Waiheke Gourmet Food and Wine Tour with Heidi
We had an absolutely brilliant day with Heidi as our tour guide. Heidi was so much fun and had great knowledge of the area. Being a local Heidi is very passionate of the island and she has a great relationship with the wineries. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Heidi, she couldn't do enough for us and we would definitely do the tour again with Heidi. Thank you Heidi

      Wine Island, yes please!
Deb Harris is a lovely guide. We visited a number of beautiful wineries and a wonderful lunch at Tantulus vineyard. Deb was engaging and approachable for questions, etc. We loved the Velvet wine at Mudbrick Vineyards the best.

      Flexibility on a private tour
A great day with our private tour guide Janis. A comfortable drive throughout the Island with commentary about the history, culture, nature and, of course, wine. Private tastings at top wineries but the real benefit was Janis’ flexibility in adjusting our tour on the fly according to our tastes and preferences. An unscheduled visit to a private art gallery was the highlight.

      Waiheke GourmetFood and Wine Tour
I highly recommend the Ananda winery tour of Waiheke wineries. Michael, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the island and had direct knowledge of each winery we visited. If you’re coming to Waiheke and interested in New Zealand wines, definitely check out Michael and Amanda Tours.

      Wine tour on Waiheke Island
This tour was very well done and we enjoyed both the wines and the food. Our guide, Michael, was excellent. We especially enjoyed getting to talk to some of the actual winemakers.

      Waiheke Magic
Michael and the Ananda team made this the perfect last day of our month-long stay in New Zealand. We were able to taste some exceptional wines at gorgeous wineries, eat delicious food and meet some lovely people. We also explored many places in Waiheke we would not have seen otherwise. The tour lasted until 3:15 (in time to catch the 4:00 return ferry) but we stayed at Oneroa Beach and caught a later ferry back to Auckland. I highly recommend this for couples or individual travelers who want to experience the dramatic beauty of island life and may not have time to visit other parts of the country. It was a magical day. Thank you again Michael! 💖🍷🎉

      Very good but not Gourmet
Dealing with Ananda was a pleasure in so far as organising tickets, pickup and drop off, including a great driver with lots of knowledge of the island. All the winery stops where wonderful with good explanations of the local wines. I was disappointed with the lunch stop. We stopped at several wineries which I think would have been a better option for a gourmet lunch than where we ended up. That being said I do not know if they use the same facility or change it around. If you have a chance to stop awhile longer in town, take the opportunity.

Awesome tour, great Wineries and local knowledge
The half day tour with Michael was awesome, he drove us around the island giving an interesting commentary and stopping off at scenic lookouts as time allowed. He was friendly and knowledgeable. We visited 3 lovely wineries where we did wine tastings and had a lunch platter and glass of wine at Stony Ridge. I would highly recommend this tour :)

      Excellent wine and food tour
An excellent way to spend time on Waiheke Island. The three tastings we had were a good variety of wineries from small organic to larger ones and the wines were all very good. The lunch platter was very good with plenty of food. The tour included a nice mixture of wineries and exploring the island in a very comfortable vehicle. Our guide and driver, Michael, was professional and very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. His experience and personality really made this a great day. I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing tour around the best vineyards Waiheke has to offer. Our tour guide Steve was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional.

We booked the tour during the week, got great discount and it was only two of us.

Lunch and one drink is included. Very delicious and generous meal portion in stunning restaurant right on the beach.

I highly recommend the tour to anyone looking for a great wine tasting experience while exploring the island from the comfy airconditioned van.

This tour is well worth it, great group and a great tour guide. We thoroughly enjoyed the local knowledge and history of Waiheke, along with the lovely wines that we tasted. It was a wet rainy day yet the best event to do on a wet day. Steve our local guide was truly amazing and we dont say this lightly. You could see the great relationships that Steve had with the vineyards and we were well taken care of. Mudbrick and Kennedy Point were two of my favs. Lunch was absolutely spectacular, definitely topped off the tour leaving the best for last. The other 10 people on the tour all agreed. Due to the nasty weather we did have 5 ladies on the same tour that could have gotten stuck on the island and Steve went above and beyond to find out and assist where he could. Nothing was too much trouble for Steve, awesome guide. We highly recommend this tour company, you wont be disappointed!

We had a wonderful time. We were fortunate to have Michael guide us around. He was really friendly, and super knowledgeable about wine and all things Waiheke. We visited a few wineries where he had clearly built some strong personal connections, and we were able to learn a lot about wine making. It was a super pleasant day, and a highlight of our time at Waiheke!

This was our last full day of an 18 day NZ tour and we arrived 30 minutes early for our tour. We found our guide, Simon, outside the ferry terminal and were welcomed warmly with his wonderful wit fully on display! We visited three wineries and were regaled with knowledge and personal thoughts throughout. The wineries, their staff and the wines were spectacular but the true highlight of this experience was Simon! His humor and candid comments made this a very special day. The meal at the end of the tour was a nice finale to a beautiful experience.

