This tour and the staff were highlights on our Belizian vacation
We absolutely loved this tour! We had an action packed morning of snorkeling with sea life at the coral reef as well as swimming with sharks and manta rays. We had a classic Belizian lunch that was incredibly delicious. The staff was friendly and took great care of us. My girlfriend was nervous around the sharks and our guide helped her calm down and enjoy the experience. Highly recommend this tour!

          Amazing experience and great guides!
It was a great tour! You get to see a lot of marine life in Hol Chan and the Shark Ray Alley is just amazing. Swimming so close to sharks was exceptional. Our captain T-Rex really made sure everyone was having a good time. The company provided water, Coca Cola and Sprite on the boat which was great to enjoy in the sun after swimming for a while. Our snorkelling guide Raul showed us a lot of wildlife in the water and was great at spotting the different fishes. He also made sure everyone was safe and had the time to enjoy the sight. Would 100% recommend the tour with Tuff E Nuff.

See the reef but don’t book this through Trip Advisor
The trip itself was great. Great guides and the reef is beautiful (it’s dying but still beautiful so see it while you can). I will never again book directly through Trip Advisor. Take a few more minutes and find some local guides and book directly through them. Our whole adventure was almost ruined as whoever Trip Advisor used to book our reservation did not notify the actual company until 5 minutes after our excursion was supposed to leave. They had no record of our reservation until I got the local agent on the phone and she sent the booking info to the reef excursion company. Our boat was made up entirely of other people who had the exact same experience. So find the name of the actual excursion company and book directly through them.

Wonderful snorkeling experience with El Norte.
The snorkeling in Belize is amazing. We decided to rent a boat from El Norte for $300. David and Oscar were fantastic. David prepared ceviche on the boat from conch Oscar found. We canceled our trip with Discovery Belize because of the mustering location on Cauker Caye. There was not way of us getting to Cauker Caye to do the tour. So be careful.

Nice half-day snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve/Shark Ray Alley
I visited Belize in February 2024, and booked a trip with Muy Ono to snorkel the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. JC was the tour guide, and he was great! The water was perfect, and there was a lot of marine life to see. Highlights included a moray eel, views of a couple of eagle rays from the boat, and plenty of nurse sharks and a couple of stingrays at Shark Ray Alley. I would recommend this company. They operate out of Amigos del Mar dive shop. I booked online, but you may get a better price by booking onsite.

Kyle made this first time snorkeler comfortable and kept me safe so I could enjoy the beautiful sights. We will likely do another trip with Amigos Del Mar before we leave.

This is the one to book!
If you're looking for a snorkel tour I highly recommend this tour! It is booked with Amigos Del Mar and they were super easy to find. Two docks down from the main ferry with good signage. Our tour guide, Sayid (sp?) was exceptional. He was friendly, knowledgeable and made everyone feel super comfortable. Overall it was a great experience!!

Snorkel in Hol Chan & Shark Ray
Worth every penny. You just have to do it, you wont regret it. Saeed was awesome and you can tell he really enjoys what he is doing. We saw much more than I actually expected to see. We even saw a huge grouper fish (almost 3 feet)!

An amazing experience. Like swimming in an aquarium. Saeed was a great guide. Saw eagle rays, nurse sharks, the most intact coral I have ever seen and it was spectacular

          Best snorkeling EVER
This is the best snorkeling we’ve ever done in our lives! We saw nurse sharks, sting rays, puffers, hogfish, grouper, crabs, and so much more. We were slightly concerned before going because my husband is not the best swimmer, but he was totally fine (ignore the reviews saying this is really strenuous lol). You have to go!!!

Soup is the man - make sure you ask for him. This was an excellent trip. Soup was funny. We saw a lot of different fish, barracudas, sharks, manta rays, and my favorite, the majestic Spotted Eagle Rays

          Swimming with Sharks
Had a great snorkel session with Big Bird at Hol Chan and then over to shark/ray alley. Gets pretty crowded in Hol Chan, but were able to stay with our group pretty easily. BB found a lot of fish and rays and would swim down to point out the ones that were hidden. Swimming with the nurse sharks was a great experience and then we saw dolphins on the way back to the dock. Great experience overall!

