About
This trip is an one hour scenic flight over the Belize Barrier Reef and Turneffe Atoll, and Lighthouse Reef Atoll. Departing Caye Caulker Airstrip. A minimum of three people is required to guarantee this tour if paying individual price. The flight will pass the Barrier Reef, first giving you a great view of the island of Caye Caulker. Second we pass Barrier Reef and deep sea towards Turneffe Atoll. The largest Atoll in the world. More deep blue Sea, before Lighthouse Reef Atoll, with the Blue Hole in the middle. The plane circles the blue hole three times in either direction, providing a full view. The wings of the plane are over the windows, not to obscure any view. The seating capacity is 5 seats total plus the pilot, one person can be the co-pilot. The Blue Hole is 70 miles from the island. It takes 20 minutes to reach the Blue Hole. We take a different route on return in order to show you more beauty of the Caribbean Sea.

Beware, deceptive, greedy, condescending owner. Read the reviews!
Gosh, If only we would have read the reviews on this site before we booked with Tsunami Adventures! We came to Caye Caulker specifically to snorkel at the local reef. We booked the 3 hour Caye Caulker Marine reserve snorkel tour but only received a 2 hour snorkel tour because Canadian owner Heather Martin was greedy & wanted the money for 2 additional last minute cruise customers who positively had to be back in time for the water taxi back to Belize City. I even asked Heather how we could have a 3 hour snorkel tour when the other 2 people had to be back early so as not to miss their ship departure. Heather said "don't worry, you will get a 3 hour tour." The 2 cruise ship customers were ok with their tour being shortened to 2 hours, but we wanted our full time snorkeling and assumed they would take us to another spot after dropping off the 2 cruise guests. Our 2 guides were delightful but very worried about the 2 hour time for the other 2 guests so rushed us through the snorkel stops. The snorkeling was amazing but we were told to get back into the boat even though my husband & I wanted to stay longer. They even took us to the water taxi drop off and told us the tour was over so we should get out! We explained to them we were staying on the island and wanted to go back at least to our starting point so they agreed to drop us off. It was not the guys' fault, they told us they were supposed to do the 3 hour tour with us, but Heather told them to bring the other two back in 2 hours. We tipped them and later that day went back to talk to Heather. We did not request a refund, but thought she should offer some type of compensation. Instead she screamed at us and said it was not her problem, and we should not have tipped the guys on the boat. She said " did you snorkel?" I said yes, and she said then we should be happy. I asked if that was typical to rip people off in Caye Caulker and then she went on another rampage screaming at us about how it wasn't that much money anyway for us to worry about. Later we found out that even though our hotel manager had not referred us to Tsunami, Heather also texted her and told her to never send anyone to her again (not that she did or ever would!) We also heard that Heather may be losing her lease soon...all the better for the legitimate snorkel tours on the island.

    March 2023-Disappointing trip
The positives points of our trip were being in the water with nurse sharks and sting rays and the captain. The Negatives were the late notice of our trip being canceled, less than 30 minutes from when we were scheduled to depart and lack of communication on how the windy weather would impact the current. I have only been to the ocean a few times and have little knowledge about how the wind can affect the current. It was difficult to walk in the water and impossible to swim in it and if we had been told that by this company we would not have gone on the half day snorkeling trip because it turned out to be a waste of money

    Poor communication and overcharged
If you are not staying on Caye Caulker, do NOT go on this tour. There is very poor communication with this company. We scheduled a full day tour and once at the island, were told the tours were canceled due to wind. We were informed via email less than a half hour before, even though they knew we were taking a 45 minute water taxi to get to the island. We were able to take a half day tour, which took only 2 hours. Part of that was stopoingat the seahorse sanctuary ( a 2 block walk on the island). They made us pay for 4 people instead of 3, as "per their policy". Overall I felt that we were overcharged for the while experience.

A flight above the blue hole
The flight was sooo beautiful. We went with tsunami agency and it was incredible. The pilot was so nice and the people in the shop who sold us the tour was so kind and faith. I really recommend it Because it’s a different experience and although it’s a bit expensive, I think it’s totally worth it. You will never forget it.

    Great
We flew above the blue hole. It was amazing. Soooo beautiful. And the pilot was really nice. We also did snorkeling the afternoon with Salvador. Also really nice men and we had fun. One negative point for feeding sharks to make them come.

    Best snorkeltour in Caye Caulker
What a day 🦈🤿! This snorkeltour was the absolute highlight of our trip, definitely go with Tsunami Adventures! This company has the best all-around tours from the guides to the food to the experience in general. The guide was amazing, pointing out awesome facts about the wildlife and corals. The food was amazing, and we even got fresh punch with nachos at the end of the day (so good!!). Would absolutely recommend booking with this company.

    Night Snorkel
With tourism just opening back up after the Covid shutdown, I was having a difficult time finding a tour company for a night snorkel. Luckily, Heather, proprietor of Tsunami Adventures, said she could arrange a trip. We agreed on a price as this would be a private tour and off I went that evening with Rodrigo for a sunset cruise and night snorkel. He was a knowledgeable and experienced guide; we discovered noctural sea creatures including a huge Caribbean Reef octopus, sleeping Green turtle, lobsters and irredescent squid. This was a first and great way to end my holiday in Belize!

    Great snorkeling trip
Great snorkeling and a friendly guide. They provided some amazing fresh fruit as a snack after the 3rd stop on our way to check out the tarpon.

