About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- gatorkam0 contributionsVineyard strollSpent the day on Waiheke with our tour guide Justine. Beautiful weather and the scenery was a 10 out of 10. Justine took the time to inform us on the plant and animal life and was super fun. We did two tastings and we really enjoyed our tasting at Mudbrick and finished with a picnic lunch at the beach.Written January 14, 2025
- Nomad041682524830 contributionsTruly Memorable! The island is inspirational. Our guide, Justine, helped us understand how the native plant species are returning over the last 40 years, how great efforts are being made to eliminate non-native predator species in order to better protect native bird and other animal species, and how the various communities of people on the island volunteer their time to make this possible. No better way to learn about these things than walking along the paths through the bush and along the beach. Justine also paid very close attention to our interests and our needs during this journey, ultimately making every difference in the world for making this day truly memorable. We highly recommend this tour, and specifically our guide Justine, from Terra and Tide!Written January 13, 2025
- Escape429831500030 contributionsBest Shuttle serviceA group of 12 spent Friday 10th Jan 2025 on Waiheke - Gabrielle and her team from Terra & Tide were fantastic. From the pre-booking info all the way through the event it was smooth and effective and they made the day special. Gabrielle and her team have huge knowledge of Waiheke Island and shared this with our group of adults and teenagers. We highly recommend for getting around the island and will be back to use the shuttle services again!Written January 12, 2025
- H4858QZsarahy0 contributionsUnforgettable day in the gulf!We had the most amazing day sailing in the gulf! Gabrielle and Bruce were terrific hosts. They were so knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and history of the gulf. They are passionate about conservation and have insight into all the conservation efforts in the area. Their love for their home environment is contagious. We loved the bush walk and learned so much. We saw many native birds and learned about the forest regeneration efforts. We sailed, snorkeled, paddle boarded and hiked. The lunch was delicious! I would highly recommend this tour! Booking and communication were easy and the day was unforgettable!Written January 10, 2025

A relatively easy hike with beautiful views and two lovely vineyard stops. Fantastic jet lag buster and very highly recommended.Written December 29, 2024
- Fearless059828338600 contributionsSuper Fun family bush and beach walk experienceThe bush and beach walk was an absolute blast! Our guide, Cindy, was the best. She was incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and shared a wealth of information during our walk. Keeping the kids in our group engaged was a huge achievement, considering their ages. The picnic sandwiches were delicious, and the transportation was very comfortable. Waiheki is such a beautiful island. We’ll definitely be back and staying there next time to fully immerse ourselves in its natural beauty. Overall, it was a fantastic experience for our entire group. We highly recommend it!Written December 28, 2024
- U9307EYjulies0 contributionsGreat full day of hiking and wine tasting! We really enjoyed this tour both for the beautiful views and the wine tasting. A highlight however, was the olive oil tasting at Allpress. We actually had a number of olive oils shipped home. Justine was a wonderful tour guide, both for her bubbly personality and knowledge of the area. She also worked hard to make sure that the tour was everything we wanted including making sure that we tried a wine that may now have been on our list, but was something I wanted to try.Written December 27, 2024
- jessesM5839IK0 contributionsA personalized tour to remember. The ladies were very knowledgeable. I felt they took us to places such as an Art Gallery and vineyard where others could not take us. They listened to us in designing the tour and cared that we enjoyed the experience. We have no reservations in recommending them for the design of a personalized tour.Written December 24, 2024
- Erik J0 contributionsFun mix of activity and tastingWe had a great time on the Bush Walk & Wine Tour on Waiheke Island! Our guide, Robyn, was outstanding — knowledgeable, adaptable, and fun. - kathyoS5553GP0 contributionsFabulous day of touring and wine tasting.Dell was the BEST guide we could have asked for. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly, informative. Dell knew so much about the history of Māori and of the island. The day we went it was raining but because of Dell it turned out to be a fantastic day. I highly recommend this tour company and definitely ask for Dell!!!Written December 16, 2024
- Roving668126073390 contributionsGet away and relax on this track and beach tour on WaihekeI had a great time with Lucy walking the trails and beaches. The walk fit my pace, and Lucy even lent me some trekking poles for the moderate downhill for my aging knees. She described the birds and trees so that I could appreciate the best of the island. The trip included a tasty sandwich and fruit at a picnic table at the beach, and a stop for gelato on the way back to the ferry. Sign up now for a great day out of Auckland!Written December 13, 2024

