    Loved it!
Amazing snorkeling, amazing friendly crew. Loved it! It was more about the education and exploration and less about entertainment which was perfect. Thank you!

Too Windy to visit Molokini and Turtle Arches. Ended up snorkeling along a roadway for $900
2018 - Paid $232.24 for two adults and three kids. Parking was FREE. Had a great trip to Molokini and Turtle Arches. Guides were professional and friendly. It was a memorable experience. 5 Stars. 2023 - Paid $899.75 (+$40 tip) for the same two adults and three teenagers. Parking fee was $13. Both Molokini and Turtle Arches were “blown out” - too windy to visit, so we spent the day at a cove along the 30 highway near Lahaina Pali Trail. Guides were professional and friendly. It was a memorable experience, but at 4x the price we paid in 2018, it was not worth the time and money. 1 star. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. At current prices (plus the parking fee), I can’t recommend this activity. You may end up paying $200 per person to snorkel along a busy highway that could have been visited by foot.

Very educational tour, our family loved it.
The staff was super helpful and informative. The presentations were fun and interesting. We booked a snorkeling trip to the crater and saw so many fish. They provided a wetsuit top for us which helped when the water got a bit cold, also helps avoid sunburns. Ash had a great talk about sharks and how misunderstood they are.

    Crystal clear, beautiful Molikini snorkel
Molokini was so gorgeous! Clearest water of any of the snorkeling we did, and we snorkeled a lot! The Whale Foundation crew were fantastic. They had a marine biologist on board who gave some interesting facts about the marine life , and even led a reef tour in the water! While we were enjoying the sights, the crew grilled us up chicken, hot dogs and veggie burgers with some delicious Macaroni salad which is a staple around here. I can't say enough about this fantastic trip and fantastic crew! Oh, and to top it all off we saw turtles at the Coral Gardens location! I would rate this trip 10/10!

Tour with a cause. All your tickets go towards conservation effort.
We got recommended this company by a local person we were chatting with. We are so glad we went Pacific Whale Foundation. We have taken other trips by other companies in the past and what really stood out for us: 1. The cause of this foundation and it is a .org. 2. Knowledge about the animals and conservation - they had naturalist on board who were very knowledgeable about what we are seeing and how their organization helps 3. Crew on board, from the captain to everyone else, so kind, sweet, and super helpful. We have kids who LOVE marine life, and I am so glad their hunger for knowing and learning was fulfilled by the crew. They were so patient answering all the questions. Best part is, your tickets go towards conservation, what an amazing way to donate and learn. If you are looking for a company during your stay, do not hesitate booking with them. If you have family/friends who LOVE sea animals, then this is the company to go with, to learn and appreciate what we have and how we can conserve our seas!!

    Snorkel Molokini Crater-Maui
Used Pacific Whale Foundation. Sailed on the Ocean Odyssey. Awesome and attentive crew. Served pastries, fruit and coffee for breakfast. After two snorkeling events, served lunch with options of chicken, veggie sandwiches or hot dogs with salad and mac-n-cheese. All profits directed to saving whales, environment, research and more. 6 hour activity.

    Great snorkeling experience
My family of 4 really enjoyed the snorkeling trip from Lahaina. We had a great boat ride and saw many different schools of fish, turtles and dolphins on our boat ride back to the marina. The crew was very nice and helpful. They served a light breakfast and good lunch. It was definitely one of the best trips we've been on for snorkeling. It was also nice because there were only 40 people on the boat so you didn't feel crowded.

    Beautiful sunset cruise
This was a great way to experience a beautiful Hawaiian sunset! Captain Andrew and crew was amazing! He’s quite funny might I add. The swells were a bit much but he did a good job getting us to smoother waters to eat. My advice is take some Bodine if you get sea sick. Overall wonderful experience Mahola Kim

    Best tour ever!
One of the best tours I’ve ever taken. The crew was incredible: kind, caring, helpful, professional... only positive things to say here. What’s also great is that with this tour you are supporting the Pacific Whale Foundation (the organizer of this tour), instead of a commercial tourist corporation, so your money goes towards a great cause. Highly, highly recommend this your —stop looking and book it!

Don’t think twice, book with PAC Whale Foundation
We couldn’t be more impressed with this company. They took such good care of us from the beginning of the trip to the end. Education, safety, food, and all around nice people are the reason I highly recommend going on a Molokini Snorkel and Turtle Island trip with them.

