we piled 9 divers into an old Ford van with no AC and no working seat belts for the 25 minute drive to the dive site.

We were met at the boat ramp by another employee (not sure of his qualifications (he never introduced himself), but did not mind smoking a cigarette around the oxygen tanks. When I asked him not to do that, he just laughed it off.

We then had to wait 15 minutes for another boat to launch before our boat could get to the boat ramp where all the paying passengers pitched in to help load tanks and gear, Thought we paid for this to get done!

Off to the first dive site. Water was rough, but we all wanted to dive. I think most of the divers were of average experience level (I am a divemaster), but not one employee helped the paying passengers into their gear. We were on our own. I ended up helping several others into their gear. Once in the water, the dive was average. good visibility, but not much fish life.

Dive number two was a different story. Shallow reef diving. Strong current with lots of surge activity. We did see many turtles, but the dive was a lot of work because of the strong current.

Finally, the boat was terrible. Single diesel inboard with strong fumes on board. Several people were sick, partially due to the waves, but mostly due to the strong diesel fumes. Very cramped. No fresh fruit between dives. Water bottles in a cooler, but no ice. We were told many times to drink all the water in the bottle if we take one. Really!

I dive 100 times a year and have never been with an outfit like this. Once on the boat, you are on your own, so you had better know what you are doing.

Better yet, stay away!

We went on two amazing dives, one to about 100' for a sunken ship and another around 60' to a couple reefs. The dive team here is top notch!

Don't book with these cowboys
Do not book with this company.

Did my first dive with these people and it was a terrible introduction to diving. MY partner was with me, who is an experienced diver and one other person doing his open water certification. Only for my partner going through stuff with me before the dive I wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds in the water. The instructor wasn't keeping an eye on me at all. Anything could have happened and he wouldnt have noticed.

There was just one instructor who had to do the testing with the other fella whilst I didn't have a clue what to do. Before getting in the water there was little instructions on what to do. The equipment was worn and old.

We did a 2 tank dive with no safety stops on either dives and very little surface interval. When my partner tried doing his safety stop he was shoved on the line to go to the surface. My partner has hundreds of dives with 20 years experience and he has never come across such unsafe practices.

If you are a beginner or just value your life, do not book with these cowboys.

Great day on the water
Nov 2018 • Couples
To start off with - Dev (I believe her full name is Devon?) Is amazing, we chatted for about 2-3 weeks via email setting up the dives for my partner and I. My partner is fairly new to diving and was a wee bit anxious en Devs assured us the sites a fantastic and she should sit out the first site but come along on the second. Best recommendation for a plan.

We met the crew on the day. Mannie pick us up, totally fun chilled out dude and Red, an older "hippie" style awesome bloke.

Got our gear squared away, got in the van, straight on the boat - than in to the water no mucking around. Love it, quick safety brief before we all went in for both dives.

Had a blast, would most certainly come back.

PLUS!! they have the cutest Pitbull named Peali at the centre who loves cuddles and pats. Could totally sit there all day with him patting him...or steal him and take him home :P

Sold trip, can't wait to come back

Great diving, great staff
Sep 2018 • Couples
We went for a two tank dive, one at a wrecked ship and the other at Turtle Canyon. Both dive sites had great visibility, and we saw rays, turtles, and a huge array of fish. We really regret not bringing our Go Pro, as we saw so many amazing things... If you have one, don't forget it!!

Liz and Manny are both experienced and friendly guides, who really put us at ease and looked after us during the whole experience. The trip had a great guide to customer ratio - we were 3 : 1, so it felt like a personal experience.

The dive was really well priced, especially compared to others that we have seen on Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island. The cost included hire of all the equipment we needed, and pick-up & drop-off at our hotel. Pick-up was running about half an hour late, and there was no briefing or run-through after the dive. We are pretty newly qualified divers and would have loved the chance to talk with the guides about all the species we saw etc, but for more experienced divers this probably wouldn't be an issue at all.

We had a great time and would absolutely recommend diving with Waikiki Diving Centre!

Disappointing experience
When we booked to come to Hawaii, the main thing I wanted to do was to dive at Turtle canyon. I mentioned that turtle canyon was the main thing we wanted to do and was told a request had been put in. The staff were easy enough to deal with by email.

The day of our dive we waited in the shop for a long time. Luckily there was a gorgeous dog there who was happy to fill the time with lots of pats and playing. The gear was good quality for rentals and had integrated weight pockets. It could have been a more streamlined process with getting everyone ready, although it turned out the boat wasn’t ready anyway so whilst at the dock, we did some more waiting around.

I was slightly concerned that there were some “discover scuba” people who spoke minimal English had suitcases with them. I assumed that the dive shop would have ensured they weren’t flying straight after diving and decided it wasn’t my business. Although, having seen that safety doesn’t seem to be fundamental value of this dive shop I am not confident.

I was impressed with the pre dive talk given to the non certified divers. It was clear, informative and reassuring for the people who spoke English.

There was a boat safety talk and the skipper introduced himself. The other staff members did not introduce themselves.

There boat ride was short and I was very grateful for not getting sea sick!!!

The was no briefing....I asked the DM what sites we were doing, he didn’t know and he didn’t find out this information.

Many of the tanks were not bungeed down and the staff on board did not seem overly worried about checking this.

Luckily my partner and I are able to put our gear together ourselves but there was little assistance given to those who possibly needed it.

There was no time for buddy checks and the staff did not remind people to ensure to do them. Just gear on and in the water. There were people who were not experienced divers and they were left to assemble own gear and check themselves with no time to ask for assistance.

The water temperature was absolutely beautiful and the water clear and post card perfect.

The first dive went along a pipe. It was pretty average. We come back with lots of air in our tank but understand that’s part of group diving.

We had what had to be the shortest interval period ever. Snacks aren’t provided which is ok, although every other dive boat I’ve been on offers at least some chips or lollies.

We then hopped straight back in and went for our second dive. Again no dive brief. We did see a gorgeous big green sea turtle. Not exactly the turtle canyon I was expecting. I don’t know if we even went to turtle canyon (I expect not).

It also may have been beneficial to have the skipper at the back helping people up a bit by taking their fins etc or help stabilising them getting back on the boat.

Overall, I would say it was an average dive. By far the most unprofessional, unsafe and non streamlined dive company I’ve ever been with. The dives certainly weren’t worth the money. And what was meant to be a holiday highlight was the opposite.
