- P3181SBronb0 contributionsRedline again and again! This is our second time going whale watching with Redline and we will be back again. The boats are quick, clean and in excellent condition. The captain and naturalist are relaxed and professional. The overall experience is excellent! The boats are very fast and really not recommended for people with back issues as they can be a bout bumpy. Super fun! Don't hesitate. Good for families as well!Written March 14, 2025

- Greatbagel0 contributionsGreat TripExcellent Saftey and boat handling and pleasant crew. Knowledgeable and informative regarding whale behavior and life cycle events. We had excellent sightings and traveled most of our time with a calf and mom as well a few pairs of her escorts. Whale-worth the time and expense.Written March 10, 2025

- 327garyq0 contributionsMemories made with Redline.Although whale sightings are common in Maui in Feb, we decided to do a dedicated whale-watching tour to learn more and see more. Boy did we! Highly recommend Redline for many reasons. We opted for the 1.5 hr tour that departed at 9am from Kihei small boat ramp. Plus! Speed boat with about 14 others. Plus! Underwater microphone. Plus! Captain Kika and Mate Jake were wonderful. Plus! They informed us with facts and shared theirs experiences. Admittingly it started a bit slow due to the whales (not the crew) We would see activity in the distance and speed toward them but by the time we got there the whales had moved on. But then jackpot! We found a mother and calf hanging around at the surface. Then the escort male surfaced. They disappeared for an instance only to discover they (all 3) were UNDER our boat! Jake was able to get some underwater video with his phone and he graciously shared the video with the guests. Spectacular! Thank you guys and thank you Redline for an unforgettable experience!Written March 8, 2025
- Becky980 contributionsFun Trip Looking for WhalesFun Trip Looking for Whales- We had a great time looking for whales on a zodiac type raft. The raft ride is fun, but spotting whales is the icing on the cake! Our guides made the trip very interesting and was very informative. We saw a mother and baby and then saw some males fighting over a female. I especially enjoyed hearing the special microphone that is dropped into the water to hear the whale sounds.Written March 7, 2025

We loved how close you are to the water, as well as smaller group of people. We saw several humpback whales including some interacting with dolphins, also got to listen to them “singing”. Just as we were about to return, a whale breached, it was spectacular! Captain Dani and Ary were knowledgeable and personable. We loved our experience.Written March 4, 2025

If you love snorkeling, swimming, exploring and some adrenaline adventures Redline Rafting 5 hour trip to Molokini and around Maui is the way to go!
Just spent the morning out with the most awesome and friendly team of Tony and Ali, and we all had a great memorable adventure.
With the remnants of a hurricane earlier in the week, we easily switched our tour day to a day later in the week when it seemed winds would be more mild. And they were. It was a beautiful morning out, but bare in mind, even if it's calm inland once you get out towards the crater it will be breezy, wavy, and if anyone in your gang is prone to motion sickness, they are going to get sick early in the trip but once you move in from the crater, and they crank up the speed, with the wind, excitement and drenching of water of everyone on the boat, most of that seasickness will subside.
Also provided sodas and water, a light snack and sandwiches for lunch. Also good quality snorkeling gear and if you need wetsuits. The boat rides in between do get chilly in the wind and surf so may not be a bad idea for some to suit up.
Again amazing trip, and would highly recommend to anyone young and old down for an adventure, but again not for the faint hearted as the race across the waves is a high energy experience and the deep water around the crater may be a little much for some less confident sea swimmers.
Only downer is our daughter getting sick the day before so mom and daughter couldn't make the trip. They have a 48 hr cancellation rule which is understandable, but when asking to maybe get a discount on a future trip or so, the booking person said they cannot do such a thing. Maybe a little flexibility for such scenarios may help with customer relations and goodwill but other than that, the ones of us that got to go on the trip had a bunch of fun.
Thanks guys!

With the excellent shore snorkeling in Maui, we really debated whether a boat snorkel tour would be worth it~ and we are SO glad we chose the 5 hour Molokini + South Coast adventure tour with Redline Rafting. We reached Molokini well before the other tours and had it mostly to ourselves, and were able to get in for the back wall as well, which was very special. We made great time in the water, and got a bonus snorkel site in (for a total of 5!). Turtle “mansion” was absolutely fantastic with lots of chill turtles and plenty of time in the water. Captain Chase handled the choppy waters that popped up toward the end of the journey like an absolute pro, and Nick took care of all our needs on board. We appreciated the educational info and relaxed style of the crew! The light breakfast and lunch were perfect. Mahalo Redline!

