Great experience with MayaWalk
Jun 2021 • Couples
My husband and I did the Barton Creek Cave with the Buttery Farm tour earlier this week. Our guide was very knowledgeable, personable, and professional throughout the trip. They also picked us up at our hotel. The cave was beautiful and he did a great job of going through the history and significance to the Mayans. Would definitely use this company again.

great tour
Mar 2020 • Couples
We did the Barton creek tour on the morning of March 4th 2020. I am bad with names so I forgot the name of our tour guide and driver but they were both great and knew a lot about the local history, local plants, current events, and were very respectful of the environment and ourselves. The tour of the cave itself was amazing and we stopped at Big rock falls after for a refreshing swim ( it was over 37C that day ).
The driver went out of his way to help us make it back to our hotel on time so we could catch our bus back to Mexico. I would definitely reccomend this company and that you go see big rock falls, as well as Barton creek cave system. Thanks again guys!

AMAZING TOUR AMAZING SERVICE!
Jun 2019 • Couples
I usually hate going on tours while traveling, but oh my, this one was a treat! We loved exploring the San Ignacio area with our tour guide Ensalmo! He was knowledgeable, kind, and fun to talk to.

We were the only people to book this particular tour that day but they didn't cancel, instead we enjoyed a private tour, and it couldn't have been more perfect! First we canoed in Barton Cave, we chose to do Barton instead of ATM because it was closer to San Ignacio and we were only there a limited time. I am happy we did! It was quiet and peaceful and not overrun with tourists. Then we went to Big Rock Falls and again, there were only 3 other people there! We swam up to the waterfall and it realy did not seem like real life!

After our swim, Ensalmo busted out a homemade meal and some delicious rum punch... ugh so perfect! I can't wait to visit again, thank you so much for the amazing experience!

Hello Kayla, Thank you for taking the time out to write us such a wonderful review showcasing your experience with MayaWalk Tours. Barton Creek is a beautiful cave and our guide Anselmo is a very fun and knowledgeable. I am glad you got to experience and enjoy his tour ending with a refreshing swim at the Big Rock Waterfalls. Our homemade lunch and rum punch is made with love and i am happy to hear you enjoyed that as well. We look forward to seeing you when you return. Cheers and safe travels. Book them - awesome day, excellent guide, great communiction
Mar 2019 • Family
My experience with MayaWalk Tours started weeks before our actual trip as I began to research different companies to use for our cave tour/zip lining while in San Ignacio. They have a message/chat function on their website which was incredibly helpful. They always replied within minutes to my many questions about the cost, logistics of the day, etc. We did the zipline/cave tubing full day trip and it was an excellent experience! Our guide was Daryl and he was phenomenal! I mean, really exceptional! We only had 5 people in our tour which was really nice. The tour was supposed to leave at 8am but they emailed the night before and asked us to come at 6:45am so we could get ahead of the cruise ships tours. They wanted us to have a peaceful experience in the caves versus visiting them with hundreds of people who were all taking and shouting. I really appreciated that!
We did the zip line first and it was really awesome. There are 6 runs (the first is kind of a little practice run). It was our 6 year old daughters first time and they guys were so good with her. She was able to do 3 of the runs all on her own and LOVED it! The last 3 were very fast and long so she went tandem with one of the guides. One of the runs can get up to speeds of 50mph! The runs were beautiful thru the jungle and over water. We are so glad we added this on to the cave tubing.
After the zip line we did the cave tubing. It is a bit of hike to where you put in your tube, but we loved hiking and hearing about all the insects, animals and plants. Daryl was very knowledgeable and made the hike fun. I would highly suggest wearing shoes like keens or something similar. A traditional water shoe will NOT cut it on the hike. One lady was wearing that type of shoe and she struggled with the rocks and roots. Make sure the shoe has a hard bottom and can get wet as you wear them right into the water. Bring a change of dry clothes that you can leave in the van and change into after the trip so you are dry for lunch and the ride back. We applied sunscreen and bug spray before we left for the trip. Once you get the mouth of the caves you are in the water for about 2-2 1/2 hours. It goes by very quickly. Daryl had incredible information to share about the Mayans and their rituals in the caves as well as the cave formation. You float along leisurely and literally just relax as you take in the sights.
After the trip you can change and then we headed out to lunch at a nearby restaurant which was included in the price of the day. We had local cuisine which was very tasty.
I highly recommend this tour, MayaWalk and if you are lucky enough to get Daryl, you won't be disappointed. As a side note, my shoe literally fell apart at the end of the tour and I still needed them for upcoming days. Daryl took us to two different stores to find super glue so I could fix my shoe! Awesome customer service!!

Booking problems, beware!
Dec 2018 • Family
I had major difficulties booking tours with mayawalk through TripAdvisor. Beware, you cannot actually change dates or cancel until they confirm your trip which they don't do until the very last minute. So, if you have any doubts or need to make any changes whatsoever, do not book online. You can get better prices from other tour companies that provide more personal service. Just walk down burns street and find a guide who is available. Mayawalk is probably the biggest and the tours are large, if you want a smaller tour, find a different provider. They are professional, but they don't care about your business like the little guys do.

Hello Sheriann, My deepest apologies for your experience during the booking process. Upon your booking, we tried contacting you by phone to confirm time and place of meeting for your tour. Eventually we got through to your husband who mentioned he would pass on the message to you. You got in-touch with us and we were able to confirm your tour right after. Upon your request your tour date was also adjusted to fit your schedule as you mentioned you had difficulty with Viator who was the third party involved. We at Mayawak Tours try our best to make the booking process as easy as possible but in this case the booking was done through a third party. Mayawalk would like to take this opportunity to clarify some of the facts mentioned about our operations. Contrary to what was mentioned we are a small Belizean Family owned operator with a staff of 16 people. We have been in business for 20 years which might make us look as big as some of the larger operators in Belize. We have very loyal employees that have been with us for more than 17 years. Mayawalk has been at the head of the game when it comes to bringing adventure tours to our clients in a safe and professional manner, and set the standards for others in the business. Once again Sheriann, i truly apologize for the delay in confirming your tour as we were trying to follow confirmation procedures. We have certainly learned from your review, that clients booking through viator are unable to make changes until their tour is confirmed by the operator. This is information we were not aware of and will ensure to confirm all bookings immediately before reaching out to clients regarding details of their tour so you can make changes and updates as needed. We hope that someday we can take you on a tour and you would be able to see the quality of service that we offer. Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate your input. Cheers and safe travels. Samantha and the mayawalk team.

A fun day and an absolutely unique experience
Mar 2018 • Family
First we zipped through the jungle on ziplines, then floated through the amazing caves with our incredibly knowledgeable guide. We were 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 9-15) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The zipline is double-cable and there are technicians at every level who do all the hooking and unhooking for you, so it was fun and easy even for this nervous mama! And the caves are a must-see. It's a bit of a hike in and you carry your tubes with you, but the trail is level and well maintained...not strenuous at all - even for our littlest ones. They top it all off with a delicious lunch in the picnic area and a comfortable drive back to San Ignacio. It was a day well spent.
