- 312lynnn0 contributionsSee Kauai in the best possible way!We took the 45 minute tour out of Princeville. Very professionally organized. We felt absolutely safe with this tour company. The pilot was so knowledgeable and engaging and explained so many details of the topography and history of the island. We saw amazing views - many of which you can’t drive to and are only accessible by boat or air. It is an expensive experience but once in a lifetime and worth it! Spectacular.Written March 25, 2024
- 415kend0 contributionsAwesome flight! We flew with pilot Benson. He was great at telling you what he was doing and when to expect “bumps” when going over a ridge. The views were stunning of the canyon, waterfalls, and the coast. The helicopter was comfortable and the AC worked great. Thrilling flight!Written January 20, 2024
- Fearless041593529300 contributionsWaimea Canyon/Na Pali CoastWe took a great ride today with Barrett. We left from Lihue, flew up to Waimea Canyon through the mountains and volcanic area. We got to see many waterfalls and great coastal views. He even took us past his boyhood ranch. Incredible time had by Judy and me. We took an abundance of photos and videos. Blue Hawaiian even made a video with the 5 cameras. Couldn’t have been better!!!Written November 4, 2023
- lamontravel0 contributionsBest Helicopter Ride on Kauai!!We were referred to Blue Hawaiian by friends of ours who went on a tour with them last year in Kauai. We had Robert as our pilot, and he was great. He was easy-going, informative and an excellent pilot. The ride was so smooth and the views were amazing! The instructions before the tour were focused on safety, and we felt completely safe during the whole flight. We would fly with them again, and highly recommend Blue Hawaiian for a helicopter ride over Kauai!!Written October 5, 2023
- 478cinthiab0 contributionsWow! Go!!Well organized. Whole experience was top notch. This was my 3rd helicopter ride and I am always amazed. (different places of course) The canyon can not be accessed where we went and it is definitely worth it. We purchased the video also. Our pilot did 360 slow turns so everyone was able to get fantastic pictures..(sunshine being a factor with glare)Written September 25, 2023
- Nursejr170550 contributionsWell worth the expenseWhat a great way to see the island. We had Barrett as our pilot and he gave us tons of information and showed us the views only available by flight. As most of the island is privately owned, this was definitely the way to go. Well worth the trip!Written March 22, 2023
- 539heidiv0 contributionsBreathtakingPilot Chelsea is excellent. We were both very nervous, but we’re set at ease quickly. Very smooth with a breathtaking view of the Kauai Island. These two chickens were ready to get right back on and do it againWritten February 3, 2023
- martinwU6198EJ0 contributionsIncomparable!Take the longer tour with the landing at Jurassic falls. Although the falls are impressive, landing in the forest and skimming the treetops on the way out before dropping into Waimea Canyon is more unique. The trip offers the usual views of the Na'pali coastline, but adds an extensive overflight of the rainforest with impressive waterfall views. Worth budgeting and saving your pennies. Maui and Hawaii helicopter rides are not worth it (unless the volcano is erupting).Written January 23, 2023
- ellenofthelake0 contributionsVery professional companyEvery aspect was professionally done. The helicopter ride was amazing. It was over too quickly! I didn’t want it to end. We had beautiful weather. I get seasick rather badly and this didn’t bother me at all I forgot to take Bonine, so I was apprehensive about that. It’s pricey, but worth it. It’s quite hard to get photos without a reflection. But I don’t have what it takes to fly without doors ona helicopter.Written January 17, 2023
- arithecat0 contributionsWonderful time in the skyFirst time doing a helicopter tour and we loved it. We wanted to see the Napali coast and there were no boats going out there due to winds and rough waters. So we did Blue Hawaiian. It was wonderful! I would not hesitate to use them again. The tour guide was great and answered any questions the 6 of us had. People do need to remember that these tours go by weight. Would highly recommend!Written January 17, 2023

- angelajohnsonSD0 contributionsBreathtaking adventureWow! We were blown away by our helicopter experience with Blue Hawaiian! We got this as a wedding present and I was honestly scared to do it at first (heights). Our pilot ( Alihue-sorry i might have spelled that wrong!) was so amazing and confident and made it so fun. He put on some great music and flew us through the most stunning scenery in Kauai. We saw the weeping wall-so beautiful (which is almost impossible to get to by foot) and so many other falls. This is a must do while in Kauai!Written November 7, 2022
- Kevin-LisaMc0 contributionsAwesome!Nothing much to add- it was a great experience all around! Easy to book, friendly staff and Alio was a great pilot. I guess my only suggestion would be to move away from the USB trip video/photos and upload them to the cloud instead.Written October 25, 2022

