Molokini Snorkeling Adventure Aboard the Calypso
From $109.95
Overview
Over 200 different species of fish inhabit Molokini Crater, and you'll have the chance to search for them all aboard this Maui snorkeling tour. Inside this ancient volcanic caldera that rises up out of the sea, you might also find manta rays, sea urchins, eels, or even a harmless shark. This tour also stops at a spot called Turtle Town along the Maui coastline, where you'll have the chance to swim alongside enormous Hawaiian Green sea turtles. Cruise up the coast in search of dolphins or Humpback whales in winter, all while enjoying a buffet lunch while relaxing out in the sun.
What to Expect
Join the crew aboard the Calypso, Maui's newest edition to the fleet.  Your snorkeling tour begins at the Maalaea harbor, where you'll board your boat for your excursion to Molokini Crater and Turtle Town. Start the day of right with eggs, ham, cinnamon rolls, donuts, coffee, fruit and juice.  A comfortable ride, ease of entry in and out of the water, a professional captain and crew, and the chance to learn about this slice of Hawaii are just a few of the reasons this tour makes for an ideal day out on the waters of Maui.

Located off the south shore of Kihei and rising out of 300 feet (91 meters) of water, the extinct volcanic cone of Molokini provides the opportunity to see native Hawaiian marine life like manta rays, fish, urchins, and sharks, who swim around the coral through the clear water year round. A marine preserve and bird sanctuary, Molokini is protected, so you can expect pristine conditions. Use the provided snorkeling equipment to explore the underwater world, and take advantage of the two water slides for more fun, especially to entertain kids. You can also take a peek at the reef without getting in the water via the glass-bottom viewing room.

To ensure safety, a lifeguard is in the water at all times watching over the snorkelers and lending any assistance, if needed.

After leaving Molokini, your second snorkeling spot of the day is Turtle Town, where you have the chance to swim with Hawaiian green sea turtles amid the calm water and coral. Then return to the boat for a barbecue lunch buffet of pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, pasta salad, and chocolate chip cookies.  Last but not least, enjoy a trivia game for the chance to win a crew T-shirt.

Some of the top amenities include:
Two slides, a "leap of faith", two freshwater showers, use of quality snorkeling gear, flotation devices, and restrooms are provided on the boat. If you want, you may rent a wetsuit or underwater digital camera at your own expense. SNUBA is also an option. The boat features an easy-to-use stairway in and out of the water, lots of shade, and plenty of Jimmy Buffet music, all to entertain you during your day in paradise.

Optional pay on-board "SNUBA".  Available for guests 8 years and up. Certain health restrictions apply.  SNUBA® allows gets to enjoy the simplicity of snorkeling and also the wonders of breathing underwater. SNUBA® is a unique patented shallow water diving system bridging the gap between snorkeling and scuba diving.

Was a little apprehensive about how this would all work out, but the crew is amazing, the boat is terrific, and we had a great time. Would definitely go back. The boat allows you to get sun, or to stay inside, and the water slide...More

This is a Well Run Operation

Some people are turned off by a large catamaran like this because it can hold a lot of people but we decided to choose Calypso anyway because they offered so many things that some of the others didn't and I am so glad we did!...More

Well run ship, very poor destination (Molokini)

One cannot deny the professionalism and smooth running of the Calypso's operation. BUT........ there was almost NO FISH at Molokini Island and about 1000 people. This is not a great place for first timers, or poor swimmers as it's deep and crowded and certainly poor snorkelling...More
