About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kristimF6901ZY0 contributionsSkip this company and find another one if you want to swim with the sharks and raysSwimming with the sharks and rays was a lot of fun, but the rest of the day was less than great. First, they were unorganized at the port and most people had to walk about half a mile to the dock where the boat was. There was no shade and they were a little rude and disorganized. It was 40 minutes after we met for the tour before we got on the boat. We were so tightly packed when we got on the boat that I couldn't even put my arms to my sides. It was extremely hot and we were packed in with no water. The snorkeling was meh. And our cash was stolen from inside our bag while we were snorkeling (so was the cash from the couple sitting next to us). We had to preorder lunch and the food was decent, but it took 30+ minutes to pay when there were only 4 people in line. Overall, we were almost 2 hours late to get back to the pier and we still had to tender back to the ship.Written January 11, 2025

- Ko H0 contributionsSlow start, awesome experience! Was a little worried at first because I had a hard time finding the meeting spot being a solo person on the tour and not coming from the cruise ship. Was at the meeting location at 7:30 am, but didn't leave until 9:30. The tour did not disappoint. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and Fun to be around. They insured our safety, and made sure we were comfortable while seeing the sharks and stingrays up close, and the reefs were full of under water wildlife. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. There were young kids on my tour and the guides made sure they were comfortable, even though one of the kids did not want to participate because they felt sick. Worth it!!!Written December 15, 2024
- dawnv5820 contributionsTransport onlyThis was just transportation to Caulker Caye, nothing else. We were not told about tarpon feeding, only how to get to the Split and when/where to meet for the return trip to Belize City.Written November 22, 2024
- Georgenes M0 contributionsThievesI scheduled a tour with Splash Wave Belize for 10am, but they decided to change it to 8:30am the day before without any notice. The only reason I found out about the change was because I proactively messaged them to confirm and then they mentioned the last minute change and claimed they would call me. As someone with a hearing impairment, receiving unexpected calls is a huge inconvenience for me. On the day of the tour, they were 30, then 40, then 50 minutes late, and after waiting endlessly, I finally gave up. They wasted my entire day and simply stole my money. I travel the world and have rarely encountered such unprofessionalism. They simply did not show up to pick me up, didn’t cancel the tour, didn’t notify me, and completely ignored my calls. I’m absolutely disappointed and would advise anyone considering their services to think twice. Save yourself the frustration and choose a more reliable company.Written November 8, 2024

