The concept is really great so we downloaded it and we had my son-in-law use it to direct us. It worked well until we arrived in Kapaa. The tour is designed to originate from Lihue or Kapaa. There is a blue and a red version. Once we arrived in Kapaa the 2 versions kept interfering and gave conflicting instructions so we eventually abandoned the use of this app and followed the descriptive map and our car’s navigation system to find the waterfalls, temple ruins, and arboretum on our own.

We’ve used Shaka Guide for Maui and Kauai, made the trip and tours so much better. Multiple tips of hidden beaches and experiences and loads of stories of Hawaiian history. Mahola.

The guide was pretty good. We liked the narration and the music. They definitely underestimate the time of each tour. And there were a few times it gave the wrong directions. But overall it’s a great way to see the island on your own with lots of helpful information and local tips.

Truly stop taking the 500.00 tours and excursions and download shaka guide! Rent a car (We used TURO) and drive it your self. The shaka GPS knows exactly where you are nails every turn and stop precisely. And gives you plenty of warning to see each attraction. There are added LOCALS ONLY stops that many people don't get to see. and the trip inly cost 60.00 for the car and 19.99 for the download. AND NO ITS NOT TOURING ON A BUDGET. I have paid for the VIP tours and this is just BETTER.

The code provided would not work and I could get absolutely no help from anyone. We paid for the tours but we’re unable to use them! Don’t but on Trip Advisor.

We absolutely loved the guide! We learned a lot of history and the tour guide was funny even though it was virtual. This was definitely the best route to go because you could spend as much time or as little time are you wanted at each stop! Bring your snacks for your little ones and they’ll enjoy it as well!!

Wasn’t sure what to expect. So fun! Great Value!!The narrative is informative, entertaining. Great tips and tricks and the music is unexpectedly good. Especially loved the history of the uplands. Would purchase another and recommend to all!

Our guide (Victor) was great and knowledgeable of the area. We really enjoyed the whole tour. Lunch was just right! Both parks were beautiful! We would highly recommend this tour group!

Enjoyed going at our own pace. Loved hearing about the history of each stop. The parking tips were very helpful.

The tour was perfect! It stayed on track using GPS to see our location, so if we deviated (missed a turn off) it picked up right where we left off. Since hubby wasn’t up to the hiking, he was able to follow along with what I was doing and seeing.

We played these tours while driving around the Big Island and it was worth every penny. We found beautiful places to stop, discovered Ka'u coffee, grabbed snacks at the Punalu'u Bakery, and learned a lot about the history of Hawaii. It made what would have been a boring drive from Kona to Volcanoes National Park more entertaining. We liked the Big Island tours so much, we purchased the tours for O'ahu as soon as we landed. Because of the O'ahu tours, we found great places to stop to take pictures and even went back to one of the North Shore beaches to go snorkeling.

I wish we’d known about this when we did Road to Hana! It was good to have this guidance and we enjoyed the stories told. A little cheesy sometimes but it made the ride fun.

I searched for hours reading up on something different to do that we haven't done in Maui. We decided on the self guided tour to The Complete Road to Hana. First off, the app is a little confusing and the music was like I listening to music when your put on hold. The stops that sounded fun, were not worth getting out of your car. We spent a total of $70 dollars for a 10 minute stop in 2 state parks just to use the restroom. I realize we are in Hawaii but the waterfalls back home in Yosemite National Park are 100 times better and bigger. For people that are scared of other cars, windy narrow roads...STAY OFF THE ROAD or be considerate and pull over so people can pass!!! On the site it shows tons of spots to stop at, well, a lot of them counted as a song. There are no parking spots to stop and take pictures of most of the waterfalls and the "lava cave" thats is only a small hole in a rock located on the narrow road at a sharp curve in the road would have been over looked if it wasn't for the group of people standing in the road almost getting hit. What topped it all off to validate that we weren't being just boring critical people was at the very last stop, the narrator basically said, " Thank goodness for great advertisement from a good marketing team." Nothing looked like any of the pictures that were advertised. 6 hours I can't get back and thank God it was only $20 and we were in our own car.

We LOVED this app. It was well laid out and just added so much to our Hana Highway trip. I can’t imagine it would have been this good without the help of this guide. The narrator, the music, the history lessons, the recommendations and warnings so HELPFUL! We will definitely order more guides from this creator in the future!
