Hollywood was our guide, and he was super hospitable and full of fun historical facts. I loved having the opportunity to enjoy the sites around town by bus, but also on foot. You make 3 stops and have 20-40 minutes to explore the monuments and memorials at each. The sites are just so gorgeous by moonlight. I also appreciated that the buses left early once full of passengers. The check-in for the 7:30 pm departure is actually at 7 pm, but folks were lining up well before then. I think our bus left around 7 and dropped us back off around 9:30 pm. Hollywood took us back to the start, but also drove to nearby metro stops, which saved me a walk. Definitely worth the time and money!

The fresh air, open air trolley , the tour stops and the tour guide / driver / history buff Drew were awesome.
We chose the moonlight tour option in order to jam pack our short stay. It was worth it. The tour driver made three stops , each with approx 15-25 minutes for guests to hop off, see the sights & snap photos (in our case: Lincoln memorial Vietnam & Korean memorial (stop 1), Iwo Jima (stop 2), and MLK monument (stop 3). Be forewarned this is a 2.5 hour tour, so bring a sweater if the night is predicted to get chilly.
Here’s what they could do better: for these earlier sunset times (7:30 in September), they should start the tour NOT at 7:30, but at 6:30… the stop for the Vietnam memorial was pitch black and unsafe for my 10&12yo to saunter off to snap photos or even see the monument. Ditto for the MLK, which was the last stop. The monument itself was lit up but the walk over to it was dark and in an area of trees and hidden corners - again as a mom with two kiddos it was somewhat nerve racking ensuring their safety on those stops - thankfully I had my purse flashlight and cell phone to light the way. You’re
On your own when you walk off the bus. The tour FAQ’s should include the reminder to guests to bring a headlamp or small flashlight for the moonlight walkabout portion.
So keep that in mind on the moonlight tours. However the leisurely trolley ride around the city and the driver hitting most of the oft photographed spots was worth the $!
It goes long tho… we didn’t hop off till nearly 10pm and caught a Lyft back to our hotel.
We would book again!

This tour was great! Mike was our tour guide and he was awesome!! He was friendly, informative, and engaging. We were a large party of 8 and he asked if he could do anything for us at the end of the tour, like drop us off at a more convenient location. He dropped us off at the metro station which was so nice!
Seeing the monuments in the evening was wonderful. We were able to get off at 3 stops and had plenty of time to walk around and view the monuments. Loved riding around the city on the open air trolley. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the city and wanting to see the monuments without all the walking.

This should have been a guided tour to ensure we got to see Monuments, etc. , at each stop. Could not get pictures of the senate or White house. Next time I will select a tour that is more expensive to ensure I get more pictures of this amazing city.

This tour was a great way to learn about the city and see the monuments in the evening. Our tour guide Lucky was wonderful. She kept it fun and informative and shared some of her personal favorites around the city.

Tour was rushed and only 2 hours, not 2 1/2 and certainly not 3 hours. Not enough to enjoy any of the monuments. Our driver, Lucky was clearly not having a good night and almost left some of my adult family members behind, who were returning to the trolley ON TIME. She was constantly scolding people to keep their arms inside the windows (I didn't see who she was referring to) and militant about our time at each stop. We were supposed to have 30 mins at each of the 3 stops, but instead got 30 mins at the 1st, 20 mins at the 2nd and 10 mins at the 3rd. Next time I'll take the Metro and save us the aggravations and money.

FYI we did complain to Old Trolley and they refunded us our money.

We had an excellent Moonlight tour with Mike on 7/16/22 . He had a wealth of knowledge and really brought to life all the buildings and monuments as we went for the tour. If you are thinking of going on this tour, do not hesitate. We are locals and we were hosting family. We enjoyed it as much as our visitors - May be even more!!

The moonlight tour has 3 stops and the FDR memorial and Martin Luther King are so interesting (1 stop). The symbolism as narrated by Mike just brought it to a whole new level and he integrates it with info on other sites like Washington Monument , Jefferson Memorial (which you are seeing but not stopping at ) to really bring it alive.

The Lincoln Memorial stop has 3 things to see (Korean war veterans memorial, Vietnam veterans memorial) ). 30-35 minutes go by very quickly and if you run out of time, definitely come back because these monuments and memorials deserve it. There is also the 3rd stop which is the ww2 memorial .

Our guide also spoke of all the government buildings and museums as we skirted through the city. The detail was fabulous!

We thoroughly enjoyed everything and feel so lucky we had Mikes narration (30 plus years). So thank you !!

The “trolley” wasn’t the typical one you see. It was in fact a large open bus. It was full and very crowed on a very hot evening. Checking in was confusing and we ended up on a 7:00pm bus rather than the 7:30 we had reserved. The Lincoln was over run with all kids of people, scooters streaming left and right, vendors and loud music. Posted signs asked for respect and silence, unfortunately there was neither. The smaller more typical trolley making an additional stop at the Jefferson would be a much better experience.

I toured the DC Monuments during the day 7 yrs ago so on this visit I decided to take this moonlight tour. I was NOT disappointed. Our guide was Kam the Man and the tour was 2.5 hours long @$45 a person. Kam was very thorough, polite and provided plenty of time on and off the trolley to visit and photograph each monument/landmark. You owe it to yourself to see the city light up the night.
