- Robrod660 contributionsBelize ATM tourAmazing adventure! We had a private tour and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. The views during the hike to the cave were amazing! Going through the caves while climbing over rocks and swimming thru the cold water was a challenge, but doable for someone in decent shape.Written October 13, 2024
- kathyoF4159MS0 contributionsBest day of my trip!I packed a lot of great experiences into one week in Belize, but the highlight was the tour to Caracol with our guide Leo. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel to drop-off, the day was full of good conversation, laughs and interesting information on a variety of subjects. This is low season, and we were so fortunate to be able to visit this beautiful site without any other visitors, just the three of us and Leo. The cave and pools before/after Caracol rounded out the day with a nice balance of nature and archeology.Written October 8, 2024
- tarabX4926BU0 contributionsCave tubing is a must do!Cave tubing was such a great experience. Our group had two guides, Leo and Marlon. They were both so knowledgeable about the nature on the walk to the start of the tubing, the cave formations, and the history in the cave. Exploring the cave was so much fun and the lunch was delicious. I also did cave canoeing the next day with Leo and he had so much information about the cave and how the Mayans used the cave. This company does a great job and I highly recommend.Written October 2, 2024
- leannefitzg0 contributionsGreat cave for any age/fitness levelEnded up doing this tour as the Crystal Caves were closed but I'm delighted I did them in the end. Our guide was Ben, he was great at pointing out some wildlife and giving us info on the walk through the jungle. So many leaf cutter ants which were amazing to see. The walk through the jungle is all flat, nothing to worry about. You cross the river 3 times, once was chest height but the other times was about knee height. Ben made us wear lifejackets the entire time which kept us warm inside the caves and also protected from scratches in the few right squeezes! The caves themselves were great, there were a couple of tight spaces but nothing to be worried about, no crawling for long periods of time or anything like that. Ben constantly told us where to put our feet and how to climb up or down any difficult parts. We saw some crystals made from quartz in the caves, and ancient coral reef formations. Lots of other minerals and elements were pointed out too I just can't remember the names but it was very informative. The relics were interesting to see, I probably enjoyed the actual caving more but it was hard to imagine people going that deep into the caves with all their pots etc. Great trip, everyone could do it with any level of fitness.Written July 25, 2024
- shooser0 contributionsCave Tubing Adventure with Francisco! We had an incredible time on our cave tubing adventure with Francisco. His knowledge of the jungle and the cave system was so impressive! He also took extra time and care with those in our group that needed assistance as we explored the cave and during our cave swim. We learned a lot, had fun, and he started us a little further up the river to give us a more personal experience away from another group! Thank you Francisco! We would recommend a tour with you to anyone!Written July 14, 2024

