About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kevin B0 contributionsCrossesGuide was very good. Kept all of us interested during the trip to The Hill of Crosses. Worth a visit as probably won't see again.Written November 15, 2024
- Trek557785512860 contributionsHills of crosses TourFabulous little half day tour. Easy pick Up, nice mini bus with phone charger and tinted windows. Knowledgeable driver with English spoken throughout. Some good photo opportunity stops… would definitely recommend.Written November 11, 2024
- Raul270 contributionsNice day trip from RigaVery comprehensive itinerary and lovely and friendly guide. It’s a small van, so not a large group and we beat up our schedule pretty much every large bus with tourists after us. The Rundale palace is stunning definitely worth visiting . Same with Bauska and the hill of crosses is definitely an interesting place. Overall nice experience and a good way of ticking 2 countries in one day. It’s not such a long day either we were back by 5pm.Written November 9, 2024
- ESTravellerLittle0 contributionsHill of crossesA bit of a depressing and crumbling place. Definitely a meaningful place for deeply religious people. Rather not for visiting with with fickle children.Written October 18, 2024
- lindabaagoe0 contributionsValue for money. Great tour guide and beautiful sightsGreat day trip with our amazing tour guide, Janis! We were only three people on the trip, so we talked a lot about the Latvian culture, country and history, and Janis kindly shared his deep knowledge of everything. He even made an extra stop at Jelgava castle, as it was just on the way, as he said. I took the trip with my 14 year old daughter, and we both enjoyed the trip, the sights and the company. When we talked about the Riga Black Balsam, and heard that we have never tried it, he actually pulled over on a bus top and took out a bottle and served us a little taste of the “black gold”. Highly recommendable tour and tour guide!Written October 15, 2024
- 905abigailm0 contributionsWonderful addition to our Riga trip. Our guide was wonderful and made the trip really enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable and provided fun facts throughout the trip. The Hill of Crosses is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Riga, the car journey was a couple of hours but the Latvian and Lithuanian countryside was just stunning. We were back in Riga early afternoon so we still had time to explore the city. We had plenty of bathroom stops on the journey and a chance to pick up some food for the ride.Written October 12, 2024
- KayIsa010 contributionsHill of crosses..is a must visit.Thank you Krista for the wonderful experience. Hill of crosses is very special. It's a pilgrimage that gave me goosebumps. When you visit this place it will made you remember those loved ones you've lost. The other 2 castles were worth visiting too. Thank you Krista for the memorable trip.Written October 7, 2024
- 483kajsaa0 contributionsHighly recomend! The hill itself is much bigger than expected and you have to be there to really be able to take it all in. the guide was amazing and made extra stops for us by an old castle, that is now a school, and also by the border to Lithuania so we could have some pictures. Highly recommend this trip and especially with this guide who went the extra mile to make the trip as much of an experience as possible for us!Written September 29, 2024
- saleheen h0 contributionsWorth the moneyExcellent friendly well informed host. Started on time. The hill of Crosses is a visually striking spot and definitely worth the visit. The castles were beautifulWritten September 28, 2024
- danielgV5170QT0 contributionsInteresting tour, except hill of crossesWe had this tour from Riga yesterday.? It was a comfortable van and our guide entertained us all the way. First stop was in Jelgava palace, which was built by architect Rastrelli for Kurfuind herzog Biron, favourite of empress Hanna. Today is agriculture university of Latvia. It is very beautiful building. Second stop was already in Lithuanian, where is famous hill of crosses. Honestly I didn’t like this place. If something is too much, it is digressing the original idea. Then we came back to Latvian and had a tour in Rundāles palace, also built by Rastrelli for the same owner, as a summer palace. This incredibly beautiful place with very interesting tour through your own mobile device and your own headphones. Nice renovated rooms with great collection of art, furniture, dishes, clocks and accessories. Impressive place. There is also tour in manicured French park of the palace. On the way back to Riga the last stop was in Bauska castle museum- restored medieval cartel were we had to climb up many steps to get to the top of the towers where incredibly impressive panorama view opens on the two rivers flowing around this castle. One of them called big river. We studied the place around., in yard of this place periodically happen festivals of traditional music, dancing and costumes. After these exercises to climb up and down a lot of steps, we are tired and happy, came back to Riga.Written September 26, 2024
- LadyMonika0 contributionsExcellent nature walk, a must-do in RigaThis trip was the highlight of our stay in Riga! We got to learn so many interesting facts about Latvian culture and history and the walk itself was wonderful. It is truly a gem worth exploring and I highly recommend going on this tour! Our guide, Krista, was more than welcoming, she was really flexible, told us many interesting stories and gave us plenty of pieces of advice about where and what to eat and drink in Riga. Thanks, Krista, for a lovely day! ❤️Written September 25, 2024
- markpN6705ES0 contributionsExcellent tourVery well organised and friendly tour with excellent guide, Krista. Hill of crosses is unique and strange. Rundale Palace magnificent, gardens too (could have done with another hour there with perhaps less time at H of C) and Bauskas Castle extremely interesting too.Written September 21, 2024
- Curiosity608817930060 contributionsLatvia through the agesOur guide Krista was very knowledgeable. She provided interesting information about all sights and Latvia in general. She allowed for additional stops like Mitau castle which was on the way but not on the official agenda. She is a proud Latvian selling her country very well. The sights are very interesting. The Hill of Crosses is a very beautiful spiritual experience (I am Catholic). Rundale Castle is probably one of the few Rastrellis accessible for Western people. It has a very rich history on its own. I spent 2 hours fully concentrated in the Palace and garden. Bauska castle was the finishing top. I think they have restored a little bit too much. However, it is nicely situated where two rivers meet. Pity I have not seen it in its full autumn glory. All in all totally worth it.Written September 20, 2024
- MrPCTheFlaneur0 contributionsUnfortunately cancelled, but tour operator arranged an alternative trip.Tour was unfortunately cancelled due to low participation numbers (2ns week of September seemed to be in the down-season). However the tour operator did endeavour to get me on an alternative tour, where I went to Lithuania (Hill of Crosses, a Baroque palace and a Medieval castle).Written September 19, 2024
- ReCe150 contributionsReally nice day trip with a great guide! We really enjoyed our day trip to the 3 locations! Our guide/driver, Jānis, was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about all the sites as well as Latvian/Lithuanian history and treats. :) Time just flew by!Written September 15, 2024

Me and my partner visited Latvia at the weekend and were greeted by the lovely Krista who helped us have the most incredible day with our husky experience and the memorial tour! She was so friendly and had so much knowledge to share.
We couldn't recommend one of her tours more highly! - Thank you again.