I just cannot say enough good things about Redline Rafting, Captain K and his Excellent Crew! We saw amazingly beautiful fish and coral when snorkeling Molokini Crater, had a blast bumping across the open water while the Captain blared his rockin’ playlist, and spent the last part of the tour spying sea turtles in a cove. We took the early morning tour, which allowed us to see the sunrise and get to the snorkeling spots before they were overwhelmed with other boats. Redline’s crew was so responsive and caring, particularly to the folks who were sea sick. Airie (forgive me if I've misspelled the name) was incredibly kind to our group, which included folks who had never jumped off a boat into choppy waters before, or needed a hand climbing back aboard. Warning: if you don’t enjoy bouncing, this ride ain’t for you. If you love being immersed in the sea spray, the sun, Maui’s shockingly blue water and seeing the magical sea creatures (at a respectful distance) this is the boat to be on. Thank you Redline Rafting!

Our experience with Redline Rafting was absolutely incredible! We went on their snorkeling trip to Molokini Crater in late January, and it exceeded all of our expectations. On the way out, we were lucky enough to see whales, which was such an amazing bonus. The snorkeling itself was unforgettable—we visited four different spots, each offering something unique.
At Molokini Crater, the water was crystal clear, and we saw so many beautiful fish. One of the highlights for me was spotting an octopus, which was such a rare and exciting treat! The crew was fantastic—knowledgeable, fun, and so attentive to everyone’s needs. They made the entire trip feel safe and enjoyable, even for those who were newer to snorkeling.
This is a must-do activity in Maui. Between the stunning marine life, the adventure of being out on the water, and the chance to see whales up close, it was hands down one of the best parts of our trip. Highly recommend Redline Rafting to anyone looking for a memorable snorkeling adventure!

This tour exceeded all my expectations!! Ally and Kaika were absolutely the best Captain and guide you could have wished for. Kaika explained a brief history of each surrounding island as well as detailed stories tailored for each location we visited to snorkel. Ally literally floated with my sister and myself explaing each fish we would point out and ensured we felt safe to explore the ocean. She was so funny, knowledgeable, and kind. They both had wonderful jokes, the music was great, and a catamaran tour could never offer the intimate yet adventure filled experience we had on the raft. Thank you both more making this 40th birthday trip one for the books!!

This was a truly adventurous outing on a fast and maneuverable boat. Captain Dani and crewmember Ari did a great job making sure everyone was safe and having a good time on our half-day on the water. Dani, who grew up in Kihei, was a master at handling the big inflatable watercraft in rough seas as we navigated our way to wild La Perouse Bay. She used good judgment with the weather, rearranging our itinerary accordingly. Helpful Ari made sure we all got back up the ladder safely and were well fed and cared for. The back-of-Molokini visit to "the Elevator" was unique among snorkeling experiences for me! Crazy good fun.

This was the last excursion we did while on our honeymoon and it was so fun to end on! We have been to Maui a few times and I truly think this is one of the best Molokini Crater trips! The reason I say that is a few things.
While it is an early start, you are one of the first boats out there which makes a difference. The crater can get overrun with boats and tourists and it is nice to get in and out before it gets too crowded. Also the sea state tends to be calmer in the morning which is a bonus if you are not the most comfortable in the water or the best swimmer. Redline does offer belts that help with buoyancy too which is great.
The people either make your experience or break it and we had Zach and Niko (sorry if I spell these wrong) and they were so knowledgable about the island and the sea life and excited to share it with us! Thank you Zach for all your great dad jokes too-that was definitely a plus!
The boats they have are smaller so you have a smaller group of people to worry about bumping into in the water and you get to have a lot of fun while jetting off one place to the next.
Some of the things we say on this tour were tons of different species of fish, moray eels, octopus, manta ray, and lots of turtles. Depending on the time of year you go, there are so many different pelagic life you can see, but it is worth it no matter what.
From check in to drop off the experience was fantastic and we would 100% go out with them again! If you are looking for a shorter day experience, they also have other boats that do different tours that I would recommend looking into.

We spent 3 hours with Redline Rafting snorkeling at Molokini and along the coast and watching the whales. Our pilot, Dani, was extremely knowledgeable and great company and Nick was a terrific guide in and out of the water. We visited 3 great snorkeling spots, in the clear waters of the crater, in the “Elevator” on the back side (a wicked experience) and visiting the turtles near the shore. We saw multiple whale pods, including competition pods with several breaches and tail slapping. It was amazing. The team was professional, on time and great in all respects. A definite highlight that we unreservedly recommend.