Although our guide Simon is not a Kiwi by birth, he has lived on Waiheke Island for 19 years and provided us with a lovely day. As he drove around the island, he provided us with commentary about the history and life on Waiheke.

For our wine tastings, he selected three vineyards. Two stood out. Kennedy Point is an organic vineyard. In addition to wine, this vineyard produces olive oil from their grapes. The olive oil was quite good and several people bought some. Our vineyard guide was quite clever in telling us that a bottle of the olive oil will fit in one of our shoes to transport home.

The owners of Casito Miro, the other interesting vineyard, love the artwork of Gaudi of Barcelona. They have created their vineyard with many Gaudi-like design elements. When we arrived at the vineyard, there were place settings with wine flights for each of us.

Finally, our time in Waiheke ended at Three Seven Two, a lovely restaurant facing the beach. Simon offered to drop us off anywhere on the island before he brought us back to the ferry.

Know before you go: It is necessary to book your ferry ride to Waiheke Island separately through the ferry company. The boat ride takes about 45 minutes. For the tour, we needed to take the 10 a.m. ferry. We got there very early. Closer to the departure time, there was a really long line. However, the ferry boat is quite large and there were enough seats for everyone.

What a delightful day on Waiheke Island! We will share your kind words with Simon too. Ending the day at Three Seven Two overlooking the beach is always the best way to end the day. Thanks for the heads-up on ferry booking – early birds get the seats and we are always happy to assist with ferry arrangements. Cheers to a pleasant Waiheke experience and thank you for sharing your lovely review and for choosing Ananda Tours. Nga mihi | Thank you, Jenny and the Ananda Team

Everything was so incredible! From the moment we alighted off the ferry at Waiheke island, our guide (Simon) was waiting for us. He was extremely friendly and welcoming, which was very reassuring and appreciated as a solo traveller. Simon is a local resident of Waiheke and was very familiar with the history and sights of the island. As we drove to different wineries, he also showed us the gorgeous sights of Waiheke and would tell us about the residents and culture there.

I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I thoroughly enjoyed trying different wines by different wineries. The hosts at each winery were also very friendly and knowledgeable about their craft. They told us a lot about the wines we were trying, how they're grown and made, how the local weather might give them a good or bad batch, and so much more. The absolutely stunning views that the wineries had was an added bonus to the experience.

The final lunch was very well planned with a little bit of extra time given to us to walk (or swim!) on a black sand beach just outside the restaurant. I would highly recommend the seafood options!

All in all, I felt that this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience which I am so grateful I had. I came out of the experience with new friends, and so much more appreciation for wine and the art of making it. I cannot stress how highly I would recommend this to anyone visiting Auckland or Waiheke.

My wife and I did our own 'self drive' tour of Waiheke Island as we had a rental car while in Auckland. I'd recommend this to anyone especially if you enjoy wine, gourmet food and great views. It does not take long to drive the island but there are many places to stop both for views and wineries. A great day trip from Auckland including the ferry ride to/from the island.

Well organised, and good choice of 3 small wineries with good or excellent wines, I would have liked a bit more time at each tasting but not at expense of fewer wineries. Schedule a bit rushed by deadline to meet 16:00 ferry return because 4 participants had to be back on board their cruise ship by 17:30 latest. Otherwise could have been a bit more relaxed. Excellent lunch at 372 Onetangi beach.

Hi, Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed the wines and the lunch! Sorry you felt a bit rushed. Usually our guides can be a bit flexible if needed and often as if it's possible to go back on a later boat if need however as you mentioned he was trying to get some of the other guests back who needed to be on the 4pm ferry. I'll talk to the guides at our next meeting about how they could handle this situation better in the future as we certainly don't want our clients feeling rushed.

Easy way to enjoy a day on Waiheke Island. Right off the ferry from the city we met with our driver and joined a small group in the van. We visited three wineries: Mudbrick, Goldie and Postage Stamp (Obsidian) as well as Restaurant 327 at the beach. Pace was relaxed and we were fortunate to have good weather for the amazing views back to Auckland. Recommended!

Our Waiheke wine tour was one of the highlights of our NZ tour. Our tour guide Andrew added to the experience with his intimate local knowledge of the area. We felt well looked after and not hurried.
We visited 3 wineries on the island but Mudbrick Winery was by far the standout for us for its outstanding views and delicious wines. The setting was beautiful and felt authentic with its topiaried olive trees and colourful perennials planted throughout.
Mark, from Mudbrick added to the experience with his obvious knowledge & love of wine.
Our thoughts on leaving Mudbrick was we wished we could have stayed on for lunch!
