About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Paul H0 contributionsExcellent guideErlens, or ‘Elvis’ was punctual, polite, knowledgeable and generally an excellent tour guide. He had a very in-depth knowledge and was able to answer any questions we had. We would highly recommend using him. He took us to a wonderful cafe on the return trip back. It was cosy with excellent refreshments.Written December 2, 2024
- J5674FWcynthial0 contributionswonderful and memorable day tour with ErlensMy sister and I along with 4 nice Colombian guests were so glad that we have chosen this tour and to have Erlens as our tour guide and driver in his clean and comfortable black Mercedez van. He was very professional, attentive and conveyed a lot of information and history not only about the tour but also Latvia itself. The tour was not rushed and we were given enough time to visit each site included in this tour and he answered all our questions (from 6 women!). He even went out of his way to stop at the cat house in the old town for a photoshoot before dropping my sister and I off at our hotel. The group indeed had a lot of fun together and at the end of the tour, we had an unexpected toast of this great herbal liqueur which was icing on the cake. The tour is totally worth it. I would highly recommend this tour with Erlens.Written October 20, 2024
- GrandTour422104747270 contributionsExcellent, relaxed tour, with knowledgeable guideWe had an amazing experience with Erlens on this tour! The trip was not rushed at all, allowing us to fully enjoy each stop. Erlens was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the regions and the history of the sites we visited. He was patient with our questions and provided fantastic recommendations along the way. We highly recommend this tour with him—it was a perfect blend of learning and enjoyment!Written September 20, 2024
- saran36000 contributionsA “must” do!Erlend was our amazing guide for this trip. He was so full of knowledge and shows us the best stuff. Got a lot of time to take photos. Would recommend this to anyone going to Riga! Would do it again 😊Written July 10, 2024
- allyb1140 contributionsBrilliant dayThanks for a fantastic tour out of Riga city. We really enjoyed getting to see other places nearby and hear more about their history, as well as try some traditional local food. Thanks to Erlens for a really fun and informative tour.Written May 11, 2024
- MAP12160 contributionsVery worthwhile.Such a beautiful day! The Hill of Crosses is a very worthwhile side trip from Riga. Not just for a gathering perspective but also historical and cultural experience. Erlens was a well educated and gracious guide. He shared lots of information and answered many questions on the drive to Lithuania, and provided great explanations of the Hill once we arrived. He allowed us ample time to explore, photo and pray while we were there. The side trips along the return were welcome and fun! His minivan was very clean and the small group (max 8 ppl) made it easy to chat amongst ourselves and with Erlens. I would definitely recommend this trip to visitors to Riga and Latvia who seek more than just a city break.Written April 8, 2024
- GCC250 contributionsThis tour was fantastic!I thought I had already written a review, but I don’t see it. I had such an awesome time, I had to leave a review! Erlens was phenomenal from the moment I met him until our parting at the end of the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area. He was a very careful driver. He even opened the car door for me (that was a very pleasant surprise! Such a gentleman!) He was flexible and adjusted the schedule when I told him I hadn’t spent much time in Riga and I was leaving the next day. He gave me tips about the Riga and even pointed out some of the sites in Riga on our way back from the tour. The Hill of the Crosses was an amazing experience. Erlens told me the history of that area. Since I was a solo traveler, he offered to help me take some pictures so they wouldn’t all be selfies. I cannot say enough good things about this tour and about Erlens. I read all the reviews about this trip. That’s why I chose this particular tour - the reviews were glowing! This tour lived up to the excellent reviews and I’m glad I took this tour!Written March 29, 2024

A special shout out to Erlens the tour guide - had incredible knowledge of the local area and was an overall great guy. Happily answered all our questions and went above and beyond on our tour. From personalized insights to unexpected detours to a local cafe, they made the journey extraordinary.Written December 8, 2023

- Richard S0 contributionsA great trip with a great host!I booked this trip just prior to travelling out to Riga. Due to flight delays, Erlens was in constant communication with us and offered the flexibility to move the trip to another day should we have not arrived in time which which was reassuring but we were able to stay with our original schedule. Pick up was prompt and professional where we were greeted outside our hotel by Erlens. He made us feel at ease immediately, what a genuinely nice guy. Once on the mini bus we were two of four people that day so it really felt like more of a private tour. Erlens gave us a running commentary on the way to The Hill of Crosses and we learned so much about the history of both Latvia and Lithuania. Erlens knowledge is vast and he articulates / delivers this exceptionally well. We had a quick stop at service station along the way enough time to grab a fresh coffee and snack. The Hill of Crosses was an amazing place and haven’t seen anything like this before. The history and stories and around how this became what it is we’re just as humbling. You can purchase all manner of sizes of wooden crosses and scribe a personal message on there to leave along with the many hundreds of thousands that currently reside there; a nice personal touch. On the way back we stopped at the border signs between Latvia and Lithuania for photo opportunities then continue on to a nice place called Jelgava where we did some further sightseeing and stopped at a nice cafe near the canal which did some very nice pastries and local food. I’m so glad we did this trip as it provided a little insight into Lithuania during our Baltic trip but what we learned from Erlens during that trip was superb. If we had longer in Riga I’d have definitely booked another trip (preferably with Erlens) and will definitely be using it he same tour provider again if we come back to Riga. From someone who has done a lot of travelling and a lot of yours, I can highly recommend Erlens. Great experience and great memories, priceless.Written September 19, 2023
- O6496VSmargaretf0 contributionsWonderful, fantastic and caringI booked my private grand Riga city tour through Latvia Guide Tours as I was having problems trying to book a private tour. I was lucky enough to find this webpage and emailed Erlens and he was able to help me. He organised a driver and tour guide. I explained to him that I had mobility issues and could he advise the people conducting the tour. What a wonderful time I had as Victoria and Julia couldn't do enough for me making sure I was OK. They took me to the most wonderful places and Victoria gave me a full history of the places we visited. If you want a wonderful tour or private tour I would recommend Latvia Guide Tours, you will not be disappointed as they go out of their way to make sure see the tourist sites and take really good care of you.Written September 16, 2023
