My teenager took lessons from this company and did the very basic, how to stand up on the board etc. once out in the ocean I was watching my son literally just by himself.. no guide nothing. I asked my son how it was afterwards and he said the guy was not attentive at all. Even after he was done he never said anything to him.. he was nowhere to be found. Useless! This was a private one on one.. just a waste of time and money.

Christian was amazing with my 13 year old daughter on her first surf experience. He was patient and knowledgeable. She can't wait to come back and do it again!

Always wanted to surf and was on a solo trip in Maui. Finally got the courage to try at the ripe age of 38 and the experience probably changed my life. The teachers at ISA are very professional and give compact and precise instructions, nothing extra but everything you need to know when you start. I got along with them really well and they were fun to be around. I’m an athletic person and I’m used to listening to instructions carefully so I felt like I got the hang of it pretty fast and felt very safe the whole time. The waves were perfect for a beginner but still enough to practice the basic moves. It was pretty challenging to find the meeting spot at the Kaanapali Beach because there were so many other surf schools at the same time, but just look for the color of rashguards they tell you they are wearing and come early! The lesson took actually about 1h 15mins but to be fair, I was so sore the next day that it’s not a good idea to surf for hours when you’re not used to it just yet. The only down side of this experience is the price (90$) which is quite high. I’d like to have maybe another lesson before going alone because I’m not familiar with the waters in Maui, but I’m afraid I cannot afford it. :/ But everything in Maui is pricey, so I guess it is what it is. All in all, this is a good experience for anyone who wants to find out if surfing is for them. They provide all the equipment and tips, and as a solo traveller, it’s always safer to join groups first when you try something new. I’m afraid I have been bitten by the surf bug now, and there might be no turning back. Be careful guys ;) And stay loose!

We had a great time surfing on Ka'anapali Beach in Maui. Our instructor Christian was knowledgeable and encouraging. It was a little challenging to find the location to meet for the tour. As there were no signs or flags. After walking to the other end of the beach, we eventually found the correct location. Christian took the time to educate each of us on how to approach each wave. Always reminding us to paddle hard. We would recommend ISA Surf School to anyone who wants to try surfing without leaving Ka'anapali Beach.

We had a great morning semi private surf lesson with Island Surf. We are older adults and haven’t really surfed and thought it would be fun to give it a try. Tyler gave us a lot of attention and support and was very encouraging and patient. We had so much fun and would encourage anyone to sign up with his company!

The experience was great!! We were all beginners and never been on a board. Christian and Tyler made everything so easy. Highly recommend these guys if you are looking to learn to surf!!

The surf lesson was informative. It included foot positioning, paddling, and safety. We were able to stand up on the surfboard and rode several waves. Booked this trip from TripAdvisor site. It states this activity is good for ages 0 to 99. I booked it for myself my wife and our 8 year old. When we arrived the morning of the tour on June , told the guide that my son was not a strong swimmer and that I was a bad swimmer. The guide said that for safety reasons we should cancel. We would in the open ocean in 15ft of water with no life jackets. If my son or myself fell off he would have to jump in save us and that could be traumatic to all. I agreed, I called the company right there on the spot. The office in Hawaii agreed and said a full refund would be issued in 3 to 7 business days. It is now August 30th, 2023 and no refund has been issued. The company behind the tour Viator has not issued a refund and says that the only way to cancel and get a refund is to cancel 24 hours in advance. If the advertisement says good for ages 0 to 99, most babies aged 0 to 5 don't swim in the open ocean. This advertisement is false and the company doesn't care or respond.

We had a great expérience with the 2 ladies responsable for the excursion. We saw many dolphins, the snorkling near Lanaï was great and the turtles dive was also quite nice. I would recommend totally.

Our family of three booked a semi-private lesson to learn how to surf – we all enjoyed ourselves and had a great time, esp. our kid who did better than we did. : ) All of the instructors seemed really cool, and ours was Krish who was amazing, you could tell how experienced he was – patient, made things fun, and even knew when we were tired. My wife is wary of swimming in the ocean and he made her feel comfortable. Definitely recommend. Some tips: 1) if you do a late morning lesson like we did, you likely won't find parking; we ended up paying for valet at the Marriott Ocean Club ($20) as the beach access parking lots were full (there are two very small ones – like 10 cars each – that flank Marriott, use Google Maps terrain view to see), 2) there's no sign but they're in front of the Alii on the beach itself – we ended up calling them as we couldn't find them at first and were told to look for a yellow umbrella, you can also look for surfboards and storage boxes where the crew hangs out, 3) there's a photographer who uses an SLR w/ ranged lens to take pics, so don't worry about capturing the experience – we loved the shots she got and felt the cost for the different options was fair given the context,

My daughter Everly, age 7, had two private lessons with Carlos. She had so much fun and Carlos was a sweet and amazing instructor! 10/10 would recommend.

We had a great time and learned to surf! The instructors were very friendly and positive and had everyone in our party standing up and catching waves quickly. Would highly recommend them.

My 18 year old daughter and her friend really enjoyed their surf lesson! The instructors were very good and friendly and while the swell was pretty non-existent, they still managed to get everyone to catch a wave! Impressive! 😅 lots of fun, thanks again.

Great experience! My 18 year old had the best time surfing with his patient, encouraging excellent instructor. This was the second time he’s tried surfing and he was able to pop right up and ride lots of waves on beautiful Ka’anapali Beach