They need to communicate better. The email they provide doesn’t give you directions on where to check in. We found it by looking on the internet. We checked in as directed. Waited close to an hour and a half for our cruise from the check in time. They have you wait with several different cruises they offer. They kept asking for the passengers for a cocktail cruise. I asked the young man to help me figure out if that’s what we have because that’s not what it was called. He walked away without helping. So we kept waiting and got in line with what we understood was our cruise to find out it was the cocktail cruise even though that’s not what it’s called when you book it. A lot of wasted time to find out it was the wrong one. There is clear disorganization and lack of communication with the staff at the dock. We did get a refund and Janet was great, but things need to be stream lined lined. Even if they hand out color coded cards to make sure you are getting the right cruise. It was a wasted evening that we really looked forward to experiencing. I also showed them the emails and not a single one provided where we check in and I had to search the internet to figure it out. We went to the right place, but the staff at the dock were too busy to make sure we were on the right boat.

Aloha Chantel and thank you for bringin this to our attention as we take all such direct feedback very seriously as they serve as our report of what we are doing well and what areas need improvement. We certainly apologize for the lack of service down at the dock and the wasted time, and I will be forwarding your feedback to our Commercial Operations Director and Eco-Tours Manager to review with their staff to ensure such an incident doesn't occur again. In regards to the email you received from us, I'm guessing it may have been the online waiver instead of our actual confirmation email which does indeed contain all such inmportant trip information (checik-in location/time, Google map directions, parking suggestions, Covid policies, etc.). If you booked through an outside agency, they may have provided us with only your phone contact and the waiver email was sent via text. Unfortunately our confirmation can't be delivered in the same way from our reservation system. If you booked direct and received our confirmation, there should have been a orange bar that says "Click here for your importantt trip information" a little ways down in the confirmation copy. In any case, we do apologize and appreciate you taking the time to let us know of your situation. Please feel free to reach out to me if you are still on island or on your next visit to Maui and we'll send you out again for free. You may contact me diriectly at johngaskins@pacwhale.com. Mahalo.

This trip was very disappointing. My husband and I are residents of Maui and we usually take people on either a snorkel tour, a sunset cruise or a dinner cruise. This was the worst experience we have had. The boat was very grubby and the food and drink was sub-par. Most of the boat we were on (Ocean Spirit) did not have tables for the outside passengers. We were told the boat was licensed for 93 passengers and there were less than 40 passengers on this cruise. I have no idea where the rest of all those people would sit. There were six of us who had to sit inside at a table which had crumbs on it from the previous cruise. The windows were dirty and we had to sit on steps to enjoy some fresh air and the view. The hot appetizers were cool and limp and of poor quality. The shrimp was the last appetizer to be served. Having watched the shrimp sit on a counter for at least half an hour we decided not to have any.

I would like to say that the crew was attentive and made up for some of the deficiencies but, although they were very cheerful, they chatted incessantly with only one or two passengers and the rest of us were neglected.

To boot, the commemorative photo taken at the beginning of the cruise was over-exposed!

Aloha and thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback about your extremely disappointing experience on our sunset sail out of Lahaina harbor. Although this is an extremely popular and highly rated experience, obviously that was not the case in your instance. I have already forwarded your feedback to our Eco-Tour Director for her review as well. We want all of our guests to have an amazing time with us. We understand that sometimes that for various reason, there are times when that doesn't happen. That's why such feedback is so valuable to us and serves as a report card that we utilize for additional training, processes review, etc. I welcome you to reach out to me directly at johngaskins@pacwhale.com as we always ty to make it right when performance on our end isn't up to our standards and expectations are not met. I look forward to hear from you soon.

We were really looking forward to an adults only sunset sail from Lahaina harbor, only to get a call that very morning to let us know it was cancelled! We were offered a "free upgrade" to their dinner cruise, but we had little interest in being stuck on a boat for a four course meal of unknown quality.

How is it fair that a tour operator that requires 48 hours notice of cancellation can cancel our sunset sail with only 8 hours of notice?

We're sorry to hear about the cancellation, but it looks as if there were simply not enough people booked on your tour to actually run it without losing money. I think the hope is more customers would book it, but the decision was made to cancel when that didn't happen. We simply can't run a tour that operates at a loss. We're sorry for the late notice, but did offer to upgrade you to our dinner cruise at no cost or reschedule you. We do understand your disappointment, but it's that late whale season downturn in customers. We do hope that you enjoyed your time on Maui.