I only had 1 full day on the island of Kauai. As I was pressed for time, I thought the best way to see the island would be by helicopter.
I was not disappointed. US $289 very well spent
The views of the waterfalls ( Jurassic park) were fantastic. You also fly over the Olokele canyon and the most inspiring Waimea canyon which is described as the “Grand Canyon of the pacific). You fly over the Na Pali coast as well as other areas of significance.
Our pilot Barrett is a highly skilled pilot and the commentary is most informative. The ground crew and reception staff are fantastic and all are very proud of their product, and rightly so. They are filled with that Aloha spirit.
The flight time is about 50 minutes as advertised.
You do need to check in 45 minutes before you scheduled flight. This is to allow for all passengers to be weighed as distributing the weight is very important. There is also a mandatory safety briefing.
Points to note:
*You may not get to specify where you want to sit, due to weight distribution. But don’t worry, every seat has a great view.
*Go to the toilet before you depart, there is no toilet on board
* The departure lounge is comfortable and they provide complimentary tea, coffee and water.
*General flight is really smooth, but it does get bumpy (very short periods) when you cross over ridges.
*Most importantly, sit back, relax and enjoy.

This is a "must do" experience when you are visiting the Island of Kauai, as there is no better way to experience the beauty and majesty of the incredible Napali Coast. This was my second trip on the helicopter, and the pilots are always very experienced and professional.
The winds in the canyons were up to 50 miles an hour the day of my trip, so we did experience some pretty turbulent air during the 50 minute trip to the coast. Blue Hawaiian is very serious about COVID-19 safety, and because of the disinfection of the headphones and microphones between passengers, the headphones were not working for the three family members seated behind me, and they were unable to hear the wonderful narration provided by the pilot during the journey. Although it was my second helicopter ride with this company, I was more than a bit disappointed, as I was traveling alone and paid an extra $100.00 to be seated in the front of the helicopter next to the pilot. Because there were three family members traveling together and seated behind me, I would have received the exact same seat had I not agreed to pay the additional $100. 00 to be the "co-pilot". The office agent refused to refund the additional money when I questioned why I needed to pay the extra $100.00.

Touring Kauai on a Blue Hawaii Helicopter was absolutely tremendous. Our pilot Tim was very good and made us feel safe even over the bumpy parts. It was raining off and on but I think that it made things even more spectacular. We purchased the video and it was well worth the price.
Here's the very disappointing part. There were several helicopter tours due to leave about the same time. They have to weigh everyone in order to place them in the right seat to balance the passenger load. We didn't have a problem but after watching the safety video they announced the seating for each helicopter. One married couple was told that they had to be on separate helicopter to accommodate that balance. Of course that upset the couple and the Blue Hawaiian tour employee rudely acted like "too bad but that's the way it is". I don't know what they eventually did but I wouldn't have continued without enjoying the tour with my wife.

The scenery was beautiful, however Chelsea the pilot was not dynamic. She was very blah. When it came to the Jurassic Park falls she played the theme song and then said Jurassic Park yeah. This is an expensive trip and was looking forward to seeing the falls and she made it not very interesting. She was very mono tone. A helicopter left before us and arrived after us. If you do not want to pay to be upgraded to the front seats then I would suggest to sit on the right side of the aircraft. Perhaps a more enthusiastic pilot would have given this tour a better rating .
I did love the sites that we saw. We had done a boat tour a couple of days prior to this tour and the captain of that tour gave a far more superior explanation of the Doreen that we saw.

The beauty and awe of this helicopter tour of Kauai transcends words. It literally is a moving experience that brought some people in the helicopter to tears. It is almost indescribable, but if I had to, I would tell you that the combination of the ultimate rain forest, grand canyon of the tropics, massive waterfalls, sheer vertical drops along with the exhileration of an exciting helicopter ride made our vacation perfect. Six of us went and six of us got off that helicopter with something new in our souls that will forever be charished. Thanks to the whole team and especially Greg our pilot for a spectacular experience.

We were heading to Lihue from Hanalei and hit a lot of traffic due to road work. When we checked the GPS we were leaving in plenty of time to arrive for our 2:30 check-in time (for a 3:30 flight), but with the construction obstruction we were running about 15 minutes late so would arrive at 2:45, we figured we're good getting there 45 minutes ahead of time. We got a call from the grumpiest person at about 2:40 who said we're late and they will see if they can hold the flight. I told her our story, and she said you're supposed to be here at 2:30. I said, "Well, we'll be there at 2:45." Not another word from her, she just slammed the phone down. I had just told her we were 3 miles away, so would get there really quickly. Once we arrived, I asked a younger worker if she was the one I had spoken to, she said no, it was an older woman who was outside. She said she was having a bad day. I didn't cause that bad day, so not sure why she took it out on me. The kicker was we had to wait about 5 minutes for some guy in the restroom before we could start our safety video. The pre-flight stuff took 10 minutes (max). I'm not sure why she was losing it b/c we were going to be 15 minutes late. We had plenty of time. We were finished with all the pre-flight stuff by 3:00.
The ground crew outside basically barks at everyone. No one in the ground crew seems to have learned the words please or thank you. Just 'stand there!', 'Don't move!' 'Come!' I had paid extra for a front seat, and they loaded the plane and put me in the back. I asked why I wasn't getting the seat I paid for, and they had to go check and see if I was telling the truth. I had signed up for the front seat when I booked. Not too hard.
Once the flight started, our pilot, Mark, was very informative and friendly. wouldn't use this company again unless they figure out how to have some aloha spirit. We spent $1,700 for 4 seats on the helicopter and got treated like garbage by the ground crew. Sorry, that's no way to earn repeat business.

