Jodi was our tour guide and she was exceptional! We all learned so much, experienced so many views of the waterfalls, black sand beach, lava tubes and an amazing lunch at the Volcano park! She took so many pictures that are memorable!

We had a group of 8 that one of our members put together based on Jodi’s suggestion of how to get others on the tour. Totally worth the cost we paid. I highly recommend Jodi and her company.

Very happy that we booked this tour! Skylar picked our group of 10 up on time and was well-prepared with rain gear, flashlights, water, and snacks. He took photos throughout the day for our group so we could just ralax and take in the sights. We had a tour around Hilo and saw some of the well-known landmarks, parks, and waterfalls before driving up to Volcanoes National Park. Everything was well-organized and very informative. Getting a first hand account of the history and culture of the area, information about native plants and animals, and of course about volcanoes made our trip so memorable. Robin really made the difference when it came to exploring and experiencing what the Big Island has to offer. Robin was so knowledgeable and funny. His schedules were excellent and kept us on track. The more you move the more you see. He will cater this experience to meet your needs. The van was so clean and comfortable, we traveled in style! This is a must do!

What a great tour! Rob took us all over the Volcano National Park and shared his love of the area and vast experience. We learned about the different types of lava (who knew there is more than 1 type) and got a feel for what it is like when the lava is flowing. He took tons of pictures for us so we could focus on having fun. If you are on the big island, book this tour!

our family of 5 - ages 70-18 - did this excursion and it was an excellent way to see Volcano National Park. Skylar picked us up at the cruise ship building, and we were off to see a couple landmarks in Hilo then up the mountain to visit Volcano National Park. Best part was that we had the entire van to ourselves - no awkward conversations with people we didn't know, and we got to decide what parts of the excursion to lengthen or shorten. Skylar was an excellent guide: informative and easy to talk to.

Dash was our tour guide from Big Island VIP! He was amazing and so knowledgeable. He was also very high energy, took great pictures for us, and we loved hearing stories and experiences. The van was comfortable for our family of 6 and he also provided us with water and snacks. Overall, a an amazing experience. We would recommend a tour with Big Island VIP!

Our tour guide was Rob. He was very nice and friendly. He was also very patient with us. We have an elderly mother with mobility issues and he never rushed us. He just wanted to make sure my whole family was happy and enjoying ourselves. The vehicle was very nice and cold. We were happy he was able to pick us up at the port since we arrived on a cruise ship. Best tour on our cruise of the Hawaiian islands.

We had an amazing time touring Volcano National Park with Rob. Splurging on this VIP experience was well worth it for our group of 8. Rob was full of information at every stop. Many times we even noticed visitors (not part of our tour) stopping to listen. Rob was incredibly patient, while making sure we kept a good pace ensuring we got to see as much as time would allow. This tour was absolutely PERFECT and I can’t think of a single thing that would have made it better. My family had been planning our trip to Hawaii for nearly a year… we were aboard the Pride of America Cruise Ship in celebration of my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. There were six of us, ranging in ages from 14 to 71. Some of us had already done a similar tour many years ago, but some had never been before. The last time some of us visited was 2018 so it was a lot different and not many areas were accessible. As for this tour… I can say enough positive things and even this review won’t do it justice. To start, Jodi was amazing with communicating ahead of time and she even sent info on things to do while in Kona (our next cruise stop) which was fantastic because we had left that day open. Even though my dad had been to Kona a few times before, he was able to find something of interest from the list Jodi sent that he wouldn’t have known about otherwise. This is the kind of thing that really makes a company shine.. when they go above and beyond. My dad kept raving about how much he appreciated all the info (him and I are detail-oriented people haha). On the day of the tour Skylar picked us up right from the cruise port, he was inside waiting with a sign for us. We piled into the very comfortable van and Skylar took us to some area highlights before heading to Volcanoes National Park. In the planning stages of our trip my dad had communicated that he would prefer skipping one stop in order to have more time at the top. They were fabulous with allowing us to “customize” in this sense, although in the end I’m sure we still would have had enough time at VNP. We never felt rushed. Skylar was absolutely amazing.. full of so much knowledge and was able to answer all the questions posed by our family. I highly recommend this tour. At first the cost might seem scary, but I did my homework and you really can’t do better. If we had booked through the cruise ship it would have cost us much more for all members of our family and they offer NO flexibility, not to mention they typically just drive you to the various stops and let you get out and explore on your own. With this tour, Skylar was with us every step of the way… and he took so many photos that we have memories for a lifetime. Skylar was wonderful, making sure we were all comfortable in the van and getting in & out. This tour was appropriate for all ages and even kept our teenager engaged and interested! Heck, he even got photos with her smiling (those with teens will get it) Thanks Jodi and Skylar for the fantastic tour.

Despite the bad weather we had a great day on the tour. Skylar was excellent, he took loads of pictures, even leaving us in the van whilst he got soaking wet to get us some photos. He has a great knowledge of the park and made the day really interesting. The weather stopped us seeing the best of the volcano itself but we were still in awe of the larva tubes and the larva field towards the sea. The van was very comfortable and we were given plenty of drinks and snacks. Thoroughly recommend this trip , just prey for good visibility at the top.

I am not even sure how to make this sound as spectacular as it was! First if all Rob is an amazing guide. He is knowledgeable of the area, the terrain, the history, and the geology, so precisely, you feel like you can ask him anything! He was professional, attentive, and willing to work with our schedule. We visited waterfalls and volcanoes, took amazing pictures, watched videos to prepare for what we would see, and went to two incredible restaurants! Plus, we are a family of 6 and Rob addressed each of us like he had known us his entire life! He’s our family now! This is a MUST tour if you visit!

I searched for a while for tours departing from Kona to Volcanoes National Park and kept coming back to Big Island VIP. After emailing with Jodi and having our questions answered, we booked with them. Zero regrets. Rob, our guide was punctual, friendly and totally knowledgeable about all aspects of the island and the volcanoes. He took us to various places in the park as well as places off the beaten track. Myself and my family learned so much from Rob. The van was comfortable and the company provided snacks, water and informational videos for the ride. In addition to the park, Rob recommended a place for lunch and took us to Rainbow falls and the Hilo farmers market. Rob and Jodi also provided us with invaluable tips for the rest of our vacation. This was undoubtedly one of the best tours I have ever been on in any country. I know it may seem pricey, but trust me -- you get what you pay for. 100% worth it.

Rob was amazing. From the first phone call, to the minute he dropped us off at our rental house. Very professional, very knowledgeable, and the Mercedes van was very comfortable for my adult family of 7. Rob had snacks, cold drinks, sunscreen, literally anything you asked for. He was very patient with each of our family, (25-73 age ranges), answered all our questions with knowledge and enthusiasm. He took us to the best place for Malasadas , and they did not disappoint….very yummy! Waipelo valley, waterfalls, Mr Ed’s and more, all great!! We changed things up a little during our tour, when we got hot, and Rob took in all in stride. no hiccups or delays at all. He recommended Cafe Pesto in Hilo, and it was fabulous! The videos he shows in his van, are very impressive and worth watching. We have done many private tours, all over the world, and they were definitely in the top tier. We can not recommend end oh, Big island VIP tours. There literally was not one negative thing, any of our 7 adult family members, could think of about our tour.