This sunset sail was excellent! The vessel was very nice, and the appetizers and drinks were very good! The crew was wonderful! They were all so kind, friendly, and attentive to the guests onboard. The musician was so enjoyable to listen to as we sailed along peacefully relaxing, enjoying the sunset and the beautiful ocean waters. I would definitely recommend this excursion!

Don’t waste your money ! Everything I’ve done I’m Hawaii that I booked threw trip advisor wads great . This trip was horrible . First you pay all this money and barley get any food. They passed around quesadillas when we asked for ours the response was “ oh sorry we’re running short of food tonight there is no more “
But we never even got one . The food is horrible and nothing service sucks . Not worth it at all . I never write reviews but I had to because I wish I never spent this type of money for nothing .

Thank you so much for bringing your horrible experience to our attention. Nothing you mentioned matches the high standards we have set for our customer service and catering requirements and I offer you my sincerest apologies. Unfortunately sometimes such direct customer feedback is the only way we learn about such issue, so I thank you. It will certainly be reviewed by our Commercial Operations Director and Eco Tour Manager for correction and retraining. In the meantime, please reach out to me directly at johngaskins@pacwhale.com, so I can get the particulars of your booking and make sure you are refunded in full through the Trip Advisor system. PacWhale Eco-Adventure sunset cruise was more than we could have hoped for. Let's start with the staff who made us feel like friends, not tourists. Jess and Dana took good care of us delivering pupus and drinks throughout the expedition. They were also a wealth of knowledge and shared their love of these Hawaiian waters with us. Dan was our trusted captain giving the whales plenty of respectful space while still giving us time to observe. Finally, David, our resident ukulele player added a very special touch of magic with his beautiful tunes and love of Maui. All in all, we could not have asked for more. A truly magical night. Please support these great folks. You won't be disappointed.

The day of our Sunset Sail was the only day we experienced rain during our stay on Maui. I believe a lot of people had rescheduled, but the trip was not canceled by the operator and we went ahead with it. There was enough space inside for all of us and we stayed in during the start. Then the rain stopped and we were all able to go outside. The food was good, the service was excellent and timely and the singer with the Ukelele was entertaining and provided some information about the area. I always enjoy getting out on the water when visiting and this crew did the best they could while not being able to provide a sunset.

The sunset sail was really nice. We enjoyed the sunset views, and the overall vibe of the trip. Even saw a whale and heard their sounds. Lots of food and drinks onboard. Crew was nice and there was a musician who played our favorite tune.

Took this the 2nd week of March and saw so many whales it was unbelieveable. The cruise was great and the staff was excellent. Some general advice, you don't need to show us extremely early as you stand around but certainly be there at least 30 minutes before departure time. Also, be one of the first on the boat as they ran out of seats on our trip. They have seats up front with your legs on/over the netting at the bow of the ship - sit there if you can, it is an awesome view. Finally, this is more of a Whale watching tour. Sunset was actually 15 minutes AFTER we returned to port - that was disappointing or I I would have given it 5 starts.

I’ll start out saying that the views were amazing! Otherwise it was an overall disappointment. We got there at 4:45P, as they advised, and we were told to go wait on the sidewalk (where we waited for over 45 minutes). As we were boarding, I gave my name to an employee and she said-you didn’t check in at the store. I advised that we filled out the required form ahead of time and we were not advised by anyone to check in at the store. I asked if we needed to do so and she said no but we do have a 4 step checkin process. Again, we followed the directions we were given. Once we were finally able to get onboard-I was unable to get a welcome drink. I was asked by one employee what I would like to drink. I advised her and then she walked right by me with a tray of drinks to serve another section of the boat. When snacks were served, the crew served the same sections tray after tray. They ran out of food so we did not receive some of the offered items. Finally, when it was time to get off the boat the Captain scolded people because they walked under a rope that was tied to the side of boat. He said, the rope was placed there for a reason, I don’t know why any of you would walk under that. Maybe people wouldn’t have walked that way had they given directions on the route they wanted people to use. Overall disappointing! Definitely not worth the price. Take another cruise instead. Only two out of four crew members were friendly the others were down right rude!
