Love helicopter tours and the staff was great getting us on board and the tour itself was amazing. Paying for the front seat upgrade is always worth it for us and we highly recommend this tour. Several operators recommended this company as the best. The only thing I would say is that we didn't like the style of our helicopter pilot/tour guide. It was one of those question/answer type thing where he constantly asked us what things were and of course none of us knows the answer or we wouldn't have been on the tour. I find this irritating and would rather be told more information about Hawaii and the things we are seeing. I'm not sure if it was our pilot or if this is a script but if it's a script PLEASE change it. No one likes feeling stupid and we don't care what hotel each person is staying in or even where they are from. Not necessary for a 2 hour tour that should focus on the island of Hawaii and all it's natural wonders.

My wife and I did this tour last week which I booked online. I was sent an email confirmation of the trip and the details such as arrival time and what you should wear(dark clothes). I was scheduled for the 0915 trip but ended up changing it to the early trip which I did via email.

We arrived and checked in and were both weighed. This is so they can place you on the aircraft in the right spot so the weight is distributed properly. A safety video is watched before you fly explaining the procedures in the event of an emergency.

We were introduced to our Pilot, Toshi. He was an amazing pilot who took us over the volcanoes and various waterfalls. He was very enlightening and encouraged questions throughout the trip. He was funny and very safety conscious as well. I think he said he was flying for 21 years and you could tell he was good by the way he handled his aircraft.

Our trip lasted for two hours and was one of the highlights of our visit to the Big Island!

I know this is an expensive tour, however I would highly recommend paying the extra money to land at the waterfall along the coast. We wanted to but they only allow so many landings at the falls for each trip and our time was already booked for this. I was envious of the two helo’s that were on the ground as we flew overhead.

Made reservations 5 days before and booked two front seats for extra charge. The ladies on the phone were so kind and helpful. Once we arrived and went through the safety briefing Marco our pilot loaded us up. We did the 0800 flight and had a perfect weather day. Oceans were glass and saw lots of wales and dolphins. Pilot was an encyclopedia of information. We toured the active volcano and spent plenty of time circling so both sides got fantastic views. Landed at the base of a 1200 ft. Waterfall spent plenty of time and then the pilot said the best is yet to come…..really!!! He was right! Music was playing in our headsets as we flew through box canyons and multiple waterfalls and scenery that you have to experience to believe. Professionally run from top to bottom and appropriately emphasizing safety.

They provided a thumb drive with a video of the flight. So worth it !!!

This tour is simply amazing! Our pilot, Matt, gave us a very smooth flight and told us much history and information about the sights we saw from above. We were treated to flyover of the US military base shortly after takeoff We were told it is a very rare occurrence to get clearance to fly through their airspace. We had been on a Big island driving tour the previous day so we had seen many of these spots from the ground, but the air perspective was totally different. The views inside of the craters at Volcanos National Park were incredible, as was the peek inside the huge steam vent. Then we flew over to the gorgeous Hamakua Coast and into the stunning valleys along that coast which you can’t see from the ground. The Waimanu Valley in particular was stunning with it’s series of 2,000+ feet tall waterfalls cascading over the cliffs. But the most magical moment of our tour was the landing at a remote waterfall right on the coast - a paradise all our own - for about 20 minutes anyway. Matt was very accommodating of a family photo shoot, and knew which angles to use to get the best shot of the helicopter, family and waterfall all in one image. As a note: I booked this tour when Kilauea was still erupting. When it stopped, I almost cancelled this tour. I'm so glad I didn't. It was incredible even without the eruption.

Not sure where to start, other than my family and I had an unbelievable time and want to tell everyone that this is a must do if on the big island. The helicopter was clean and flew very nicely, the music and narration was amazing and what we saw on our flight was breathtaking, words can not describe how amazing it was. A shout-out needs to be made to our pilot Toshi, who was funny, persoanable and made our journey even more special. Thank you Toshi.

My husband and I have been visiting the Hawaiian islands for over 17 years. By far today was one of the most magical experiences we have ever encountered while in Hawaii. Toshi was our amazing pilot on our 2 1/2 hour helicopter excursion over the Big Island of Hawaii including a private waterfall landing. Toshi’s knowledge, smooth flying skills, his ability to make every passenger feel included and welcomed made for a once in a lifetime experience that my husband and I will cherish for many years. This tour super exceeded our expectations and we were so happy we got to enjoy this beautiful experience. Thanks Toshi. I highly recommend this tour. My husband and I will be sending all of our friends and family lots of pictures from today’s tour accompanied with strong recommendations to book a tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

This was the absolute highlight of our 10 day trip to the Big Island. My 72 year old parents, husband, and I are still talking about how incredible it was. We were disappointed when we wouldn't be able to fly over Volcano National Park due to weather. Instead we got an extended tour over and around other areas of the island - Kohala craters, Mauna Loa, and Mauna Kea. Greg, our pilot, was fantastic at pointing out interesting sites and geological features and answering our questions. But he balanced that with quiet moments for us to just listen to inspiring music and savor the beauty of the valleys and waterfalls. We paid for the waterfall landing add on and it did not disappoint - absolutely magical.

Very well organized and safe tour. Friendly and informative from the start to end. The helicopter was very comfortable and easy to view from. The pilot was outstanding with info about the sights and history of Hawaii. He was very skilled with flying close to the sites and turning so everyone got a great view. We got great views of everything and even whale spotted along the coast. The volcano was active while we were there and it was exciting to see flowing lava. The ability to fly in the jungle valleys and get close to the waterfalls was awesome. Must do item.

Spectacular views of the island - Kilaueau volcano crater, Kohala Valley, Waipi'o Valley, Hilo and its rain, and the changing terrain that coexists on a single island. Our pilot Toshi was amazing - very knowledgeable about the island's history and a great tour guide. The waterfall landing was also a special treat - a bit pricey and amazing experience to get that up close and personal to a 800 foot waterfall. Great experience and would highly recommend

Had the pleasure of taking a Blue Hawaiian tour in 2007 and knew that when we returned to the Big Island with our 12 year old son, a tour would be at the top of our list.

Did this excursion at the beginning of our stay on the Kona Coast. Shane was our pilot. He was an excellent tour guide and made it comfortable for all (including our sometimes shy 12 year old son) to ask as many questions as they wanted.

Would definitely put this high on the list of excursions for those visiting the islands. Have never used another helicopter company in Hawaii, so do not have a point of comparison, but based on our two experiences with Blue Hawaiian, 14 years apart, would not hesitate to recommend them!