- Z2003PUdc0 contributionsUnBelizeable Snorkeling ExcursionOur guide, Pepper, with Tough E Nough, made this our Mexico Rock excursion bring the phrase "UNBelizeable" to reality! It was super fun for our family! To start, he "let" our preteens think they were steering the boat for a few minutes, they loved that! We learned how to follow the pelicans to find bait fish and then watched Pepper throw out a wide net to pull in dozens at a time. The kids helped with the process and felt like great fishermen. We were then given a snorkeling trip of a lifetime! Pepper was so knowledgeable about what we were seeing and would find things to show us that we would have overlooked, turtles, lion fish, lobster, coral, eel, etc. We also went to Sting Ray City and swam with enourmous rays as Pepper threw out the bait fish. It was more thrilling than the nursing sharks because of the fear factor, but Pepper quickly calmed all nerves and seemed to have as much fun showing us the sea life as we were experiencing it. After thinking it couldn't get much better than that and because he had time, Pepper went out of his way to take us to a sea cave because he saw how we loved to dive with our snorkel gear and then to an area where you can swim with huge groupers! He placed some bait in empty conch shells so the groupers and reef fish would swarm. As we got back into the boat we held up the last of our bait fish to hand feed the frigit birds. By the time we got back it felt like we were having to say goodbye to a good friend. Being there at the end of the busy season was awesome!!Written September 2, 2024
- Ellen M0 contributionsMy second time on this tour was just as good if not better than my first! This was my second time booking this excursion through Splash Wave while visiting on a cruise. I had an incredible time in Jan 2023 and I think this time was even better! Stacey and Mackenzie are so great at what they do. You can tell their passion for the ocean, sea life, and their industry is genuine in the effort they pour into your trip. Safety is always the priority and the hospitality is just a bonus. - O473ZQlisan0 contributionsTERRIBLE TOUR SCAM COMPANIESWe arrived at 9:40 for our 10:00 confirmed tour for my family reunion of 19 people to find out they left us and said they did not have a 10am tour any longer. I called Viator thru TripAdvisor who I booked this tour with and they confirmed our tour, I was told by both Splash wave & TripAdvisor that there are sorry they booked a time that did not exist. We were by the other tour companies there were no other snorkeling tour for today. My family, kids were extremely upset and so we had nothing to do until our cruise ship left 7 hours later. Two terrible companies, scammers, DO NOT BOOK WITH EITHER OF THEM.Written August 2, 2024
- 211thep0 contributionsNot what I paid for!We bought a Sea turtle excursion with this company. They were using a 3rd party affiliate (Shore Excursioner) that I bought this tour through. It was advertised "Sea turtle snorkeling excursion". As we were on the boat headed out to the snorkeling location the guide asked if we were ready to see sharks and sting rays. I said "Sea turtles". She said it wasn't time for Sea turtles that it's their nesting and breeding season. We would have never bought a sting ray and shark excursion with an on the spectrum son for sure! Sea turtles are his thing and the only reason we spent that kind of money. Definitely wasn't what we were expecting, and wasn't what we paid for. Neither company wants to take blame for the false advertising. Shore Excursioner has given us back our deposit but Splash Wave Tours will not return my emails or texts.Written June 22, 2024
- kathleenr340 contributionsDisappointed and mistreated! Do not use them or Viator.DO NOT USE THEM. They never showed up, never called to cancel, ignored the whatsapp texts that were read and kept declining calls made. They cancel if they don't have 30 people booked and if there are no cruise ships that day, then it's a guarantee they'll cancel without communication. After spending hours on the phone with Viator who took no responsibility for this mishap and admitted they were even having trouble reaching them to get an answer, we finally got a vile, unprofessional message from Splash Wave management saying not our problem and take it up with Viator. We never even got paid so they need to deal with it. Viator told me the same thing- it's not Viators problem, it's my responsibility to take it up with the tour operator. Buyer beware. Do NOT use either company. The stress endured while on vacation is disheartening and to be treated this way is unacceptable and unprofessional. I recommend you work with your local hotels to get the tours booked.Written May 21, 2024
- G406GMrayh0 contributionsNot Good. Splash Agent tried to steer us to another person.Last week on the day of my scheduled tour, I was greeted by Splash Wave representative who suggested that my group use the restroom before the tour. When I we returned shortly after, we were informed that the tour was "cancelled" but for a fee, we could take a private tour with another man who showed up. He had no credentials or indication that he was anything other than in on the scam. Stick with your Cruise Ship Tours! Belize is one of the murder capitals of the world and you should NOT enter an agreement with a private operator. This is dangerous. Shame on Splash Wave for promoting these dangerous situations.Written May 14, 2024
- X9786RGbarbaral0 contributionsOvercrowded and Dangerous – not enough life jackets for 36 passengers on their small boat!Overcrowded and Dangerous – not enough life jackets for 36 passengers on their small boat! Hol Chan Marine Park and Shark Ray Alley Snorkeling by Splash Wave Tours via Viator. We typically book independent excursions to avoid large cruise ship crowds. In this case, it backfired. When the group started boarding just two boats, we could see that there were too many people for everyone to find a seat without sitting on top of one another. I asked our guide why there wasn’t a third boat, and she said gas was too expensive. When I asked how many passengers they normally book per boat, she said 25 people. We had 36 passengers plus 4 crew. We were packed so tight that the crew had to step on top of us to complete their tasks and stood in front of us during the boat ride since there was nowhere to sit. Several people got seasick from the hot, cramped seats in the front-covered section of the boat. It was a 40-minute boat ride in rough seas (without life jackets) to get to and from the snorkeling site. After we reached the snorkeling site, passengers were offered the option of life vests to help them float since the current was quite strong, and many requested them. We then realized there was a shortage of life jackets on the boat because they could not accommodate everyone who wanted one. The guide asked if anyone who had received a life jacket would be willing to give up theirs to an older woman who felt she needed one. Fortunately, someone did. To add to the danger of the life jacket shortage, the captain stopped the boat on the way back to the pier because of a problem with one of the engines. When I asked why they stopped, the crew member said the captain needed to check the fuel level. The concern about the fuel may have been a result of the power outage in the city that morning and the inability to pump gas. I’m not sure if it was engine failure or a lack of gas, but we entered the pier slip rather fast the captain lost control of the boat. He shouted that he couldn’t put the boat in reverse to avoid hitting the concrete dock, which he did hit quite hard. Then, the back of the boat swung to the side of the slip and the crew and passengers had to reach out and push the boat from hitting or going under the side of the pier. Splash Wave Tours and Viator need to put passenger and crew safety over profit!Written May 6, 2024