Major Tom was a major success!
They set up a Mayan Ruin and Cave Tubing trip for us. Major Tom, our guide, is a GEM! Oh, what a sweetheart...he really did his best to entertain us on the long rides to each location. Locations were good. The food he git us for lunch was delicious!!! The spot he stopped at so we could get a little breakfast, also yummy. Maybe include the water taxi tixs with price so its one less thing we have to do. My youngest son left his cellphone in the tour guides car and they found it & put it on the water taxi back to us next day. Definitely appreciated their help with that!

    Great experience all around!
I can’t recommend Tsunami adventures enough for visitors to Caye Caulker! We had an incredible time on the full day Hol Chan tour. Rodrigo, our esteemed captain, knew the reef inside and out. He was truly tuned in to our group making the beginners feel safe and finding awesome spots for the more experienced divers. What really sets Tsunami apart is the customer service. Heather puts basically every other business on the planet to shame in terms of her responsiveness and attention to detail. You will feel taken care of and confident from the moment you book. Their prices are consistent with other local shops, but with Tsunami you can rest assured and just look forward to a great time. We saw gorgeous corrals, friendly sea turtles, nurse sharks, and even two majestic manatees. A couple things to note - because you’ll be going into such shallow waters, the boat has to be pretty small. She’ll be bouncing on the waves. Just come prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride and keep your eyes on the horizon. Most of our group had snorkels and fins, but tsunami has equipment available. There a plenty of options and it’s clean, high quality stuff. If you’re thinking of buying anything, get yourself a dry snorkel. Worth it for dives and waves. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! I highly recommend a long sleeve diving shirt. The sun here is strong and deviously creative. You’ll get burned in places you never thought of - scalp burn along a hair part. What?! Anyway, I ramble because I care. These guys work really hard and do a great job. Give them your business and thank me later!

    Excellent all Around
We booked 2 trips with Tsunami. We went on the night snorkel, which we had never done before and saw sea life we have never seen previously, including octopus. We happened to do this under the full moon, which made it even more memorable. I would love to do this again. We also went on an Altun Ha tour, which we enjoyed very much. Our guide from Belize City to Altun Ha and back was a man named Tom Greenwood (aka Major Tom), and we will remember him as much as the Maya site - He is not just a guide - the whole of Belize City and its environs are personal to him and it was a great experience all around. Heather was great to work with and extremely knowledgeable and helpful and all went smoothly all around. Highly recommend Tsunami Adventures and will use them again when we return.

1/2 Day Snorkel = Best Memories
Three girlfriends did a 1/2 day snorkel and had a BLAST. I'll preface by saying - I think *my mistake* was trying to book the tour online ahead of time, and do all the excursions early on in our trip without understanding how far the islands are/lay of the land. We booked for a Tuesday when we were on San Pedro, which we would have had to take ferry back to Caye Caulker - which is doable just not as practical. Once we got to San Pedro, I reached out to ask if we could switch to later day when we were actually staying on CC island. Heather assured us this was totally fine. Everything is so chill in Belize. Rodrigo was our guide. I've never snorkeled before, but quickly got the hang of it. We saw sharks, rays, a MANATEE, lots of fish and coral, then fed the tarpoons. He was so knowledgeable about the fish and sea life. You could tell his heart was the ocean. Please tip your guides.

Wonderful experience of doing the “best of blue” tour which included both the hol Chan marine reserve snorkelling and a flight from San Pedro to see the blue hole. For such a competitive price we were able to see everything we were hoping for - nurse sharks, rays, an abundance of fish and finally the blue hole itself from the sky. There were no other companies at the time of writing this offering such a tour and therefore if on a tight schedule this is great option. Heather (the owner) was very helpful, friendly and generous, providing advice and knowledge about the reserve. We did not go hungry or thirsty either - a great amount of snacks and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were provided. The guides were both very knowledgable and friendly too. We would thoroughly recommend tsunami adventures.

Booked the blue hole tour with them - so easy. Good communication, very laid back, and the tour was excellent! They drive you out to the airport, and the flight goes for just under an hour. It’s truly wonderful.

I decided to ask around town the morning I wanted to do the Blue Hole scenic flight. Everyone said it was full, too late, or not happening that day. But not Jose at Tsunami. He only had one other person who wanted to do the flight so without a third person, he said he didn't know if it would be possible but we were both determined to make it happen. With lots of communication on WhatsApp and in person, and some back and forth calls to the (awesome) pilot, we decided to pay extra to have it just be the two of us. So instead of the normal ~$250, it costed us $375 a person. While that price is insane for an hour flight, it was totally worth it. It was a much more intimate experience. I got to take the wheel as a private pilot and get us to the Blue Hole, and my new friend got to sit in the back and get views from both sides of the plane. Simply an amazing experience! Just keep in mind, Tsunami offers a complimentary taxi ride to the airport, but not one back, so it's best to arrange that before hand or simply bike there.

We did both a scenic flight over the blue hole and a night snorkeling trip with them.

The flight over the blue hole was great. They provided a ride from their office to the airport, and the flight itself was spectacular.

Night snorkeling is an amazing experience I'd strongly recommend, but Tsunami Adventures seemed a bit disorganized. Just little things like no water on the boat, no soap to defog our masks, etc.

I stopped at this office when I got off the ferry, and I am sure glad I did! Heather was super friendly and helpful - she set me up with a flight that day, riding co-pilot! The flight was amazing and definitely a highlight of my time in Belize. Heather was super cool and helpful; I feel very lucky that I stopped there! She made my two days on the island awesome!
