This is a full morning and afternoon of immersion with ANADESA, a local community development organization. Participants will learn about the impact of the Armed Conflict in Santiago Atitlán by visiting the Stanley Rother Chapel then touring the Peace Park lead by ANADESA. They will then facilitate a cooking class and market visit to make a local dish. After lunch, we will learn more about how ANADESA is positively impacting the community through their education project for children in the Santiago area as well as empowering women by accompanying them in their small business endeavors. We will finish the afternoon sipping coffee and enjoying sweet bread while participating in a beading workshop to truly understand the tediously made jewelry that many women in Santiago produce, including ANADESA.