Our family of 5 had the most amazing day on this trip, we started with snorkelling along the Molokini Crater & then the back wall where the visibility was incredible, we saw so much life there.
We were in wonderful hands for the whole trip, Tony the captain of the boat, gave us a thrilling ride across the waves in the Zodiac & we loved it, he also shared a great knowledge of each area & the history of its formation which added so much to the trip, combined with his witty one liners which had us laughing all day - he was an absolute star.
Kelly was there at every stage to take care of us, her diving knowledge was fabulous & she was so attentive to make sure guest’s equipment & water technique ensured they got the best out of the day - she somehow also managed to feed us breakfast and lunch!
Our trip finished with the most incredible swim with green turtles, rightly protected here in Hawaii we were given clear instructions to ensure they weren’t in anyway intruded upon by our presence. Swimming & observing them in their own environment was really beautiful , it was such a special experience in a stunning location.
If you only do one trip in Maui I would certainly recommend this one - it was such a highlight of our travels around the Islands. Thank you Tony & Kelly.

worked for a major cruise line in Hawaii. I was a Shore Excursion Specialist. Over the years I worked
there, I’ve been on at least 20+ snorkeling trips in Maui. Today I found my new favorite: Redline Rafting.
Not only are their boats smaller (24 passengers) they are more nimble and a lot more fun. We went to
Molokini, I know, right? But have you ever been to the back face?! It was a blue water spectacular. Then
south into the channel, it was better than any flume waterpark ride. We went to Turtle Town, which did
not disappoint, and then a bonus Whale Watching ride as we spotted a breeding pod. The big guys can’t
be as attentive and responsive as Capt Tony and Josh were for our group. So the next time you decide
to take a Molokini Crater to snorkel tour, check out Redline Rafting, tell them Jerry sent you.

Do you have to be a strong swimmer to join this tour? is this tour okay for beginners? I like that they go to 4 different locations. Out of 4 locations, which has the roughest wave?
We're 2 adults and 1 teen, can swim but never snorkel. Plan to learn snorkeling before the trip.

I’m 72 and I went. I’m comfortable in the water, a good swimmer but nit strong. Way easier to snorkel from
This boat than battle the waves and handle your gear from the beach.

I see the itinerary shows #2 as the starting point. So the raft boat will not go to Turtle town directly Molokini?
Written March 24, 2022
The itinerary on TripAdvisor isn't the correct one. you can see details on the provider's website. Go to redlinerafting website & select "five-hour-molokini-and-south-maui-snorkel". You can see stops either in the "details" sections or the map that shows stops with photos.
Here is what the details section says -
(1) Be one of the first boats in the morning to snorkel Molokini Crater where visibility often exceeds 180ft.
(2) Snorkel the back wall of Molokini, a place very few visitors ever get to see.
(3) Stop at La Perouse Bay to search for the Hawaiian spinner dolphins that call the bay home.
(4) We conclude our tour with an up close and personal encounter in the water with the protected Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle.
So to answer your question, Turtle town is the last stop. I did this tour in March 2022 & can attest that the website description is accurate. Have fun!! This operator is one of the best on the island.

Hi, what is the fee for a five year old child to go with us? Is he even able to come with us? And if our 9 year old wants to go but not snorkel is it still $204? Thank you!
Written December 30, 2021
I think there might be reduced rate for 5 year old. There are fast rafts and there are also bigger boats, so you may have to see what might be best for your family. There is red raft , and blue raft, and few big boats.

Are their life jackets available for snorkeling?
Is their a guide in the water ?
How is the mouthpiece sanitized between used?

They had flotation belts. I used one and found it very helpful. The guides were not in the water with us. Perhaps one of them could go in with you. They were very "watchful" of our group and helpful getting in and out of boat.

Hi! We are planning our family trip to Hawaii during March this year. We are wondering about whether whale watching is included in this tour? Thank you!
Written January 25, 2020
The tour that we took was for snorkeling only because we are watching season did not start until January 15. However on our way out to the snorkeling adventure, we spotted a couple Wales. But this was actually not the whale watching trip, they do have a whale watching trip which was approximately the same cost.

I agree with Nate above. I would call some dive shops directly on the island(s) you plan to visit. I'm sure that some accommodations could be made for your husband. I found some good info when I googled "paraplegic snorkeling on Maui ". TA won't allow me to attach links.