Low tide so we couild walk along the beach to start our headlands tour. Justine was our guide and she did a great job. By the time we fished the first headlands walk we were exhausted, so Justine found a cafe where we had lunch and then took us to a winery. So overall a great day. If you want to walk both ends of the island (double headlands) then be prepared for a good 5-6 hours of hiking with significant elevation dhange. Fantastic views of the gulf on our hikWould highly recommend Walking By Nature

I had the opportunity to do the Double Headland Coastal Walk - it was an amazing trek through local bush as well as opportunity to see stunning vistas, both across the coast as well as inland.
My guide was a joy and made sure I got the most of the out walk and tailored it based on my interests.
I would highly recommend this walk for anyone who likes hikes that are a little challenging but also offer unforgettable sights.

My family and I did this tour on our second day in Auckland and had an amazing time. The island is absolutely beautiful and our guide, Tracy was very knowledgeable about the island, nature, and wildlife. She was so sweet and made the experience very enjoyable. The walk itself had some hills but was very doable (I wore jeans and was fine). Nonetheless, the tour can be customized based on the needs of the group. Overall, we all had a great time and would definitely recommend!

Our guide, Tracy with Walking by Nature did an excellent job!! She shared history of the island, guided us through trails on the Headland Coastal area, through forest trails, and several beaches. She was very knowledgeable about life on the island, birds, trees and plants. We visited the Mud Brick Vineyard, and had our lunch on a beautiful beach in the village. She customized our trip for our interests and abilities. We definitely recommend this tour and Tracy, as our guide!! Ann and Charlie from North Carolina. USA/

We recently did the walking tour with Tracy and had a great experience! Everything ran on time and the walk was exactly what we were looking for. We got some good exercise in and also learned a lot about the island. We did a few hours of walking in the morning, followed by a delicious lunch on the beach that we picked up from the supermarket on the island, and then a shorter walk in the afternoon. Absolutely recommend regardless of your fitness level, as the guides will tailor the tour to you!

As one of the first things I decided to do after the lockdown, Waiheke was on top of the list. After searching a bit I found Walking by Nature and I decided to book this walking tour. The whole process was pretty straightforward!
I had the pleasure to have Gabrielle as my tour guide. She took the time to explain to me things that otherwise I wouldn´t have the chance to know - I think that makes the difference because it gives you a different perspective.
It was an amazing experience, the landscape is just astonishing! I highly recommend them!

The walk was hosted by Cindy who was very welcoming on arrival at the ferry terminal. Her local knowledge was very useful for choosing the best paths for the group ability and weather conditions on the day. There was plenty of interesting information on the history and geography of the islands together with a wealth of knowledge of the native plants and the efforts made to regenerate the island‘s forests.

We agree! Our local guide, Cindy has an extensive knowledge of Waiheke and the surrounding islands. Our beautiful island is tucked into a rather unique spot here in the Hauraki Gulf and we often hear back from guests like yourselves how much they've enjoyed our island's history, native bush and amazing birdlife. Cindy will be so glad to hear you loved your tour!

We really enjoyed the stunning views and bays of Waiheke isl. Tyler guided us during the walk and shared her great knowledge about the beautiful nature. Towards the end of the hike Tyler got us a nice lunch so we got our energy boosted for the last hills to a beautiful 360* view of the island.

Really enjoyed our time w Justine. She came prepared w walking sticks for us (we’re 65 & 63). The weather was a little iffy but she allowed us to do whatever we felt comfortable with so the excursion ended up being a great experience for my wife & I.

This was our first stop on our honeymoon in New Zealand and our guide was Maria. I had done a lot of research on New Zealand and was really wanting to know more about the island of Waiheke. Maria was incredibly knowledgeable about all the animal and plant life and the conservation efforts for the island. This tour was a true highlight and she truly made this a magical experience as our introduction for New Zealand and it's ecology. It was truly unforgettable!
