      Shipped pineapple
I’ve ordered sugarloaf pineapple every year for the last 10 years from various vendors in Hawaii depending on availability. . This is the first time I’ve ever had trouble. All 3 pineapples I ordered were damaged. I emailed multiple times about my order being delayed without a response. When my order finally arrived two weeks later (there was no option for different shipping preferences or I’d have picked 3 day… it’s what we’ve had with every other vendor we’ve placed orders with). I emailed again notifying that my pineapples were damaged. They said they would refund my money but a week later still no response. It took threatening a chargeback to get a refund but then only refunded the charge for 1 pineapple. My advice would be to only use this vendor for 3 day shipping if offered and be persistent if you have problems. I’m out $80 and still don’t have pineapples for my husbands birthday 🤷🏼‍♀️

      A must see!
amazing! In just three years Mike and Jackie have transformed their 11 acres from an overgrown “mess”of a Plantation Farm to a beautiful fully functioning organic farm with lilikoi trellises, a variety of fruit trees, pineapples, vegetables, grapes, avocados, sheep, chicken, goats … all without commercial fertilizers or pesticides. The two hours flew by and at the end of the tour we were treated to fresh lilikoi, honey from the farm, a couple of lilikoi baked treats and lilikoi hot sauce along with lilikoi juice and iced mamaki tea. Highly recommend this tour!

      amazing experience!
I worked on this beautiful farm through WWOOF in October of 2019 and I had an unforgettable experience that I miss and think about everyday. We mostly planted new crops and maintained existing ones, and took care of the animals too! I learned so much about organic farming from Mike and Jackie, who were very generous with their knowledge and showing us awesome local spots! This was very out of my comfort zone and I had an amazing time, I would recommend this to anyone!

A charming peaceful solace off the beaten path
I was a WWOOF volunteer at Nakihalani Farm and it was such a wonderful experience. I learned a lot about what it takes to keep a farm like this going, a lot about Hawaii and a lot about myself. The farm land is beautiful, the fruit plentiful, fresh, delicious. Mike and Jackie were gracious hosts and would recommend anyone to pay a visit to the farm! The tour of the farm are a great “off the beaten path” activity to do in this area of the Big Island. And the “cottage” is an excellent peaceful rental spot to explore the Hamakua coast.

      Fun, Informative and Delicious!
Mike and Jackie of Nakihalani Farm offer such a wonderful and comprehensive farm tour that covers so much interesting information and offers delicious lilikoi treats at the end! The tour brings you through so many beautiful growing operations that you can tell have been planted with such care -including lilikoi trellises, which is what the farm is best known for. Mike is personable, warm and informative and you can tell he loves what he does. It was so much fun to see all of the different plants and farming practices implemented on Nakihalani, and to greet some of the friendly and adorable farm animals. Jackie’s sampler of lilikoi treats at the end of the tour is the perfect sweet and delicious way to end the tour. Don’t hesitate… book this tour! You won’t be disappointed!!

The host here is very strange. I would not recommend coming here ! Plenty of other nice places to go around the island and nicer people.

      An experience I won’t forget!
Nakihalani Farm is truly one of the most beautiful, peaceful places I have ever been. Mike and Jackie have created an idyllic 11-acre retreat that’s thoughtfully and creatively laid out—almost everywhere you turn there’s something exciting to see, be it a panoramic ocean view, vines heavy with golden lilikoi, grazing goats, or the almost ever-present double rainbow. I learned so much during my time at there—from techniques for caring for the farm’s abundant fruit, vegetable, and herb plants to animal care to a variety of food and drink recipes using what’s growing right outside. Nakihalani felt like a second home and I can’t wait to go back.

Something Real in a Made Up World
We have been to Hilo many times, and really don't have any interest in the "usual" tourist spots. That's why we enjoyed the Farm so much. Just a slice of ag life in a rural part of the Big Island. Mike is using different farming techniques to grow several experimental crops on this historic land, with a unique, communal approach to staffing. And Jackie makes all sorts of delicious edibles out of the produce they grow. It's not fancy, no frills, no artificial attractions, just interesting and REAL. Make sure to take the old road detour on the way out for a real slice of Hawaii's history.

Delicious and charming big island experience
We were visiting big island with my parents and were lucky enough to discover this charming sustainable farm. We LOVE lilikoi (passion fruit) and booked a tour of the farm. Our hosts, Mike and Jackie were delightful. We toured the farm and learned about many of the wonderful things they grow and cultivate sustainably and then they had prepared numerous and delicious things for us to try that they create from their farm. Including mamaki tea- this is fabulous. My mom and I have continued to buy and brew it and keep pitchers of iced tea on hand. It’s delicious and contains many elements that are wonderful for your health. We also had lilikoi bars, ice cream, crackers with lilikoi hot sauce, lilikoi syrup and several other delectable treats. The farm is located in a beautiful and charming part of the island called Laupahoehoe- we all loved our experience and it was a fun and different island activity that was very “local”. We recommend highly.

      best farm in hawaii
Nakihalani Farm has a little of everything. There are many friendly animals, like goats, sheep, and cows who often have their babies following them in a tiny herd. Mike's innovative use of the land to grow many traditional staples in addition to more adventurous crops is incredible to see while on a farm walk. And you can always see the ocean from the property. Nakihalani showcases everything a good organic farm should be: inviting, wholesome, and inspiring.

Our trip to Nakihalani farm was unforgettable! We wanted to experience a true Hamakua Coast farm that grows a variety of delicious fruits and vegetables. Farmer Mike detailed the layout of his land to give us a feel for how Nakihalani thrives as an organic farm. The lilikoi food tasting curated by wife Jackie was heavenly - each item was better than the next! We purchased lilikoi syrup and mamaki tea as a delicious and unique souvenir. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!
