Not Good. Splash Agent tried to steer us to another person.
Last week on the day of my scheduled tour, I was greeted by Splash Wave representative who suggested that my group use the restroom before the tour. When I we returned shortly after, we were informed that the tour was "cancelled" but for a fee, we could take a private tour with another man who showed up. He had no credentials or indication that he was anything other than in on the scam. Stick with your Cruise Ship Tours! Belize is one of the murder capitals of the world and you should NOT enter an agreement with a private operator. This is dangerous. Shame on Splash Wave for promoting these dangerous situations.

Overcrowded and Dangerous – not enough life jackets for 36 passengers on their small boat!
Overcrowded and Dangerous – not enough life jackets for 36 passengers on their small boat! Hol Chan Marine Park and Shark Ray Alley Snorkeling by Splash Wave Tours via Viator. We typically book independent excursions to avoid large cruise ship crowds. In this case, it backfired. When the group started boarding just two boats, we could see that there were too many people for everyone to find a seat without sitting on top of one another. I asked our guide why there wasn’t a third boat, and she said gas was too expensive. When I asked how many passengers they normally book per boat, she said 25 people. We had 36 passengers plus 4 crew. We were packed so tight that the crew had to step on top of us to complete their tasks and stood in front of us during the boat ride since there was nowhere to sit. Several people got seasick from the hot, cramped seats in the front-covered section of the boat. It was a 40-minute boat ride in rough seas (without life jackets) to get to and from the snorkeling site. After we reached the snorkeling site, passengers were offered the option of life vests to help them float since the current was quite strong, and many requested them. We then realized there was a shortage of life jackets on the boat because they could not accommodate everyone who wanted one. The guide asked if anyone who had received a life jacket would be willing to give up theirs to an older woman who felt she needed one. Fortunately, someone did. To add to the danger of the life jacket shortage, the captain stopped the boat on the way back to the pier because of a problem with one of the engines. When I asked why they stopped, the crew member said the captain needed to check the fuel level. The concern about the fuel may have been a result of the power outage in the city that morning and the inability to pump gas. I’m not sure if it was engine failure or a lack of gas, but we entered the pier slip rather fast the captain lost control of the boat. He shouted that he couldn’t put the boat in reverse to avoid hitting the concrete dock, which he did hit quite hard. Then, the back of the boat swung to the side of the slip and the crew and passengers had to reach out and push the boat from hitting or going under the side of the pier. Splash Wave Tours and Viator need to put passenger and crew safety over profit!

      Splash Wave: Unprofessional and unreliable
This tour thru Viator and Splash Wave tours was a disaster from moment I booked 2-3 months ago. Sent several emails to Splash Wave asking for starting time of tour and what time to meet. No response. After repeated calls to Viator was told splash Wave would pick us up at our hotel in Belize City. The night before our tour got email from Viator saying our snorkeling tour to Goff's Caye was canceled. Splash Wave was the most unprofessional tour company I ever dealt with. I also have a low opinion of Viator for continuing to use a very unreliable company that is Splash Wave tours.

Awesome snorkeling experience on the reef
The excursion we did was actually shark Ray Alley and care Caulkner beach break. Our guides, Clayton and Sarah, along with the boat crew were amazing. Extremely knowledgeable regarding local history, aquatic and animal, life, and conservation protocols for the reef. With any excursion, I truly enjoy. I wish it was longer, but if anything, this excursion would certainly entice me to plan a vacation in Belize Rather than just a quick visit via cruise ship

      Great Trip!
My family cruised over spring break 2024 and had heard from a cousin that this was the excursion to do. Splash Wave did not disappoint! It was a very rough sea day and we had to alter plans a bit. They told us up front that since we had such rough seas the reef was not a safe option and we would not see anything due to the cloudiness of the water. Instead we spent extra time swimming with sharks and they took us over to an area where we could feed tarpon. The tarpon would jump completely out of the water to eat fish from our hands. The restaurant we ate at had some of the best food we ate on out trip. Our tour guide Stacy was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the area and history of Belize. She answered any question we had and even would hold sharks in her arms and let us "pet" them I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Tour left without us. Fighting to get a refund.
Awful. Tour operators left without us. We were stranded at the port. Did not go on the excursion. Everyone from our ship had to make other plans and pay for other plans. Now we can not get a refund. A refund that we were assured was coming on the day they left us. Nearly 2 weeks ago. They don't answer their phone. Ever. Belize is beautiful! Use someone else tho.