Trip date: 7/12/22. Our pilot was Barrett, a native of Kauai who has worked as a pilot on Jurassic World and Jungle Cruise. Great sense of humor and very friendly. The ground crew was great too. We paid extra for the front seats with extra leg room for my 6’8” 16 year old but they probably would have been fine in the rear. Front seats are the only guaranteed seats for extra $100. The pilot chooses seating arrangements to balance aircraft in back row.
We were worried about getting canceled as it was raining in Waipouli where we were staying but we needn’t have worried. Views of the island were spectacular and Barret did a great job narrating the tour. Warned us when things were gonna get a little choppy and made sure both sides of helicopter got views of all the sights. Used our names to help point out which side of aircraft was facing a particular feature. Got great views of Na’pali coast (one passenger asked if it was called that because it looked like Nepal - pilot didn’t snigger), Waimea Canyon, taro plantations, waterfalls throughout island, etc.
This was a highlight of our trip.

Great experience on a great day. Chelsea was very good pilot and also and excellent narrator. Though she is not a native of Kauai, she showed her love of the island by being knowledgeable and providing excellent narration. The icing on the “cake” was that the weather was excellent, with no wind to cause discomfort or clouds to obstruct our view. Although it was quite expensive, the video with the narration will be a valued treasure.

Absolutely the best way to see the island because too many beautiful places (waterfalls, beaches, caverns, lava tubes, landscapes, crater) are simply not accessible by land. This is a 55 minute flight that seemed to last longer. Great visibility from any of the 6 seats. If you want to be in the 2 front seats (less camera lens reflection), pay extra. The helicopter ride is smooth and comfortable; pilots are experienced and informative. You can pop a couple dramamine an hour beforehand if you're still a bit quezzy. They video your flight which you can get for $85. A very memorable experience.

My first helicopter ride and everything I was hoping for! The freedom to go into canyons and over mountains is exhilarating. Our pilot Keith new every waterfall and how they were changing that day and week. Covers the entire island with all its different aspects. I don’t know to express what it’s like to fly into the central extinct volcano with vertical yet green walls 3,000’ high, mists above and waterfalls streaming…transcendent? Be aware there are 6 seats, 2 in front with the pilot, 4 in the back. Without question the best seat is front right window. You can pay extra $100 to guarantee front row and I’d say worth it. Also the right side seats are favored 80% of the ride because it’s basically clockwise tour. If you weigh 250+ you will pay a bit extra and take up two spots. They will literally weigh you on site it’s part of flight planning. Window seats can take excellent photos and videos through the windows with iPhone or real camera. They also take a continuous HD stabilized video of the whole flight with an external camera including audio from the pilot and passengers which they will sell to you after for $60. I was happy with my own shots. My wife doesn’t like to fly and gets seasick but had no motion sickness problems and said although she was anxious it was well worth it! We had about 20 seconds of turbulence at one point early and I was worried but it ended and the rest of the ride was very smooth. I was worried they might cancel for weather, we had 15-25 winds and scattered rain (which is like every day in Kauai…) and it wasn’t a problem. We briefly went through a rain shower which was amazing! Mostly sunny. Amazing smooth landing. I highly recommend doing it once and paying for best seats!

No guarentee of window seat unless you pay a premium and on top of that they refuse cancellation or change of schedule despite the bad weather. When I was forced to go because they will forfeit my money I waited there and the last minute they canceled on me due to bad weather wasting my precious vacation time of 4 hrs getting there early and waiting and driving back !

I don't think there is a weight limit as the helicopter can take 6 passengers. They weigh each person and then place the people in a way that spreads the weight evenly throughout the helicopter.

I understand the flight time is 50 min but about how long is the overall experience from parking to leaving?
Written March 8, 2021
It was about an hour. The helicopters take off right not to the parking lot. There is a short safety briefing before you take off.
Written March 10, 2021
50 minutes, sometimes 1 hour for an amazing e tour all around the island and the major attractions.
Do not miss this helicopter experience, they leave from Lihue heliport.

We will be there April 2020. How far in advance should we book?
Written October 15, 2019
They run lots of flights, so you should be able to get on one if you book a couple of months out. We flew on July 4th, so we booked 4 months early because of the holiday. Go in the morning as clouds set in by midday and significantly obstruct your view. Have fun!
