About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- L8882XDannp0 contributionsAWESOME!!!!What and amazing day! Percy added the Altun Ha Mayan ruins to our trip without hesitation as we were close. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We ziplined and did the cave tour as well. Our adventure was totally awesome and did not disappoint! Percy is very knowledgeable about the history of Belize and shares many stories and adventures. He called me before our travel date to let me know what to expect and what we would need. He spent 10 hours with us and it was like we had been friend for a lifetime...very personable and has a great attitude...he LOVES what he does! Highly recommend booking with Royal Belizean Adventures!Written February 8, 2025
- 888kaceym0 contributionsAmazing, safe, and educational trip! This tour was incredible. Percy was our tour operator and driver. We felt so safe with him the entire time and he is so knowledgeable about the entire country. Before our tour, Percy reached out directly asking if we could leave earlier in the day to avoid the massive tour buses from the cruise ships, and I’m so glad we did! We ended up getting to Xunantunich prior to the mad rush. Eder was our tour guide at the ruins and he was AMAZING. He is so knowledgable about the region, the Mayan culture, and history. We loved our time with him walking around the ruins, and we got to see spider monkeys. On the way back from the ruins, we stopped along the Hummingbird Highway at St. Herman’s Blue Hole and had the place almost to ourselves. We also stopped at a local farm for ice cream after a delicious traditional Belizean lunch! Couldn’t recommend enough! Will be contacting Percy directly when we come back to Belize!Written February 3, 2025
- H3939OZerikg0 contributionsTour operator (Percy) is a criminal. DO NOT BOOK!Percy is a criminal. He advertised this private tour on Viator and allowed me to book for myself for $300. The day before, he demanded I pay him $100 more in cash as I was a solo traveler. Having planned this for a long time, I had no choice but to agree. I could not tell what this trip entailed, so asked him what I should wear and bring. He told me to bring swimwear and a change of clothes, which I did. He did not mention that you must swim for large periods in your shoes (you are not allowed to take them off) and when I showed up at 7am in a pair of £200 trainers he told me I needed crocs or waterproof shoes. He tried to find a place to buy them for me on the way but of course that was impossible. As a result my trainers were ruined and, not being suited for the trip, caused me to slip and fall three time. When I saw him after the tour, he told me I should have read the listing with respect to footwear but then admitted that it said nothing about footwear. Most important, after having paid, now, $400 in cash for a private tour I was put in a group with five other people. I could not hear anything the guide said--I was last of the five on our tour. Percy refused to refund any of my money. I have all of this documented and have filed a crime report with the police in Belize City. I will also file a complaint with the US consulate here. Do not book anything with Percy. He is a liar and a thief and will scam you at the first opportunity. I would highly recommend the ATM Cave tour but with any other operator. Please proper equipped--and everyone else had been properly informed by their tour operator as to what to wear--seemed to love it.Written February 1, 2025
- CareyKacey0 contributionsGreat Experience Visiting Ruins and Blue Hole from Placencia! We had a great day with Percy seeing Belize. The blue hole and ruins were great to see along with an authentic Belizian n lunch. Would highly recommend!Written January 30, 2025
- jenniferwV2657QY0 contributionsBuyer Beware - Another last minute cancelationI should have listened to my gut. The other review about being canceled on last minute gave me pause, but I booked anyway. Morning before the excursion, I received a confirmation for our trip. Late that same night, cancelation due to the guide being sick. I'm not saying anyone was lying, but it's incredibly inconvenient with little time to alter plans. We didn't let the change ruin our day. We found an alternate way to Altun Ha and it was an incredible experience. Find another way there.Written January 9, 2025
- jameshT2314BW0 contributionsGreat company to work with!We were not able to go on our adventure due to a tropical storm that came through. The company was very accommodating, and offered to rebook for another day or activity. We couldn’t due this due to travel plans, but received a prompt refund. I will reach out next time we’re in Belize and use Royal Belizean Adventures. I’m impressed with their quick response and handling of the situation.Written November 18, 2024

- U2618SVshawnas0 contributionsWell worth it!Percy and Jeff were both very passionate and proud about their country and it was evident throughout our entire experience with them. It started with a very puntual pick up, followed by an informative and cultural ride to the different activities. It felt like Percy ad Jeff were family, as they made sure we were comfortable, safe, and most importantly, having fun! I would definitely recommend this tour company again and if I ever visit Belize again; I know exactly who I'm calling.Written October 1, 2024

