Ryan was a wonderful guide and he made sure our family had a great experience during our Lahaina Kayak & Snorkel excursion. He was knowledgeable, fun, kind and patient. We had a wide age range in our group and Ryan was able to make sure that each of us felt comfortable, safe and appropriatle challenged. We saw lots of ocean life including a sea turtle. This activity was one of the highlights of our trip.

Leah was fantastic! She had a cool sea turtle vibe and so was able to get us up close to many turtles. I would call her a sea turtle whisperer...She made us all feel really comfortable from the start. If you’re new to kayaking and snorkeling she would be great. Our group from oregon, was a little more experienced and she was still great—so quick with de-fogger! If you stay on her good side she might even sing and call some whales...

Special thanks to Leah for all her tips and encouragement for this novice ocean snorkler. She was able to get us to the calmer, less murky waters as conditions changed so we could see the turtles and reef life. Memorable and fun experience.

This “excursion” isn’t an excursion at all, it’s just a quick 2-minute paddle down the beach. Save your money and go snorkelling on your own — find the white pole in the shallow water behind 505 Front St. and snorkel there (you can touch the sand). It’s the same experience as this “excursion”. It is a complete scam.
Our guide brought us out approx. 100 from
shore where we waited for 30 minutes before he determined the water was too choppy. He then brought us approx. 20 feet from shore and told us we could snorkel there. The water was so shallow it barely came up to our knees — we felt like children playing in a kiddie pool. He provided no direction as to what to do or how to protect the reef (e.g. don’t touch the reef, sea turtles, etc.). It’s not a “tour” at all.
We understand that weather gets in the way sometimes. But instead of giving their customers a less-than-ideal experience, Maui Ocean Sports should have just canceled the trip (or given everybody the option to do so) and provided refunds.
Also, we have repeatedly tried to contact Maui Ocean Sports about our experience and have gotten no response, leaving us feeling completely scammed. Don’t book with Maui Ocean Sports!!!

Mark is an excellent guide and made the experience so relaxing. We waited patiently for some whale action, but not a single one. It was okay though, because it was such a peaceful morning. We did see several turtles on our way out and as we returned- which was very cool. We also got to snorkel for a bit which was an awesome experience! If you are looking for something to really take in the island of Maui - I highly recommend this and do it first thing in the morning- you won’t be disappointed!

A marvelous experience! We were worried because it was cloudy and a bit rough, but our guide got us into deep water, we saw turtles and eventually swam with them, were sounded by dolphin at one point, the colors of the water and mountains in the background were spectacular. And can’t say enough about the guides- pulling us back on the boats, encouraging and patience with everyone’s needs. Thank you. We’ll be back!

Armadillo was the coolest guide. He was laidback and knowledgeable about Maui, Ocean Life, and really let you have your own space but was always happy to help. He is one cool dude. Sea turtles were everywhere and snorkeling in this area was amazing. Kayaking was a little tough with the low tide and the coral but we were guided around it and it was awesome!

We could have easily been identified as first time kayakers. We were often lagging behind and/or out of position, and getting in and out of the kayak while in the water was challenging for us. Fortunately our guide was very patient as well as informative and safety conscious. We were only out for about an hour when the wind kicked up so he moved us to more shallow water and we came in early. That was fine by us - we were exhausted. In spite of all that, we had fun and definitely plan to do it again on our next visit to Maui.

Mark was my tour guide for the Kayak & Snorkeling Excursion in May 2019. Mark was excellent in guiding us through the reef as to not touch it with our kayak or paddle.He gave us great information about Maui and the ocean. The kayaking and snorkeling was a lot of fun! I saw many sea turtles. The views were beautiful around us. Mark is a super nice person. Well worth doing this excursion.

Wife and I did the Lahaina Kayak & Snorkel excursion with Ryan. He was fantastic leading our small group and providing great insight into the island and the Lahaina coastline. We liked the small group experience (only 4 boats + Ryan) so we felt like we weren’t rushed. Great time, highly recommend!

We have a reservation for 7:00 AM excursion June 2 and hoping surf is low, and winds are light. Our party has 4 folks over 65. What do you think? Also, one person in our party of 6 was interested in renting a dark suit to minimize sun exposure. Do you rent dark suits?
