About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- ByronCortez8880 contributionsGreat TimeI had a very amazing time with my tour guide Esteban Calvillo. I sighed up for the 8 hour day trip. Esteban took me to the Kaminaljuyu and Iximche’ Mayans ruins. Esteban is a Great tour guide. Very smart and knowledgeable. He knows so much about the Ancient Mayans history. I highly recommend booking a trip with him.Written April 26, 2024
- 888Penny0 contributionsBespoke City TourI asked for a bespoke tour, as I couldn't find what I was looking for, and it wasn't a problem. My guide Esteban was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. We had to make a last minute change of plan and went to see Kaminaljuyu, which was fabulous, I didn't think I would have the chance to see it, and the weather was perfect. I highly recommend it, it really does help to have a local native who knows the roads, the history and the passion to deliver a great day.Written April 20, 2024
- AlwaysTraveling240 contributionsWhat an AWESOME day!First I want to express how lovely our tour guide, Pamella, was to be around and learn from. She made the experience well worth the price. Pamella was on time and the vehicle was immaculate. We went to a fantastic lookout point which had an amazing view of Antigua. Pamella was knowledgeable and shared great information about the town, the customs, and the people. I’ve been to Antigua before, but I saw many things that were missed on other tours I’ve taken. Time at the monasteries blew me away. I had no idea how they lived or the history. We had a chance to walk on the roof of Iglesia Merced. We stopped at several hidden restaurants and bakeries we would’ve otherwise missed had we been on our own. We also enjoyed the thorough tour of Guatemala City which gets a bad rap it no longer deserves. The visit through the main shopping area and the city market were my absolute favorite. This tour was about 8 hours and the time went by fast. Don’t hesitate to book this tour. You won’t be sorry you did. Happy Travels ☺️Written February 21, 2024
- PauletteT080 contributionsA must do when traveling to Guatemala!!This was an amazing experience. I saw a lot of landmarks and the tour was very informative. I wish there was more time for shopping but overall, I would highly recommend this tour when traveling to Guatemala.Written February 10, 2024
- IlianaB5270 contributionsNice historical tour!My husband and I really enjoyed the private tour of Guatemala City and Antigua with Esteban Calvillo. We really appreciated his love of the Mayan culture. He took us to some amazing viewpoints and explained in detail the history of Guatemala, food, and culture. We highly recommend this tour!Written February 8, 2024
- Guide7998050 contributionsIf you are visiting Guatemala use this professional guide service! Highly recommended!Overall I highly recommend this company for a tour of you are visiting Guatemala. My wife and I had a private tour with Esteban Calvillo. This guide was very professional! He arrived on time and explained the Mayan history as we drove to Guatemala City. Our first stop was the Mayan ruins. Esteban has a passion for the Mayan history and gave us details as we observed several ruins within a historical site. We also observed Mayan ceremonies that were taking place onsite. Thereafter we went to the city and he gave us a personal tour of the governmental areas, shopping areas, and churches. Thereafter, we had an excellent Gautemalan lunch and headed back into Antigua. There we visited several historical churches, a convent, and the area view of Antigua with the mountains and volcano that can be observed from this point. Overall this was an extremely well designed tour and would recommend this to anyone visiting Guatemala.Written February 6, 2024
- lonniew7870 contributionsA Phenomenal Tour ExperiencePamella Lopez was a phenomenal tour guide. Her passion and her love for her country and the sharing of information and her knowledge made me feel immersed into the history of the Guatemalan culture. - ralr990 contributionsAwesome introduction to GuatemalaThis was a very personized tour conducted by a very knowledgeable tour guide, Esteban. He was very passionate about the Mayan culture and provided a lot of information about the history of the Mayans, Central America and Guatemala. Overall the tour was very professionally organized, and I highly recommend it!Written January 9, 2024
- Heather H0 contributionsIf you have time - this is worth the trip.My tour guide Esteban was very knowledgeable and informative. It was a private tour so just the two of us. It was really nice to get a tour of the city and learn about the Mayan culture and ceremonies. It’s neat because our indigenous people (though different countries and cultures) are actually very Similar which I didn’t know until my tour with him. I appreciate the time he took to explain everything clearly and his English was great! Thank you for the wonderful experienceWritten December 31, 2023
- AmbsTV0 contributionsBrilliant day out!We had the best time on this tour, it wasn’t a sunset tour as we imagined & there is no longer active Lava but still brilliant. We first went to Pacaya and hiked with a local guide where at the top we had freshly cooked pizza! We then returned to the base and went into Guatemala City for a walk around the historic centre!Written August 20, 2023
- IrinaKnowsBetter0 contributionsAwesome tour and a lovely tour guide! If you are pressed for time, private tour of both Guatemala City and Antigua is a way to go! It was so lovely to learn about the history of both, do some shopping and create wonderful memories. Quick tip: ask your tour guide to start early due to traffic in the morning and also possibly of rain in the evening. My tour started at 9:30 am and it was late because we hit some heavy traffic on our way to Antigua and also it started to rain after our late lunch in Guatemala CityWritten May 8, 2023

All of the logistics around the tour were perfect -- great communication, easy to book, they even offered a carseat for my daughter. The vehicle was comfortable, wifi worked great, and all of the stops were well-planned and interesting. I've been in Guate for a year, and I saw a ton of new and interesting things.
Be prepared that is is a FULL day. We were exhausted by lunchtime. It's also not super kid-friendly, and I wish we'd made other arrangements for my 4 y/o. Usually, she loves this sort of thing, but the bouncing around and quick pace made it hard for her to get into anything.
The guide was polite, knowledgeable, and very helpful during the tour. He was flexible when we requested changes to the schedule and could quickly and easily answer our questions about the places we visited.
What really turned us off was all the political commentary -- about Guatemalan politics and US politics alike. The guide was very knowledgeable about the sites and their history, but would often diverge to talk about his personal opinions on capitalism, the Trump presidency, and why the Mayan people lack the ability to think logically due to deficiencies in their language (*eyeroll*). I am very liberal, and my sister who traveled with us is very conservative, and we both walked away offended -- no small feat! It made it hard to simply enjoy the history of the places we visited because we weren't sure what was being filtered. I also wish there was more of an emphasis on the STORIES behind the sites, not just the facts. It felt a little dry.
It was a nice tour and I would recommend the company as a whole, but I hope the guide sticks to the facts next time.