This was my 2nd time to Belize. I took the same excursion both times. Doris and Dave are amazing tour guides extremely informative and very friendly. I was thrilled to see I had them as my tour guide again. The bus ride Flys by with all the information they give you . And the speed boat ride is just amazing to see all the wildlife there. The temples are breath taking so amazing to climb them seeing hearing howler monkeys in the distance. It was impressive no mater what I asked they new the answer. Doris even made sure she found me some Belize money before I left. I highly recommend this excursion

Absolutely amazing adventure! It was about 45 min. drive from Belize City to get to our boat. The boat was big enough for only six passengers and the driver. Take lots of sunblock and bug spray and sunglasses. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the river and showed us a lot of beautiful creatures and took his time for us to enjoy the boat ride. Highly recommend it for bird watching enthusiasts. Once we got to Lamanai he provided us with a water bottle and had time to use the bathroom prior to getting started. Saw a tucán and close up howling monkeys. It was awesome! Plus side no cruise ship that day so besides us there was another group so talk about amazing photo opportunities. The site it self was magnificent but felt that the guide was rushing and lacked knowledge of the ruins. Once we completed the tour we had 20 minuets to look at the museum and shop. Not a lot of time. The shacks there are well priced. Bought a dress and shirt for $20 USD total. I would recommend bringing a snack on the way. It takes 45 minuets to get back to eat lunch. It was after 2pm by the time we made it back. Food was delicious!
Plan on a long HOT day. I don’t recommend it for young children. I know mine would have been complaining of the heat and being hungry. Worth it all in my book just be prepared!

We booked with Carnival. First tender boat from ship. First to the tour guide Elvis. This was an EXTRAORDINARY trip by bus, boat and foot to the ruins. We had heard and read that this guide was the best and YES he was! We had an exceptional tour from the moment we left the pier by bus. Then we boarded a speed boat for an amazing trip into the interior before arriving at the archeological Lamanai site. We loved the history and tour. The lunch provided was delicious, we wanted the recipes. Back by bus to the pier after an amazing day. Best Carnival tour we have ever taken!

Although the bus ride is long and not very interesting, the river safari is worth it. The Lamanai ruins are extensive and include one of the highest remaining towers. This excursion took every minute of our shore time in Belize City.

My husband and I went on our first cruise, and this was our favorite excursion. There are so many to choose from thanks to the ship's offers, so choose wisely! However, we learned that Belize has the second largest Barrier Reef. I would have loved to go snorkeling if I knew that!

Anyways, the trip was long but worth it. It was mostly traveling between walking through the port, getting to our bus, traveling 1.5 hours to our destination, and then taking a quick speed boat ride to the ruins site. The bus ride gives you a chance to take a nap on your way back and goes pretty quickly if you sightsee out the window on the way there. The speedboat is pretty fun. When you return, you can quickly shop on your way back to the ship .. or more like tender since you have to take a boat to your cruise ship.

The ruins were very interesting and definitely worth seeing. You get to climb the highest ruin on the site I believe. It was recommended to bring bug spray, and I certainly agree . However, I did get a tick so beware!

Before you load the bus to return, you get to have a decent lunch at the speedboat stop.

FYI there is wifi on the port.

Also, wear comfortable clothes and SNEAKERS! I thought it was crazy that some people were in flip flops and sandals since it was very clear that we would be doing a lot of walking. You "hike" through the forest for a good 45 minutes.

We have been to other ruins in Belize. These are some of the best. This was an excursion from our ship. It included a boat ride to the site and a small lunch. The park it self was very nice. It had some very nice temples and was a relatively easy walk around the entire site and well paced. Guides were friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend

This may sound petty, but I was impressed by Discovery Expeditions the moment I saw their clean, well maintained restrooms. The excursion was very well organized and our guide, Carlos, stopped the boat whenever we encountered wildlife, which was often. While at Lamanai, we had plenty of time to climb on, explore and photograph the ruins as well as to observe the wildlife that Carlos continued to point out. The howler monkeys were fascinating. Again, the restrooms were well maintained and adequate for the number of visitors to this very large site. After the tour, we were treated to a nice lunch before returning to our point of departure.
