Del and her team were amazing. We didn’t know what to expect but were blown away by her knowledge of the island, the plant, and wildlife. She was great and made it an amazing day. Would 100% recommend.

A Wonderful Day on Waiheke Island
My husband and I had the best time walking with Lucy from Terra & Tide. We spotted several birds which included an Egret, Fantails, Kereru, Tui with baby chicks and an amazing brightly colored New Zealand parakeet ! Lucy brought us on back trails we would never of found on our own and she helped us identify all the important local foliage. We enjoyed amazing lunch on the beach. On the way back to the ferry, we had enough time to taste local island wine! It was a beautiful day thanks to Lucy from Terra & Tide !

Great tour mixing hiking and wine tasting
We loved this original tour. The lady guide was exceptional. We talked a lot about everything, the local trees and flowers, our families, and our trip experiences. We visited two wineries, and were lucky enough to be hosted by young frenchies (we are french ourselves). Arriving at a winery on foot, walking down to the tasting area, was very unusual. Wines of the second winery were worth it.

      Outstanding Tour
Very professional. Dell was waiting for us at the ferry terminal as promised and treated us to a fully personalized tour of the island. By the end of the day we felt like we were visiting with a close friend.

Del was an excellent guide. She knows Waiheke Island in depth and was very flexible in customizing our experience. Unfortunately one of the wine tastings we scheduled was unavailable at the last minute but Del rearranged things to accommodate that issue.

      Amazing!
Maria was amazing and really made the tour special. She was incredibly knowledgeable about wildlife on the island (especially birds) plant life, and Māori history. My partner and I had an incredible time and she recommended some other activities for us to check out later on in the trip. Could not be more pleased with the experience nor more happy to have met her.

      Excellent tour
We had a wonderful guide, Cindy, whose knowledge of the local plants and animals added enormously to our tour that took in beautiful countryside and spectaular views together with a couple of fabulous wine tastings . Her knowledge of the Maori culture and history also gave us a fascinating insight into how New Zealand is today.

      Incredible walk
We recently enjoyed a wonderful day combining a scenic bush walk with visits to local vineyards, and it was a truly memorable experience. The bush walk itself was a peaceful escape. Justine was incredibly knowledgeable and made our experience wonderful! We learned so much about Waiheke Island. During the walk, we made our way to two nearby vineyards. The wine tasting was fantastic, with knowledgeable wine guides guiding us through a selection of wines. Justine took the best care making sure we were on time to our time slots. It was the ideal day for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy both the beauty of the island and the pleasures of wine. Highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful retreat with a touch of luxury!

My Guided Hike around the Waiheke Island with Terra and Tide
I recently visited the Waiheke Island as part of my solo new Zealand Adventure. As soon as I deboarded the Ferry, I was greeted by my Terra and Tide guide and hike partner for the day Dell. From there we embarked on a remarkable hiking adventure around the island. It was a roughly 5 KM hike, completely achievable by anyone with some hiking experience. The scenic beauty along the way is absolutely breathtaking and it follows you throughout the hike. Dell is very informed, and she constantly educated me on the Maori culture, introduced me to the native plants and bird species. She is also so kind and ensured I was comfortable and safe throughout the trip. At the end of the hike, we had a lovely picnic lunch by the sea and also dipped our feet in the cold and crisp water. From there, Dell took me to have a hokey pokey ice cream, before I took the ferry back to the mainland. This was truly a highlight of my New Zealand trip and Dell truly made it feel extra special. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and getting to spend a day with Dell, learning more about New Zealand, its culture, flora and fauna. Cannot wait to be back and would definitely book another hike with Terra and tide.

      Great Hike and wonderful guide
Justine was an amazing and knowledgeable guide. She quickly assessed our needs and combined our hike with a stop for olive and wine tasting. We really enjoyed both stops! It was simply a perfect and memorable day. I highly recommend this tour if you want to combine some activity with some relaxation.

      Great day on Waiheke
Waiheke Island is spectacular. Our travel agent had scheduled all of us for the 6 mile hike of the headlands. However, when we realized that not all of us would be able to complete 6 miles, our guide Justine made appropriate changes which enabled us all to see the town, have lunch on the beach and have a wonderful day on the island. Justine went the extra mile and more to make sure that all of us learned about the trees of New Zealand and had a good time, within our abilities.

      Waiheke Double Headland Walk
We had two wonderful guides (one in training), both knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, history, environmental regulations and more. Interesting all the way round the Headlands. The 5 hours of hiking was ambitious and our guides watched that we were aware of some “difficult” areas on the path near a cliff or going up/down challenging sections. Overall it was a very worthwhile and memorable adventure. We highly recommend! Jim & Joan

Amazing Eco-Sailing Adventure in the Hauraki Gulf

We had an unforgettable experience with Terra and Tide’s Hauraki Gulf eco-sailing tour. From start to finish, everything was well-organized and exceeded our expectations.

The team’s passion for the environment was evident throughout the journey. The sailboat was both comfortable and eco-friendly, allowing us to enjoy the beauty of the Gulf with minimal impact on nature.

The highlight was sailing in the Hauraki Gulf. The crew shared fascinating insights into the ecosystem and conservation efforts in the area, making it not just a scenic trip but an educational one as well.

We also enjoyed the opportunity to explore secluded beaches and walk through lush native bush and learn all about the native birds of NZ. The whole experience felt personalized and authentic, with plenty of time to soak in the surroundings.

If you’re looking for a relaxing, eco-conscious way to explore the Hauraki Gulf, I can’t recommend Terra and Tide highly enough. This was truly a memorable day on the water!

This is a unique opportunity to combine sailing in the Hauraki Gulf and walk some trails in this magnificent environment. We had a fabulous day out on Pacific Star hosted by Bruce, a highly competent and relaxed skipped and his delightful wife, Gabrielle, with her profound knowledge of our native bird life and vegetation. Their 41 foot catamaran is very well appointed and comfortable and Gabrielle provided us with a delicious lunch on board. An unforgettable experience!

Had a fabulous relaxed day out in the Gulf on Gabrielle and Bruce's very comfortable and stable catamaran with a very congenial group of adventurers. Skipper Bruce is highly experienced and capable and Gabrielle the consummate host. She even got those of us who were reluctant to swim into the water - and very grateful that we had done so. Freshly brewed coffee and homemade cake warmed us up in a jiffy!

Will definitely book a spot on one of their America's Cup trips.

We had a fabulous day out on board Pacific Star with skipper Bruce and walking guide Lucie. Can’t think of a better way to explore and learn about the history and wildlife of the Hauraki Gulf. We dropped anchor in a lovely bay for a spot of kayaking and swimming and then enjoyed a delicious platter in the sunshine. Later we landed on one of the islands and Lucie took us on a short hike where she shared plenty of insights about the local flora and fauna and Māori culture. If you want to learn a bit about sailing Bruce is happy to show you - my dad enjoyed taking the helm for a while and his dream of owning his own Cat has been reignited! Thanks again!

We took a catamaran out with Bruce to Tiritiri Matangi Island. Not only was the island itself an incredible experience but Bruce was an outstanding and informative host. He let us try our hand at sailing, provided excellent food, and was a fantastic companion overall. Had a great time and couldn't recommend this enough!
