We will meet in the parking lot of the Idlewild Post Office - 812 Essex Drive, Idlewild, MI 49642 - and get situated in my mini van. 5 people can fit comfortably. We will start by exploring Downtown Idlewild, then on to find the 5 markers, storytelling various sites along the way. There are two - three stops that guest may want to get out at. Williams Island and The Flamingo Club have historic markers and a great view of Idlewild Lake. This is two sites in one! We will spend about 5 minutes here then venture onward. The next main attraction is the Idlewild DNR Park which has a great story, and some moderate walking (optional). This site is handicap accessible, however. There is also a bathroom! The next main stop is, the historic Wilson House in Paradise Gardens is a great walking point and has an awesome view of Paradise Lake. Walking is optional for people with mobility concerns. After exploring three different subdivisions of Idlewild, we will return to our starting point, all within 90 minutes (1.5 hr).
Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, there are mostly dirt roads in Idlewild.
I'll have pictures and videos and website links as well as books t-shirts, and souvenirs to sell!