We were told to meet at 8am on Fort Street. We made sure we were the first ones off the boat on the first water shuttle. Unbeknownst to us, we'd be waiting another 2.5 hours for a lot more people who took their time getting to the location. By this time, we were very worried that we'd have time on the island & make it back to the ship by the last shuttle. This made us nervous for the entire day.
Once we left the dock, the water was perfect, the ride there was smooth. Seeing the island come into view, I realized this is the same island that the ship passes when leaving Belize. I had always wondered what it was & how I could get to the island, so that was cool.
Our snorkeling was a guided tour. We are experienced snorkelers. So, it was disappointing that we weren't allowed to experience the reef on our own. It felt like we were being babysat with the strict rules of not getting near the reef without a guide.
The island was mostly nice & the surrounding waters were beautiful. But, behind the restrooms, the island had an odor & there was trash & broken items lying around.
We did order a chicken dinner for $15 extra. The small amount of corn had just been dumped out of the can. When we were finishing eating at the picnic tables, we seen a young boy bringing a steaming pot from behind the restrooms. Since we were curious, we looked back there & seen that the rice had came from a shack/tent. For the rest of the day, I was leary of getting ill from the sanitation practices during that meal.
My recommendations: Be honest with people in the first email about what time they need to arrive. Waiting for 2.5 hours was frustrating for us & unnecessary. Choose sanitary practices with the food.

So, this started out a little rocky, but it was amazing by the end!
We were supposed to meet the tour guide at the cruise ship terminal at 9am. Side note, we stayed in the city and this was not a cruise ship day. By 9:20, I tried to call the tour company, but repeatedly got a busy signal. So, I called our hotel to see if the guide had shown up there... No dice. So our amazing hotel (The Great House - I cannot say enough wonderful things about them!) called the tour agency to find out what was going on. We found out the guide was "running late" and that he would meet us at the hotel. He got there around 9:45 and we discovered that apparently, they hadn't seen our reservation or hadn't realized the day we made the reservation for. They usually only do tours when the cruise ships are in port so that they have enough people to take out. So... We got the option of cancelling, rescheduling (we couldn't as this was our last day here), or paying $100 US more and having a private tour. Man, I am glad we chose the private tour!
Garrett was our guide and was very apologetic for the confusion in the beginning. We finally left around 10:30, but luckily, we didn't have anything else planned for the day, so time wasn't really important to us. Garrett and our captain, Patrick, took us out to Goff's Caye, stopping along the way to point out wildlife and give us interesting facts about the mangroves. When we got to the Caye, it was EMPTY. We literally had our own private island. The only downside to this was that the bathrooms were closed and there were no food vendors there, but Garrett had warned us this might be the case, so he told us to stock up on snacks before we left... And we just had to become one with nature for the bathroom problem.
The Caye is amazing. It's SO small, and it was perfect for our family to just wander around and lounge on the beach. The water was warm and crystal clear.
Once we had spent about half an hour hanging out on the Caye, Garrett got us suited up with our snorkels, fins, and life jackets. We got back on the boat, and Patrick dropped us off a ways off the shore so we could snorkel. Garrett came with us and pointed out fish and coral as he saw them. We snorkeled about an hour, and the current gradually led us back to shore where Patrick met us to take our gear. I've been snorkeling many times in many amazing locations, and this was by far the most outstanding snorkeling I've experienced. You are right on top of the reef, and there were so many different fish and coral species. Garrett even said the water wasn't the most clear today, but we all agreed it was perfect.
After snorkeling, we hung out on the beach for a bit, ate our snacks, and Garrett chatted with us while Patrick got all the gear stowed away. It was very relaxed and unrushed. Everything said and done, the tour took about 4 hours from the time we left to the time we got back.
So, for a less than stellar start, this day turned out to be phenomenal. We are so glad that Splash Wave Tours was still willing to take us out, and Garrett and Patrick were awesome! If everything had gone as planned in the beginning, this would have easily been 5/5 stars. Even with the bumps in the road, I highly recommend this tour!

Was easy to find meeting point and van took us to the dock. Once paid we waited about 1/2 hour for other guests to arrive and then boarded a small boat. The boat was too small for about 10 guests and 3 crew. The ocean was somewhat rough that day and the older couples were nervous in regard getting in the boat. The boat should have been bigger for more comfort since these couples are seniors. Once at the Caye the service provided such as lunch, beverages etc. were excellent. The crew was attentive to the senior people from beginning to end. Of course the Cay is beautiful and the ocean amazing. There are restroom and a changing room. A couple of place to get food and beverages. We had the grilled shrimp with coconut rice, fried plantains and coleslaw, which were very good. Would like to thank James & Marjorie Young for all their attention even before the tour and the crew that made this tour excellent. We even got to see 4 dolphins in their natural habitat on our way back.

