Wonderful Experience at Maui Tropical Plantation
We loved our time at the Maui Tropical Plantation in April 2023. They were kind and responsive via email before we arrived and once we were there we had a great tour. Our tour guide was fun and informative. The area was very beautiful to explore and learn. We took lots of photos during the tour and around the entrance area of the property. There were washrooms right at the area where you wait to board the tram. During the tram tour we got to meet and buy handmade sea glass jewellery from Plantation Mike and enjoyed the most delicious lunch at Cafe O'Lei.

    Friendly informative tour, worth doing
Welcoming local tour with some great information about many plants.Great demonstration of coconut husking and some local artwork/jewellery. Farm shop is full of top quality produce. Our children (9 and 11) both said it was the best trip we did on Maui.

Great for children and elderly adults!
We had a great time at Maui Tropical Plantation. There was a large general store to browse, the smoothies from the cafe were delicious, and the train tour of the plantation was totally worth it. Perfect for a relaxing and fun half of your day.

    Train tour
The tour was a good way to see the plantation and get an idea of all the things that could grow on Maui. There was some issues with the volume at the beginning, making it hard to understand what the guide was saying. The cocunut opening demonstration was great, but we would have expected more fruits tasting for the price paid. Overall a nice experience.

    Cool Maui Experience
We had the best tour guide to take us around the Maui Plantation! She was knowledgeable, friendly and interesting. We learned about Maui history, agriculture, art and culture. We were so lucky to meet the artist of the many beautiful sculptures near his studio. He added a special aspect to our tour. We also enjoyed the lovely store and bought some of the little apple bananas and some ice pops. We had a great day! I would highly recommend the Maui Plantation to locals and visitors.

    Fun and Informative
First of all, yes, the plantation express is expensive, but compared to the $260+ it would cost to visit a coconut or mango farm, the $80 felt quite reasonable. Our guide, Anna-Lisa, was great and did a good job not only discussing the various edible and non-edible plants on the grounds, but also using them to explain and illustrate Native Hawaiian culture. The kids especially loved the coconut husking demonstration. The grounds themselves are beautiful and worth exploring. The shop at the plantation is expensive but has some great gifts and we particularly enjoyed the apple bananas that we bought there. Overall worth a visit.

Wonderful place to revisit after 20 years!
We came here on our honeymoon 20 years ago and it was so fun to come back and see all the changes! We had brunch at Cafe O'lei and did the tour and explored the grounds again. We unfortunately left our purchase sitting ont he grounds and didn't discover it till the next day. On the way to the airport we stopped again to see if we could find them and the two ladies at the counter were so sweet about it. Amazing we found our bag and only the papaya got raided by a mongoose and everything else was fine! The ladies were so tickled we found it and then graciously gifted us another papaya cut up for us to enjoy before we went to the airport. It was so sweet of them! We will definitely be back again!

    Relaxing Tour!
Beautiful farm with lots of flowers and plants which our tour guide told us all about. She was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved her coconut demo, now I can crack a coconut in no time! Relaxing tour but beware of the wind! Loved the marketplace with lots of local products to choose from.

    Love it !!
The plantation tour was amazing, small but super picturesque garden, informative tour including displaying of coconut 🥥 breaking was superb. Loved the typical windy and calm serene weather here. It's very one of kind weather on this particular place, due to mountain behind it. Just loved the way they have planted all the trees including banana, avocado, mango, papaya, coconut, coffee beans and more . Kids absolutely loved it !!

    Nice Getaway
We had a lovely time at Maui Vista. The location is perfect, we walked to pretty much everything we needed in Kihei. The space was perfect for our teen upstairs and us downstairs. The one downside to this unit is the downstairs bedroom is hot. The AC unit in the living room does not reach the bedroom, so one of us (who sleeps hot) slept on the couch where it was cooler. Would highly recommend a window unit in that bedroom!

    Nice Tour
The tour was a good length, especially for families with younger children. My husband was hoping for a bit more information, instead of just overviews. Not bad for the price and something different to do.

We toured the plantation on this trolley and you also could walk around and see all the beautiful flowers and plants. The use much of what is raised in the restaurant there and also have a large souvenir building. Come see it while you at on the island.

Overall, the tour was fun. Like the other reviews, the tour was pretty short. There was one stop for the coconut demonstration and after, we looked at different agricultural plants the rest of the ride. The coconut demonstration was entertaining and informative. Our guide was friendly and bubbly. After the tour, you can look around at the market, feed the ducks and fish, and enjoy a meal at the restaurant.

I was skeptical at first, but the Maui Tropical Plantation Tour with Sarah was really awesome! During the tour Sarah taught me so much about both Hawaiian culture and plantation operations. She was highly energetic, super entertaining, and a pleasure to spend time with. We saw papaya trees with a ripe fruit, an incredible coconut busting demonstration, Maui artwork, even animals! I got a great appreciation for the Maui rural lifestyle and history that I had no idea existed. Kudos to Sarah and the Maui Tropical Plantation Tours..an experience no ka 'oi!!

My husband and I rode a tram while a guide told us about the history of the plantation, demonstrated coconut husking, and shared fresh pineapple cups at the conclusion. The grounds are especially pretty, and their large gift shop is always a pleasure to browse. Good value for the price of the tour. Also appreciated was that we were allowed to change to an earlier tour at the last minute when our previous excursion didn't pan out.

I came here with my family in December and it was a cute place to visit if you are looking to kill an hour or two. The Tropical Express tour gives a great overview of the plantation and all that is grown there. When you exit the tour, you are given some delicious fresh pineapple. They have a zip-line course that looks like it is geared towards younger children, and the kids participating seemed to have a blast.

Great place to stop for lunch after arriving in Maui from the airport or after a sunrise visit at the volcano crater. Restaurant food was excellent.
The tram tour of the plantation was excellent, very knowledgeable tour guide. Coconut opening demonstration was great and information on the different vegetation on the island was very informative.
Historical displays on the old sugar cane plantation were also very informative.
The plantation store is also a great place to shop.

We had a rainy day to kill and heard that this tour was a really good one. I think the tour was great but there isn't too much in the off season to see growing or sample. The pineapple at the end was lovely and the tour guide was great. The shops to buy coffee/iced coffee and souvenirs were awesome. I would have loved to sample pineapple and see how to slice it but I am sure most people already know how. Farm market at the front is also awesome. Very clean property, restaurant and washrooms.

We enjoyed Plantation Mike's talk before the tram ride. But the tram tour was not very informative... unless you've never seen a pineapple or banana tree before. Our tour guide must have been brand new at his job. The grounds looked unmaintained and not tour worthy.
The gift shop was nice and had a good variety.

My family loved this place! It was gorgeous. Taking the tram was great for the kids and very educational. We were told we could sample fruits and drink fresh coconut water, but the farm was closed sundays and we were only given pineapple to sample. It’s a bit pricey but a great one time experience. Great gift shop, friendly staff. Gorgeous grounds to walk around.
