Overview
Embark on a Garden Isle adventure with a half-day kayak trip on Kauai’s legendary Wailua River. Paddle through lush tropical landscape with a guide, passing a traditional Hawaiian village and learning about the river’s ancient, sacred history along the way. Feel like an island explorer as you hike to a sparkling waterfall, and keep your energy up with a riverside picnic lunch.
What to Expect
Get an early start to make the most of the fresh tropical morning, and meet your guide at the launch point near the Wailua River, Kauai’s only navigable waterway. Get outfitted with a provided kayak, paddle, and life vest, and store your belongings in a dry bag before setting off on the gentle currents.
Soak up the verdant jungle scenery and views of volcanic peaks in the distance on a 2-mile (3.2-km) paddle upriver towards the north fork. Feel transported back in time as you pass by the traditional huts of Kamokila Village and hear tales of the native Hawaiian people who once lived around and traveled the river more than 1,500 years ago.
Take a break from paddling to explore the rain forest by foot on a moderate hike to the Ulewehi Waterfall, where you’ll be rewarded with views of the majestic falls cascading 120 feet (36 meters) down a mountain cliff. Recharge with a riverside picnic lunch of fresh and healthy island fare including vegetarian options before hopping back in your kayak for the return trip to the starting point.

Best day of our trip!

I had been looking around for different hiking/kayaking tours to do and stumbled this one and saw it included lunch which was a nice perk. We showed up and checked in - you get two waters, a couple snacks, a delicious sandwich and our guide...More

Great Tour Guide

Ms. Lisa Mahalo is great tour guide who knew how to assist parents with young children and seniors. She makes the tough trip to a fun and pleasant hike. Thanks.

Great Adventure!

Matt was our guide and he was excellent. The weather was perfect. The journey just to get to the waterfall was our favorite part! Will highly recommend this tour to friends and family, and hopefully do it again ourselves in the future!

Easy kayaking, and the falls were amazing!

Our guide, Thomas, was a gem. Good sense of humor as well as knowledgeable about the island and kayaking. The kayak was low to the water and stable. We were with a group of 11 customers and our guide, on the 7:45 departure. The hike...More
