Great tours!
Oct 2021
This was an amazing tour. I learned so much about the neighborhood and all the extra historical details were so interesting. I'd love to do a few more! Highly recommend for both locals and visitors.

Must Do In DC
Oct 2021 • Friends
Magnificent tour with @dcdesigntours starting at DuPont Circle and walking down Embassy Row. I was astonished at how formidably well informed and captivating our tour guide, Carolyn, made the experience. From discussions of the scandalous and engrossing tales of the 1800s nouveau riche to the in-depth descriptions of DC architectural design techniques, I was captivated and impressed at every turn. We ended the tour at the Woodrow Wilson House for vintage games and refreshments in the salon. Such a special experience. I could not recommend this tour enough. I cannot wait to bring anyone visiting the area on one of these tours. Listening to the real life stories of the people who have lived in this historic metropolis forges such a connection that makes being in DC so much more meaningful. Thank you for the unforgettable experience!

Nice informative walking tour through the historic areas of DC.
May 2021
Had always wondered about the history of the Dupont Circle area, DC Design Tours was listed on another local tour guide site, so when I noticed the chance for a private tour I jumped at it.

Our tour guide Sam was on time, and very polite. As with other local tour guides, he was very knowledgeable with all kinds of interesting snippets of information on the architecture we were being shown.

The tour was around 2 - 2.5 hours, we wasn't really keeping time tabs, it was our last big event of the day. Be prepared for lots of info, and a few hills.

At the end of the tour we asked Sam for a few dinner spot recommendations, and he gave us many, we visited two and both were rather excellent.

I'd recommend to anyone visiting DC that enjoys architecture to look into the architecture tour, it was informative and fun.

A+ tour -- can't wait to take another!
Mar 2021
Carolyn was an excellent guide - she really knows her stuff! I organized a private tour for a group of friends that consisted mostly of DC natives (communication was easy and efficient in organizing the tour). Even with all of our existing local knowledge, Carolyn was able to wow us with tons of information on the architecture in the Dupont Circle / Embassy Row area, and on top of that had numerous stories about the fascinating historical figures that occupied the neighborhood in the 19th and 20th centuries. Carolyn has clearly done a lot of research and is passionate about her work - she had an answer for nearly every question we fired at her! I would heartily recommend Carolyn and DC Design Tours to DC residents and visitors alike!

Excellent Covid-Safe Group Activity, Enriching Learning Experience
Mar 2021
Our private group tour with Carolyn blew everyone's expectations out of the water. We were a group of DC natives, but even the most history-oriented among us learned so much about the neighborhood we live in and the cast of colorful characters who used to live here. The tour completely changed my perspective on the buildings I walk by nearly every day. After a year of pandemic lockdown, it was also a breath of fresh air to do something with a group of friends that was both covid-safe and a novel activity. We all raved about the experience afterwards. Carolyn's tour style is engaging and warm and we are looking forward to doing many more DC Design Tours!

Outstanding Tour For All
Jan 2021
This was actually a virtual tour led by Carolyn. She is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of architecture and design as well as history. She is also a wonderful storyteller, and the time flew by. I think she could work with any group-a serious architecture and museum group, a family fun group and everything in between. This was my third virtual tour, and they have all been great. Can't wait to get to DC to tour with her in person.

a really interesting, fun virtual tour. carolyn is knowledgeable and quite entertaining, providing vignettes about the lavish lifestyles and personality quirks of the individuals who built and owned these magnificent homes, in pre-embassy days.

Excellent virtual tour for a large group
Oct 2020
We did a virtual tour due to Covid 19, so we were able to see and learn without coming to DC. Carolyn told great well researched stories about the Embassy buildings including who built them, their architectural style, and who lived there before they became embassies. We had a large group of 39 viewers and we all had a great view and were able to ask questions at the end. Carolyn answered questions thoroughly and kept it fun and informative.

My organization used this as a fund raiser and we made a great profit!

A Fascinating and Fun Virtual Tour
Oct 2020
We went on a Virtual Tour with owner/guide Carolyn Muraskin from Millionaires Row to Embassy Row, from the comfort and safety of our own home. The hour-long tour was so very enjoyable! I know a bit about architecture and Dupont Circle, but there was still plenty for me to learn from her lively and entertaining presentation. During the pandemic I have "gone on" many virtual tours around the world. This was easily one of the best. So, if you can't go to D.C. for one of her tours and you are interested in learning something more about its architecture and colorful history, do consider one of DC Design Tours Virtual Tours.

Amazing Fall afternoon spent!
This is highly recommended to any design/history lover. We loved the mind-blowing history that has born some impact on all our lives, including historical homes of the inventor of the bottle cap as well as Jeff Bezos. Also, the variety of architectural styles represented in the tour was diverse and super interesting. Well done! (Advice: Learn the French names in pristine French!)
