Highly recommend if you're driving yourself down the Road to Hana! This app is so well-developed, and despite having no reception it knew exactly where we were at all times. It was so helpful hearing about the history, culture, and background of the sites and places we were visiting, as well as recommendations on where to stop, where to park, and how to manage our time. Some things were a little repetitive (mainly the many reminders to respect the locals and watch timing) but I understand that, unfortunately, not everyone listens to this advice and many reminders may be necessary. Despite this and a few too many corny jokes, definitely recommend this as a companion if you're driving yourself down the Road to Hana! I also recommend bringing a cord to plug your phone into the car USB port or (if using BlueTooth) a portable power pack - it was helpful to have this play over the car stereo so everyone could clearly hear, and this will drain your battery!

This was the smartest $20 I spent on our trip to Maui!
While we have driven the road to Hana previously, this well thought out narrative led us to places we would not have otherwise been aware or stopped. The fact the guide is GPS based (once downloaded) ties perfectly to the stops and starts you will make on the road and tracks very well.
Definitely recommend this app if you are not taking a human guided tour and prefer a more cost effective tour and want to travel at your own pace.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, the actual role of the driver on this trip is not for the faint of heart or inexperienced driver. The road conditions, sharp turns, narrow bridges and aggressive drivers you will encounter makes for a stressful experience for the driver.

Using this audioguide made our trip so much better than it would have been if we had not purchased this. We had never been to Maui so we did not know the history of the Road to Hana and this made it very entertaining even for our nine-year-old.
We listened to it all the way there and all the way back. It even knows where you stop and start so you don’t get behind or ahead of where you’re located.
It also gives great advice and you can tell that some people don’t know all of the stops that he mentioned because some stops were less crowded than others.
This is perfect for a family and it’s funny and entertaining.

I am so happy that we chose to purchase this $20 Road to Hana tour from Shaka Guide. Without it, we would have missed so much and it would've been a completely different experience. Everyone in the car (me, my wife, and two teenage boys) were captivated for the entire 12 hours that we drove through the windy turns. This is absolutely a MUST HAVE if you are planning to spend a day in the car with the family.

Hello everyone and congratulations for your hard work towards creating one of the best app in the traveling industry. I’ve bought all the Shaka tours for the island of Maui in 2019 and we have already used most of them. In 2022 we visited Oahu and Kauai and we have also gotten all the tours for both islands! Forget the money because every cent was worth it! We have visited many parts of the world but we never had such a feeling of being on a real vacation as while going on your tours and listening along the route. You cannot find anywhere else a guide so complete for this amount.
The tours are funny, entertaining and full of information that would take many hours to read. We traveled with children and they had fun listening to Shaka. The apps are working very well and we were very happy using them. Good luck to the whole team! Daniel from Montreal, Canada

Christmas week 2020 and this App was so superior to my guide books and even an old Travel CD our friends gave us. It’s suggestions, directions and history were remarkable. More importantly it Did NOT use cellular service to work, but the GPS on the phone. It was almost a miracle. unlike a cellular map which is 3-to5 seconds behind your location, this knows exactly where you are in real-time and tells you when to slow down and turn.
During the Pandemic reopening of the road to Hana, some locations are still closed and the App did not know that information. Luckily by December 23, most were open—but not all.
An improvement for the app would be updated during the Pandemic.
Buy it. I hesitate getting the $25 completed set, versus the one trip or Hana Circle. I used the other sets and found them useful,

Ok, this dude for sure doesn’t want tourists to make many stops. He tells you all this cool stuff but then says hey man don’t recommend as there is better stuff down the road! A little annoying because there really isn’t better stuff down the road. He also repeated himself about being nice and respectful to the locals, which is good to do, but almost gives you a guilt trip for being a tourist but apparently wants to make $ off you. I did like the history he shares.

I bought the three Road to Hana driving option tour. This tour guide program is worth every penny you spend on it! I really wish I had used the tour in Oahu too. We loved the stories and since there is no cell service it made us very comfortable as it lead us through the roads and off road attractions too. I highly recommend that if you are going to do the Road to Hana that you use this. The guide tells you all the stops and what to see along the way as well.

This was a great audio tour. My 9 year old loved the stories and kept asking for more. I definetly recommend anyone who is looking to do the road to Hana tour to give this tour a chance. You will not be disappointed.

This app was recommended to us. It was one of the most valuable things we had on our Road to Hana! I had a AAA Triptik which was horrible. Thank goodness we downloaded and purchased the Classic Tour to Hana. We wanted to the Loop Tour but the Shaka app told us there was a road closure due to mudslides. We never would have know that with the Triptik. The Shaka guide was so informative telling little stories about Hawaii and the area as we passed them. Things we never would have know without the guide. Highly recommend and so affordable. Can’t go wrong.

Is this tape available in Spanish or only English? We are going to visit Maui and one member of our group only speaks Spanish so we were thinking of getting this tape or the 6 in 1 tape for her benefit, however ate the last second we noted apparently these tapes appear to be in English.