- S8260BRlaurah0 contributionsFantastic Tour guided by JeffOur tour was guided by Jefferson (Jeff) who in itself, turned out to be a very interesting person. We couldn't decide whether to do the Howler Monkey or Altun Ha along with the Cave Tubing. Since there were only 2 of us on our tour, Jeff made a phone call and said we could do all 3 with a minimal extra fee. So our last day in Belize turned out doing all the things we wanted to do before we left. We started out with visiting the Howler Monkeys which was a stop at a person's house who took us along a beautiful walk in the jungle calling for the monkeys. There is a family of 5 that live in the trees and sure enough, they all showed up. He gave us bananas and told us to stand with our backs next to a branch and they came down to grab the bananas. We got excellent photos and one even had a tiny baby with her. Then we headed to the Altun Ha ruins but not before Jeff stopped to grab a Biliken beer. Altun Ha was breathtaking. Be sure to wear a hat and comfortable shoes if you want to climb up to the top of the ruins to see the whole area. Then we headed to a roadside restaurant where we had a great lunch with roasted chicken, coleslaw and rice & beans which was deliciously homemade. Our last stop was the Nohoch Che’en Caves. Be sure to wear sturdy water shoes with a thick tread as you walk over a lot of rocks. Jeff changed into his swim attire and guided us through the caves carrying our tubes and pulling us along in the water. He was so informative pointing out everything in the cave including the small insect bats. After our tour, Jeff let us stop to get one final beer before taking us back to our hotel. Jeff has led the most amazing life and does so much for his community in Belize. The best part of the tour was talking to him and getting to know all about Belize. He has been doing the tour for almost 20 years and definitely made the trip more interesting with his wealth of knowledge at every stop. Thanks to Percy, the owner, for allowing us to change our pick up spot and go to Altun Ha which wasn't on our initial itinerary. We will definitely come back and use Royal Belizean Adventures again. Thank you!Written May 31, 2024
- Ontheroadtogether20 contributionsLong day!...But worth it!Did this excursion as part of our cruise on Carnival Paradise last week. If you are doing it as part of a cruise, be prepared, as it is a very long day...but worth it. First you take a 20 minute tender ride from the ship to shore, where there are plenty of shops, which you will get to look around in while you wait. Then you get on a bus for 2 hr and 15 minute ride. During the ride, your guides will talk about all things Belize. We had Dora and Jr., and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. When we got to the ruins entrance, there are locals there with a few roadside shops and water (2 for $5). Next, you climb on a hand cranked ferry for a short ride across the river. Then, a minivan will take you the mile up the hill to the actual entrance to the ruins. Then it is an uphill climb where you finally get to the actual site! Jr gave a very informative talk about the history. You are allowed to climb the ruins if you wish. My husband and sons climbed about 2/3 of the way up. They said the view was amazing! We were there about 45 minutes-1 hour. Then back on the bus to Hodes restaurant for lunch. Nice outdoor/indoor restaurant. We had Chicken made with Recado Seasoning, Macaroni Salad made with salad cream, and Beans and Rice. Soda, iced tea and water are included. Full bar if you want for an extra cost. Like I said before.... long day, but if it is on your bucket list (like my husband), it is worth it. Our adult sons loved it as well. Even our 26 year old, who didn't seem thrilled about going, said it was amazing! As for me, it was not something that was on my bucket list, but it was really cool that I got to see it.Written May 22, 2024
- Dan M0 contributionsGreat Tour Guide, Great tour! Our tour guide was Jeff, he was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, funny and took great care of us. Although it was a long ride there and back, Jeff kept us occupied with deep knowledge of the country, city and places that we visited. More than that, Jeff made us feel safe, and kept us on time. The Ruins are absolute must see, you could truly sense the history and the property is very well maintained and unadulterated.Written March 29, 2024
- 789mariamb0 contributionsAmazing tour!!This was such an amazing experience. Percy was very knowledgeable about the belizean culture and flexible. Visiting the Mayan ruins was absolutely amazing and we even made a stop to the Belize zoo. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Contact Percy via the number listed prior to booking so he can provide you with details and promotions he have at that time.Written February 26, 2024
- NorthStar6195860 contributionsTravelers beware !!We were so excited for our trip to see the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. I booked this trip a month ago for myself and my husband. I had already purchased our water taxi tickets totaling $130.54 for 2 round trip tickets from San Pedro to Belize City. Less than 24 hours before our tour was supposed to begin I received this message from the tour operator. (Pictured below) I understand people get sick, however given that this was booked a month in advance, paid in full, and other excursions were planned around this, something more needs to be done to rectify the situation. I also have some concerns given that 2 days before this tour was supposed to begin I received another message from the tour operator offering to give me a “cash price” which I respectfully declined given that it was already paid for on my credit card and to be perfectly honest seemed sketchy and not proper procedure when booked through TripAdvisor. (Also pictured below) Seems like a little more than a coincidence that after all of this correspondence my tour is cancelled at the last minute. I did receive a full refund as I should have, however the water taxi tickets are non refundable and I am writing this review to request a refund of an additional $130.54 for the 2 round trip water taxi tickets I paid for in advance of this canceled trip. We had other excursions planned and paid for during our stay in Belize so rebooking was not an option. Since the booking has been canceled by the operator I have no way of responding to the message about joining another tour. Given that I paid for a private tour that is what I expected. It’s unfortunate to have such a negative experience when the majority of the reviews seem positive, I am hoping this is a fluke for the operator and the situation can be rectified before seeking other means to fix this unfortunate situation I was put in. Looking forward to a resolution.Written February 8, 2024
