Loved our adventures using Shaka Guide! Even though I'm a planner, we never would have seen as much researching the driving tours on our own as we did with Shaka.
We purchased the bundle and did 3 of the drives - Reverse Road to Hana, Sunrise at Haleakala and West Maui Coastline Tours. The Sunrise at Haleakala drive is easy, the other two not so much. The Reverse Road to Hana was good, we took it slow & steady, but a week after we did this part of the road washed away, so make sure you know the road conditions before going. The West Maui Coastline drive was insane - the roads are on the side of the cliff, many without guardrails and many were one lane, so if another car comes, someone has to reverse. This was white knuckle driving for sure! I wouldn't recommended the West Coastline drive, but the rest were great!
I love that the guide is upbeat and fun! He gives you the info on the spot before you arrive so you can decide if it's something you want to stop for. There's also sections to find food and other things.
You can download this ahead of time so even if you do not have signal or it's weak it will work off of your GPS. We also used Shaka for Kauai and it was great.
I can't imagine going to Hawaii without these guides!

I wish I had found this earlier! I come to the islands a lot, and this guide was well worth the cost. We nicknamed the host “Bob”, who was very informative, gave us history lessons and explained local legends, and took us anywhere we needed to go! If you’ve already rented a car, there is no need to also book a tour. “Bob” gives you turn by turn directions, tells you where to stop, explains what you will see and how long it will take, and also makes suggestions about which stops are highly recommended and which stops you can skip if you’’re pressed for time. I highly recommend it!

We used the Shaka app for the Road to Hana in Maui. So glad we did because even though I had researched and knew a little of what to expect, that road is a little crazy. The guide was very helpful in making us feel like we weren’t missing out and knowing when to stop. It was easy to use and we enjoyed the upbeat narrator, the music, and found the history on the stops informative. When the tour ended, we were kind of sad not to have our guide for the rest of our trip! Easy to download beforehand since cell service is very limited on the Hana Hwy. It’s also very flexible. We did the road over two and a half days and the tour was for one day. We just stopped and started it as we wanted and it never had a problem knowing where we were.

We purchased this after using the Guide in Kuaui last year. We did the Reverse Road to Hana, the Classic Road to Hana (because you can't finish in a day), West side Maui, and the Sunset tour. All were good, although a few needed a little better directions as entrances were completely covered with growth, and a few places were closed.
We definitely saw things that we wouldn't have found without the Guide.

Nice alternative to a tour bus in Covid times.
We struggled to get started properly on the App on the road to Hana but it worked on the return trip. We had driven the north shore loop before we got the Shaka Guide

Bought this app before we got to Maui primarily for going to Hana but used it first today for a trip to West Maui and it paid for itself today! It is a great app that uses the GPS function to track where you are and give you info on that area as well as directions turn by turn if necessary. Best tour guide ever in my car telling us places and things to do that we wouldn't have done on a tour bus or driving on our own. Plug it in to your USB on your car and four of us heard the tour all day. It is GREAT! For $20 we received a $400-$500 value today only! can't wait to use it when we take the Road to Hana!

We absolutely loved this guide. Great stories and so so helpful. Helped you stay on time so you weren’t driving winding unfamiliar roads after dark. Great ideas for food shopping and bathrooms. We really do t think the trip would have been as fun without it!

The guide is super good. Helped us to to plan our routes. Moreover, their trips are downloadable, so we knew where to go always, even when there was no reception.
They guide was entertaining, teaching, and was easily guiding us to all of the places we wanted to go. It's also very easy to skip attractions you don't want.

This was a wonderful driving tour. Definitely download the tour prior to driving the routes, as you will not have Wi-Fi for most of the Road to Hana area. It plays when you are close to an attraction but not constantly; which is nice so you can chat on the drive with your friends and family in the car.
The itineraries that are suggested are helpful to use as well. I'm a little OCD so I printed the actual itineraries off so I could reference that information in case we did not have reception; which was often.
Great narratives mixed with cultural insights, safety tips and well placed humor too. Nice mixture of traditional (hula kahiko style chanting) music and more modern Hawaiian music as well.

What a great commentary! Loved the way it pointed out all the sites on the road and told us how to get to Red Sand Beach in HANA! Also on the long way back the navigator had lots of interesting stories! Definitely worth it. Had a little trouble with the Blue tooth but once it connected we were fine. The GPS worked amazing even when there was not Cell signal. Definitely worth the money.

I am interested in the Maui Adventure Bundle for $24.99 but want to understand it correctly. We are here for 4 months, will it work that whole time? Can you use each tour more than once, if we turn back and want to start again from that point another day?

Yes - “Reverse road to Hana” is one of the tours. W bought the bundle and recommend the same. We frequently found ourselves in an area where there was a tour and just jumped on it.
