Pickup details- Our departure points are usually from the San Pedro Belize Express for our clients coming from Caye Caulker and San Pedro, or from Terminal 1 at the cruise ship dock for our cruise ship clients. If you need us to pick you up from a specific hotel, let us know via email and we’d be glad to accommodate your needs. We can do pickups anywhere in Belize City. Guests on San Pedro, Caye Caulker, St. George's Caye and other islands would need to come in to Belize City to be picked up. Our tours usually leave at 9:00 AM CST, but if you’d like to leave earlier, let us know. We do not offer pickups at Harvest Caye for cruise passengers coming on Norwegian Cruise Line ships as it is a private island owned by that company and most local operators are unable to offer tours there.

This really is something you have to experience for yourself. The boat ride up the New River takes about an hour and our host pointed out local wildlife and plants we never would have noticed ourselves. Lunch was *delicious*. On the way you can see quite a substantial part of the country. The trip takes at least 6 hours but it is worth doing!Written August 10, 2024
- Curious2607000 contributionsFantastic tour and tour guide, Eric!This was a GREAT tour. Our guide, Eric, was fantastic! The cave tubing was a lot of fun, and the Mayan ruins were beautiful. Eric even coaxed a beautiful little tarantula out of it's hole in the ground. We even got the chance to meet Jose, the owner of the company. If at all possible, it would be amazing to have both Eric and Jose on the tour. Jose is hilarious and quite a character! Don't tour Belize without them.Written March 17, 2024

We were picked up at our hotel, took the drive to Altun Ha. Nelson explained just enough about the site and the civilization/what the Mayans did at this site. We only spent about an hour (perfect). Have to call out - best souvenirs to date! Then we headed to the cave tubing. My husband is sun-sensitive so tubing in a cave fit perfectly. Again, a very informative but relaxing tour/day. He stopped at a little gas station so we can buy some water and basic stuff for the hotel room. Then the next morning bright and early, he picked us up at our hotel in Belize city and allowed us to keep our luggage in the van the whole day, and at the end of our tour dropped us off at the ferry so we could get off to Caye Caulker. He allowed us to tweak the tour a bit because it was private, we thought the price was very fair, he took lots of pictures and was patient with us with timing. Loved how you actually get to climb up on top of the ruins! Also the zip lining was way cool, but definitely a lot of hiking!! Totally worth it.Written August 24, 2023

We enjoyed learning about the history of the Mayan and the river boat ride was so much fun! We got to see a bit of wildlife during the day. Jose was an awesome guide—super knowledgeable and really well-connected with the locals. He went above and beyond in communication - keeping in touch well before the trip started, so everything felt well-organized. He is super friendly and willing to help, which I truly appreciate! Belize is so different from other places I’ve visited, so having a local guide like Jose made all the difference when navigating unexpected situations. It's definitely worth it and I'm so glad I made this decision!
The trip itself was a great experience! Belize City has a unique vibe and culture worth checking out, and Altun Ha was super cool—well-maintained and fun to explore. Plus, Jose took some great photos for me, which was a nice bonus!
There was one slightly awkward moment when he asked if I had a boyfriend. It’s a personal question in my culture, but I think he meant it in a friendly way, as that’s probably normal locally. Other than that, Jose was professional and made the whole trip smooth and enjoyable.
Belize in general is a bit more challenging compared to other places I’ve been—things like infrastructure aren’t perfect, prices are higher, and communicating with locals can be tricky at times. This tour was more expensive than similar ones I’ve done in the region, but that seems to be the norm here. Even with those challenges, Jose made the trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Would recommend Jose to everyone looking for a hustle-free and flexible visit here!

I can’t recommend José enough. My mom was on a birthday cruise 2 years after the passing of her husband. José took care of my mom as if she was his own mother. She’s afraid of heights and José made her feel so comfortable she was able to climb to the top of the Sun God Temple … the highest point in the park!!!!! I hadn’t seen her smile this much in forever. It was the highlight of our cruise. José kept in communication with us from the very beginning and was early for our pickup from the cruise terminal. Very attentive, extremely informative and we felt at ease the entire tour. He adapted our schedule to allow for us to head back early to the port for another commitment. We had a great time and the sole reason we are considering coming back to Belize for either another cruise or even for a longer time is because of our confidence in knowing he can make our stay a fun and memorable one. Thank you José and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

This tour was so much fun, my family and I really enjoyed it! Jose was an awesome tour guide and he has a wealth of knowledge about Belize City and Altun Ha. The lunch that was included was delicious and it was just an awesome day. I highly recommend this tour.

Jose was an excellent tour guy. I was satisfied with this tour and thought overall it was worth the price. The lunch was at a small restaurant. The quality and portion size were very good. I enjoyed it. The runs at Altun Ha were nice. Maybe not as grand as I imagined but it was nice to see. The driving tour of Belize City was nice. I felt we had a good overall picture of the city. It was a nice way to spend 3 - 4 hours.

Jose was a great host, showing us the the real views of Belize, the Mayan temple and a great lunch spot! He made our morning very fulfilled before our late afternoon flight, where we didn’t have to worry, and just got to enjoy! He was kind and funny, taking pictures for us and sharing laughs all day.

Jose picked us up from the port and we were off for a day of adventure. It was just our group of 4 in a very comfortable, air conditioned mini van. Jose told us all about the city and pointed out historical sites and buildings and explained their significance on our way to Altun Ha. We stopped for a wine tasting of some local Belizean wine made from cashew fruit and Noni Juice (don't smell it, just shoot it down). Of course, we did not bring any bug spray so Jose was nice enough to stop and get some for us and oh man, we were so glad he did!! The recent rains really brought out the mosquitos so make sure you bring bug spray and wear light colored clothing. The ruins were absolutely gorgeous!! Jose told us all about the Mayans that built them and lived there. The ruins are very close to the entrance so you don't have to walk too far to get to them. I'm not in great shape at all and I made it to the top without too much struggle. Even if you don't want to walk up to the top of the ruins, still go and see this beautiful piece of Mayan history. Seeing something that is from 200AD is very amazing!!! After the ruins, we headed to lunch at Roadhouse and it was delicious!!! We had chicken, rice, beans, and coleslaw. Belizean Coca Cola is very yummy as well. Jose was an absolutely fantastic tour guide and you will not be disappointed if you choose one of his tours!!

Jose is a fabulous tour guide. He will make sure you see everything you want to and give you enough time to really enjoy the areas you visit. He also does airport transfers and is so reliable and friendly!

OK. Limited information provided about the area or what we were seeing that we couldn't read on signs for ourselves.
Guide used language that I think was supposed to be "friendly" but actually made me a bit uncomfortable at times.

Jose was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed seeing Altun Ha and the surrounding area. Our lunch at the Roadhouse Diner although simple, was delicious. In car beverages were a treat.