Disappointed in trying to cancel reservation
We called the vendor two dss as us prior to our planned arrival to cancel. One of our family members had an injury and we could not go to the resort. So we got our ships staff to help us call Splash Wave Tours to cancel and could not get any help. The lady we tried to talk with had so much noise in the background , from kids or other people, that we constantly had to repeat our comments and ask her to repeat her answers. After thirty minutes of trying to talk with her we thought we had cancelled. But a day later we still had not receive a confirmation. We called again and this time we were told to do it on line Needless to say we are disappointed in the service. We are so glad we never went to the resort

      Excellent pool day
Went to kusum a beach, old Belize. $10 per person each way from cruise terminal.$15 entry per person but provides sun beds, changing rooms, showers and toilet facilities. Very reasonable prices for food and drinks. Lagoon style pool with inflatables and water chute. Excellent day out .

      Disappointed
DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. If the booking doesn’t not have enough people it will get cancelled. Unfortunately they don’t offer an alternative if you’ve been waiting for 2 hours and then you’re out of luck because you missed any other opportunity to go snorkeling. Saddest day ever !! This was our last full day in Belize and wanted to see the reef and snorkel. Unfortunately they had us sit at the peer for 2 hours before they cancelled. I know they won’t know until the time of the excursion but they should be prepared for that and should have offered an alternative to make sure we get to snorkel.

      Terrifying Excursion
Goff’s Caye / Venture Ashore (broker) We’ve never had a more terrifying boat ride in our life. Cigar style fibreglass with foggy broken windows, wooden seating. 33 people crammed inside. High swells and many excursions cancelled but not this one. Many of us looked at the boat and said no way we will all fit - 33 people - and no way are we getting on there. But they did and we did. Every wave was like hitting cement; we were literally bruised the next day. They gave us a lifejacket to sit on or wear, we could decide. The guide laughed, “you thought we were going to sink.” Yes we did. About 40-50 minute torturous transfer to the island. We sat on the island for a while, it’s very pretty and we had fun playing with the island dog. Saw a lion fish off the dock in two feet of water. We got on the boat again to go snorkel. They expected everyone to jump off the side and finally put the ladder in when people insisted. We were told to use our lifejacket as a float, “tie it around your waist”. So we swam with it up around our armpits because the ocean decides … The swells were huge and we were told we were doing a “snorkel float”. They didn’t take us to the nice shallows, rather 15’ with nothing to see but the occasional fish and grey ocean floor. Children were crying in the water and some adults were struggling significantly. We went back to the island and sat around for an hour or so and then bumped our way another 45 min back to shore. Getting on and off this boat six times was a chore. One guy drank so much they had to lift him off the boat. This was far and away, the absolute worst excursion we have ever been on. Ever.

      Suya Rocks
Well it has been a while since I have been to Belize and I have fallen in love again. What great people and what a lovely country. We were the only two people on the tour today because it was so windy. I have done a fair number of excursions in my life and hands down this was one of the best if not "the best". Gabby our guide was all about safety even though my partner and myself were experienced divers and snorkelers. His respect and love for the reef was deep and sincere. We were so impressed. We watched several of the other tour companies and it was a "gong show"...definitely a "must do when in Belize"!

Snorkeling Shark Ray Alley & Coral Gardens. Sight seeing in Caye Caulker, Belize
One of the best tours ever! The staff communicated everything from information about surrounding area to safety measures. I didn’t want to go snorkeling so Ali gave me directions about the town of Cayenne Caulker and the time my husband would be returning from his adventure. I had the best time talking to locals and just site seeing. When they returned we all had a nice meal at Fantasy Restaurant. We fed tarpon fish using the biggest sardines I’ve ever seen. Ali and Stacey and crew were absolutely outstanding!

      would not recommend
Would not book with Splash Wave Tours. Tried to contact them twice before going with zero responses. They were unorganized and Unfriendly. When we got to Belize our questions were barely answered. No one seemed to know or tell us what was going on. When we got to the pier they were not friendly or helpful. We had to wait out in the heat for a long time, then they put us in a boat that the windows were covered and it was like an oven, and they left us in there about 45 min. before the the 30min. ride to the island. The guides seemed like they didn't want to be there. Except the Captain of the boat, he was talking and nice to some of the people, but the 2 women were not friendly. They looked like they didn't want to be there. We asked about a guide for the snorkeling and were told she didn't want to go in the water unless enough people wanted to. So we went on our own. I don't like to give a bad review but they really need to improve the way they treat guests! The island of Goff's Caye is a small beautiful island. With some clean bathrooms. A covered area with picnic tables where they sold some food, which was ok, $15 USD for a meal. We shared it. Snorkeling is ok, some nice coral, but not much and not many fish to see. Water is clear and nice. It just wasn't worth it!