- hhhid0 contributionsBelize Caving Expedition ATM cave 5 Stars!Belize Caving Expeditions offers a all inclusive extreme caving experience. Starting with personal pick up from my resort, we picked up anfew other passengers and headed to the ATM cave. We were instructed the routine which includes only bringing a water bottle and helmet. Water shoes with socks highly recommended, you will be wearing these the whole time. We were broken up into groups of 8 or less. There were a lot of people waiting for the tour, I was worried it would be overcrowded, but eventually that wasn’t the case. We were guided by Manual,Manny who did a wonderful job. He stopped numerous times along the hike to give valuable history of the jungle, belize and what to expect inside the cave. The hike involves wading through 3 rivers then the entrance of the cave to swim in. You are instructed to stay in single file line and telephone instructions back. Next is the fun part. The extreme caving involves squeezing through crevices, swimming when it’s deep, using the walls to guide you and climbing up steep rocks. No ropes. We saw so many artifacts and skeletons . The cave tour lasted 3-4 hours. The hike back was fast and the tour company provided a hot Belizian meal that was delicious. Would highly recommend Belize Caving Expeditions for your next cave tour.Written May 30, 2024
- M9824KZkellyb0 contributionsBest cave experience full of adventureThis is a must do for those who love caves , adventure and Mayan history. You are driven by the company to the site where You leave everything except water and hike for 45minutes thru chest high water. You then swim into the cave and walk, climb swim thru the cave for 3 hours. We had an amazing tour guide, he was older and seemed to know everything about the area and the people.Written May 22, 2024
- karleys20130 contributionsFun day tubing & spelunkingHad a great day with Marlin as our guide. He picked us up at our resort (prearranged) and drove our group of 4 plus 3 others to the location. Takes about an hour 15 min from San Ignacio. Shared info about the region/country along the way. You then get a hard hat, life vest (required) and inner tube. Choice of him doing all the work (linked together) or you doing all the work. Water level was very low. He shared info along the path where you cross the river 3 times & walk about 30 minutes (with several stops along the way for info). Once at the cave he takes you through, explaining things along the way. I was surprised we got out of the tubes and did a little hiking (spelunking) up a small waterfall and around some formations. We jumped from a ledge about 12 feet into the water below then made our way out of the cave where you float about 20 minutes more. Lunch was jerk chicken (leg & thigh piece) red beans & rice, chips & salsa & coleslaw with punch & water. Then you head home. A long but fun day.Written May 19, 2024
- Roam297308178060 contributionsATM Cave- Belize Caving ExpeditionsBelize Caving Expeditions were our guide through ATM Cave. Expectations were high because of all the great information online, and our experience exceeded those expectations, by a wide margin. It was a fantastic day! The geologic features were simply stunning, and seemingly endless. The archaeology very interesting. Our guide Fernando was very informative, providing great insights throughout the tour, while keeping a close watch on safety. Thanks Fernando! The ATM Cave was a real highlight in our Belize trip. We’ll recommend Belize Caving Expeditions to family and friends.Written May 11, 2024
- sarabP187PF0 contributionsUnforgettable experience and amazing tour guide!Tikal was an experience I will always remember. Our tour guide, Ronnie, was fantastic! He was born in a local town nearby. He knew all the wildlife species and site history, and pointed out all the birds and wildlife during our tour. He took us off the main walkways and into narrow jungle trails which made it feel like we were the only ones there. It was a very authentic adventure. The order in which he showed us the different structures kept building in intensity and grandeur, which added to the overall experience. The expanse of Tikal both in scale and the buildings over time (chronology) just blew my mind. I felt shook to my core and I'm so thankful the Guatemalan gov't has done such a great job recognizing and preserving the site, and allowing us tourists to visit. A note on the trip to Tikal: We were picked up from our Air BnB in San Ignacio. From there we drove to the border and had to pass through customs and security (bring your passport!). Make sure you bring cash to pay the exit fee in Belize as the credit card machine isn't always working. A separate driver and tour guide meets you on the Guatemalan side. Bring lots of water, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes.Written May 6, 2024
- sarabP187PF0 contributionsA unique experience we'll always remember! Our tour guide, Patrick, was amazing! He was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He took the tour at a slower pace and really described the local culture, plants, and Mayan history in detail. The cave itself was incredible. It really felt like such a special place to visit and experience. It was so unique and I had a blast swimming through parts of the cave. The lunch food was delicious and I appreciated all the work they put into it.Written May 6, 2024

- gracie3cates0 contributionsCaving into Mayan historyThis was my favorite experience in Belize. It was adventure and intrigue, history and learning. Overall, exhilarating and magical. You go hiking, swimming, and weave through a cave's passages. Our guide, Fernando was outstanding. He knew so much information about the history of the cave and the Mayan people who used it for rituals. Every place we stopped along the way, he would tell us the connecting story. His passion for this place and its history was evident. I absolutely loved this adventure.Written April 20, 2024

We did a combo tour with this and the cave tubing. It was a fabulous day! Francisco was so knowledgeable and his love of Belize’s culture and nature was evident. It is obvious he is respected and well known in the community and among the other tour guides.
Francisco also did our transfer from Belize City to Cristo Rey. It was like a bonus tour and orientation to the area :) highly recommend!

The tour was less than four hours from San Ignacio which is a nice break from the typical 12hr excursion. Our tour guy was friendly and very knowledgeable about the ruins. Was one of my top experience and highly recommended other to do.

We did a full day combo tour with Miguel and it was fantastic. Miguel is a fountain of knowledge and he was happy to share some if it with us. My wife is legally blind and Miguel did and incredible job in making sure she enjoyed her day. With his help she was able to get to the top of the tallest pyramid with the rest of us.

Went horseback riding and touring Xunantunich with Edgar today. He was a wonderful guide: very knowledgeable, a good storyteller and funny. With lunch and transfer included, our group really had the best, well-organized day in San Ignacio.

Our tour guide, Abel, was awesome. He is fairly new to being a tour guide, but we would have never known. He was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. It was just my husband and I on the tour with him so it was a very private and fun experience. Xunantunich is a fantastic site with so many structures to explore. The history and culture is amazing and Belize gov't has done a great job preserving the heritage and structures. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring plenty of water. We saw lots of wildlife, too!

My two adult sons and I enjoyed the Xunantunich Mayan ruins and cave tubing with Belize Caving Expeditions, but what really made it great was our guide, Bryton. I have taken trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Scandinavia, and throughout the Caribbean, and he is one of the best two guides that I have ever had.