Would not book with Splash Wave Tours. Tried to contact them twice before going with zero responses. They were unorganized and Unfriendly. When we got to Belize our questions were barely answered. No one seemed to know or tell us what was going on. When we got to the pier they were not friendly or helpful. We had to wait out in the heat for a long time, then they put us in a boat that the windows were covered and it was like an oven, and they left us in there about 45 min. before the the 30min. ride to the island. The guides seemed like they didn't want to be there. Except the Captain of the boat, he was talking and nice to some of the people, but the 2 women were not friendly. They looked like they didn't want to be there. We asked about a guide for the snorkeling and were told she didn't want to go in the water unless enough people wanted to. So we went on our own. I don't like to give a bad review but they really need to improve the way they treat guests!
The island of Goff's Caye is a small beautiful island. With some clean bathrooms. A covered area with picnic tables where they sold some food, which was ok, $15 USD for a meal. We shared it. Snorkeling is ok, some nice coral, but not much and not many fish to see. Water is clear and nice. It just wasn't worth it!

Goff’s Caye / Venture Ashore (broker)
We’ve never had a more terrifying boat ride in our life. Cigar style fibreglass with foggy broken windows, wooden seating. 33 people crammed inside. High swells and many excursions cancelled but not this one. Many of us looked at the boat and said no way we will all fit - 33 people - and no way are we getting on there. But they did and we did. Every wave was like hitting cement; we were literally bruised the next day. They gave us a lifejacket to sit on or wear, we could decide. The guide laughed, “you thought we were going to sink.” Yes we did. About 40-50 minute torturous transfer to the island. We sat on the island for a while, it’s very pretty and we had fun playing with the island dog. Saw a lion fish off the dock in two feet of water. We got on the boat again to go snorkel. They expected everyone to jump off the side and finally put the ladder in when people insisted. We were told to use our lifejacket as a float, “tie it around your waist”. So we swam with it up around our armpits because the ocean decides … The swells were huge and we were told we were doing a “snorkel float”. They didn’t take us to the nice shallows, rather 15’ with nothing to see but the occasional fish and grey ocean floor. Children were crying in the water and some adults were struggling significantly. We went back to the island and sat around for an hour or so and then bumped our way another 45 min back to shore. Getting on and off this boat six times was a chore. One guy drank so much they had to lift him off the boat. This was far and away, the absolute worst excursion we have ever been on. Ever.

We called the vendor two dss as us prior to our planned arrival to cancel. One of our family members had an injury and we could not go to the resort. So we got our ships staff to help us call Splash Wave Tours to cancel and could not get any help. The lady we tried to talk with had so much noise in the background , from kids or other people, that we constantly had to repeat our comments and ask her to repeat her answers. After thirty minutes of trying to talk with her we thought we had cancelled. But a day later we still had not receive a confirmation. We called again and this time we were told to do it on line
Needless to say we are disappointed in the service. We are so glad we never went to the resort

not impressed with these guys at all. The info didn’t say what time the tour left, and I emailed them twice but they NEVER EVEN RESPONDED! I finally found out I had to be there at 8am, so I woke up super early- but we didn’t actually leave til 10. And I purchased a snorkeling and beach excursion, but they said the weather was too rough and we had to cancel it. Pretty sure that’s a lie because the weather was fine, and I had just gone on a similar snorkeling trip 2 days earlier in the same area. Also I read a review that they did the same thing 10 days earlier- claiming it was cuz they were “out of food and water.” So instead they offered me a river cruise and tour of Mayan ruins, knowing I would accept since I had nothing else to do. They built it up, saying we’d see lots of wildlife (monkeys, crocodiles, etc) on the river. Nope- no monkeys, and just a handful of others. I wouldn’t say I got ripped off, but I definitely would not have signed up for this, and wish I had made other plans.

Absolutely beautiful!! The guides are knowledgable and personable! The island is perfect! It is a coral reef, so be sure to wear your water shoes. The water is warm and inviting with the prettiest colors you will see! We stopped to witness sea cows and dolphins frolicing and learning. I would love to go back and camp on the beautiful island! IIs this an option? We snorkeled in the reef. Life long memory. Thank you for your hospitality. The pic i will post is waht i labelled as "The Portal to Paradise".

What a great time! The staff were some of the most knowledgeable laid back people I've ever met. They made the entire experience fun, knowing where to direct you when snorkeling, and showing you close up the more interesting species living in the reef. The beach is beautiful and filled with interesting shells and coral from the surrounding reefs. Plus the food is a must, affordable, fresh fish/lobster cooked right in front of you ends up being an incredible time.

Staff was very professional and helpful with swimming around the coral reefs. The food was very delicious for having seafood right from the local waters. They made it a very enjoyable time and give great information on all the different fish and coral species.

Regretfully not. They do have some very tasty lobsters that they will negotiate the price on though. There are 2 vendors on the small island that compete for your business.