The best way to spend a day in Belize City
What a great time! The staff were some of the most knowledgeable laid back people I've ever met. They made the entire experience fun, knowing where to direct you when snorkeling, and showing you close up the more interesting species living in the reef. The beach is beautiful and filled with interesting shells and coral from the surrounding reefs. Plus the food is a must, affordable, fresh fish/lobster cooked right in front of you ends up being an incredible time.

When we booked this tour we were informed it was wheelchair accessible. NOT
You have to somehow get into a little boat, fishing boat size, bobbing up and down in the Caribbean Sea. You have to go across the sea to get to the river. We had to leave three people behind due to the ability to get into the boat.
The boat ride down the river was interesting we did see a lot of wildlife
Then we transferred to a van. The driver was reckless. Driving 70 miles an hour weaving in and out of traffic, down very unsafe roads. It was like being on a 45 minute roller coaster ride from hell
I seriously considered finding another way back from the ruins.
It will be a tour I will never forget, but not for the right reasons
Our people that got left behind did not get a refund. Actually when asked at the ruins if they were brought by bus, the guide actually did not realize they were not on the tour. Very unprofessional they did lot even keep count

The trip started late while a van drove around town trying to find additional clients/victims. We were dropped at a dock with old breaking, paint-chipped benches to wait. We toured the Mayan Ruins, but the River and Manatee Watch tour was cancelled. They said it was cancelled because the water was rough, but there were several boats that we passed on the river that were touring. We chose to do a small group tour instead of the cruise tour and that was a bad decision. This tour group is very unorganized, ill-prepared, and not the experience that we wanted. We were offered a rum tour as a substitute, but no refund or partial refund was available. The other couple with us only booked the Mayan Ruins and paid less than half of what we paid and had the same tour.

Never got to take it. The tour was canceled the previous day so they asked if I could come back the following day. I said yes and came back the next day,. The tour was canceled again. I asked when it was scheduled again. They did not know and could not assure me the tour would proceed even If I booked again. I was offered another tour which I took(no real choice). Not what I wanted but the guide and boat captain made it interesting, informativeand enjoyable. Saved the experience fom being completely terrible. Still have to find another day and an Altun Ha Mayan Ruins tour.

Due to a late arrival by our cruise ship, we missed the departing time for our originally scheduled tour. However, the tour guide (Chris) from Splash Wave tours that we found was more than willing to help us out. They honored the reservation and substituted the Altun Ha tour instead. We ended up with one other couple and had a great time. Chris even made arrangements for a ride down the river, that wasn't part of the original tour. He went above and beyond the call of duty. We had a great time! I would definitely recommend Splash Wave Tours to any one visiting Belize

What a fab trip from P and O Ventura
Everything went smooth with a great tour guide, lots of info and a good look at Belize
The visit to Altan Ha was brill with plenty of time to clamber up temples etc and then lunch and a fabtetric river ride down river and back to the port.
Fast going for sure as we crammed lots in but the Old girl was thrilled to see monkeys, Salties and 6 manatee.

This company was GREAT. Attention to detail. We scheduled a tour and due some late night parting everyone (other passengers) cancelled at the last minute but the company ended up keeping the tour just for us which was AMAZING because it was private and they tailored it to the tow of us.

We have a nice AC van and because people cancelled late we missed the river portion so they offered us a bamboo sanctuary and lunch as part of our tour.

The ruins were GREAT! Only one other person was there so if REALLY felt like a private tour. No rude tourist in our pictures which was GREAT! WE were offered cold water which was needed because it was so hot.

The bamboo sanctuary was so nice and we got to feed the holler monkey's and ask as many questions as we wanted. Royce was very nice and knowledgeable about the monkey's and even showed us different plants around the sanctuary and we got to taste some bukut which is a seed pod that is high in iron.

I would for sure book with them again for all our tours.
