Disembark into the magic of morning birdsong, look for penguins on the shore or in nesting boxes, and spot some of the rare species that call this island sanctuary home, including the South Island saddleback and bush robin. Follow the well-formed track to the island’s summit to take in the sweeping views across the Sound to Cook Strait.
You’ll have approximately 2 hours to explore this natural paradise before the relaxing return boat ride.

Dolphins, a boat ride & walk
Travelled with this company on my birthday. Did the Furneaux Lodge drop off to Punga Cove walk. Beautiful scenery & lovely walk. Staff very pleasant & helpful. They even arranged some dolphins on the way back (just for the birthday girl!)

      Water taxi, not sightseeing cruise
This turned out to be a 3.5 hour water taxi ride. There was no time to get out anywhere. We did not meet any residents. The seats were not the most comfortable if you were going to be sitting there for any length of time. Most seats are inside, and the sides are high. As a short person, I could barely see out. The captain was kind enough to lend me his seat cushion so I could sit a little higher. There were two benches at the back, but most of that space was covered with suitcases, boxes, bags, etc. And four people had already snagged the remaining space by the time I got on. The only commentary came at the first brief stop. After that, the captain and the one crew member really had to focus on getting us quickly and safely from dock to dock. There was no time for commentary. The weather wasn't great, and a storm was predicted to come in, so we had lots of stops and lots of people getting on who had not made reservations. I have lots of pictures of docks but not much else. It should just be advertised as a water taxi, not as a sightseeing cruise. This was the most disappointing activity on during my trip. All the staff were very nice and did their jobs well, but this was not what was advertised or expected.

      Worth the experience
Overall I’ve given it a 4/5 as stunning views of sound and lunch at Lodge beautiful; awesome choice; awesome locale; service etc. the desire is they drop you off at around 11.15 and collect at 3:15pm which is a LONG time if weather not good for swimming or your not wanting to go for a walk from Lodge. I would not go in this tour again because of that fact only.

      Great experience and quality company
We walked the QCT and used Cougar Lines to transfer our luggage each day. The whole experience from start to finish was perfect and seamless. All the staff from the booking office to the boat driver were fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. We would highly recommend this Cougar Lines and will definitey use them again.

No regard for bikes and rude staff
I booked over the phone. We arrived early to checkin and i was told i had booked wrong pass and that i had the wrong tags (the checkin lady had just given them to me). It was chaos - you would think they do this everyday and had things sorted. As it turned out we had correct bookings and tags. I had little faith my bag would be dropped off as arranged at this point so i took some gear out and carried extra gear with me. We were very very disappointed that the bikes were all just stacked one against the other without any protection and one rope securing about 20 bikes. They rubbed together and my two week old bike got scratched. We estimated there was close to $100,000 worth of bikes and absolutely no care or responsibility was taken. i stayed with my bike as a damaged derailer would be the end of the trip. Waves were crashing up over the back of the boat and the bikes were covered in salt water - not great for bike parts. We were due to arrive at ships cove at 9.15am and were 25 minutes late as we zig zagged through the sounds from one side to the other dropping people off. the late arrival was a bit stressful for some people who had a tight time schedule already. the good news is my bag did make it to the destination. The bad news was the trip back was more horrific than the trip there. We had two people and two bikes booked (and our ticket showed this). We were waiting on the jetty with our bikes for pickup. The skipper then came out and growled at us saying - oh you have bikes. Well, isnt that obvious i thought. he growled and huffed and puffed and dragged the bikes on the boat. they dragged our bikes on with jammed them in. they were a safety risk blocking the exit. so much so, that hubbie stood by the rear and felt totally unsafe. Really disappointed that this company transports bikes often and doesnt even look after them. And i have scratches on my new bike to show for the incompetence.

      Great service
Used them to pick us and our tandem kayak up in Ship Cove at the end of our 6 day sea kayak trip. They arrived on time (a bit early even) and the crewman helped me carry the kayak to the end of the pier, which was appreciated because it's a long pier and even empty it's a heavy boat. They took time and care tying it securely to the deck before we headed out rather than rush of to the next stop. Because we were the first stop we got to see all the coves and inlets we didn't go into on our paddle out as we dropped people off and picked others up on the way back to Picton. The skipper was an afable guy and told me a lot of interesting things about the area too.

Fun way to see the bay.
Just what I was hoping for. Sit back and enjoy the scenery. Staff were pleasant, informative, a fun few hours exploring the coves and inlets.

Just go and enjoy the beauty!
If you don’t go out on the Sounds then you won’t understand how pristine and uniquely beautiful this massive Marlborough landscape is. The delivery cruise is a great way to achieve this. Professionally managed and a pod of dolphins feeding were a bonus!

      Fabulous experience from Picton
Fabulous afternoon dropping off and picking people and items around beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. We were also lucky enough to see a large pod of dolphins who swam alongside the boat.

The staff at Cougar Line particularly Lois in the office and Lindsay (boat driver/pilot) were superb and accommodated changes requested by us with a minimum of fuss.

      Transfer and luggage service
We used cougar line to take us to and from the Queen Charlotte Track. The also took our luggage to our first night hotel and picked it up for our return. We only did 2 days of the 4 day walk due to other commitments. The luggage transfer worked really well. The ferry ride to the track was good with some local commentary from the captain as well as a short stop to see some dolphins. For the return journey they were an hour late to pick up, which they apologised for, however we did make it back to Picton at the scheduled time.

A beautiful and interesting cruise on a working boat
It was a great trip delivering goods to different places with a very personalised commentary once the Queen Charlotte track hikers got off our boat.

Fantastic trip out to Motuara Island, boat left early so we had plenty of time to explore the island and experience the amazing wildlife. Fantastic views and lovely wee walk. Then caught the boat to Ferneaux for yummy lunch and another boat home. All boat trips were great and interesting stop offs at other bays also. Very well organised, all staff friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and love to go again!
