- 1Pavilions There are five different food pavilions at Riga Central Market dividing meat, vegetable, dairy, fish and gastronomy products. The merchants will offer typical products locally used for a long time as well as some new and fresh flavors of Latvia. Having the widest assortment of Latvian food, all products are fresh and natural from Latvian farms for competitive prices with the possibility to bargain. There you will find some unique foods and spice to be found nowhere else in the world! We recommend to try the taste of: Hemp butter Rye bread Fried lampreys Sauerkraut Kvass Honey Salted and dried mushrooms Outdoor area In the outdoor area you will find stalls and stands with a variety of fruit, vegetables, garden plants and flours as wells as small kiosks selling a wide range of souvenirs, clothes, perfume, knitwear, amber jewelry and many other goods. In few minutes walk from the Central Market you can also find historical warehouses - Spikeri from which only 13 are survived to the present days. Central Gastro Market There is a new section of the market featuring over 20 different caterers and 2 bars with a wide choice of street food, starting from some local Latvian dishes to burgers, pizza, ramen, thai food and other foods. It is guaranteed to find something for everyone's taste. The atmosphere in this section is a bit different and more modern than the distracting hustle and bustle of the traditional vendor stands.

- mikehoward69930 contributionsGreat place to visit from RigaWe loved our day visit to Sigulda. It was around an hour by train from Riga. Such a pretty town, spotlessly clean and very quiet in Feb but plenty to see and do. The Lutheran Church looked a picture infront of the frozen pond with clear blue skies above. The Livonian Castle was interesting with great views across the valley to Krimulda Manor and Turaida Castle. Plenty of places to get lunch and a drink. One of the prettiest railway stations I have seen and lovely and warm whilst we waited for the train home. If you want to go outside of Riga this is a great choice.Written February 16, 2020

Reachable in a few minutes by tram from downtown Riga (No.7). Composed of 5 pavilions in addition to the external square. Frequented by residents of all ages to shop. Products of all types including meat and fish counters. In a small part there are various pavilions where you can eat local food and not. At lunchtime there are also many tourists. Very close to the Jewish ghetto. If you have time is to see

No doubt this place will get ruined by mass tourism but it’s hasn't yet. There are plenty of modern places to eat and places selling beer. At the moment there is still enough of the old traditional markets combined with the newer stuff to make it worth a visit.
Throughly recommend for a visit, wandering inside and out before lunch and a few beers

Large, diverse range on a large area. Food, food of all kinds, fruits and vegetables, textiles, botanicals and simply everything you need for daily life and beyond. Just sometimes interesting to look at. Compared to other Unpacked in Riga, not necessarily the most important.

Riga Market is a must-see on a visit to Riga. It is located just outside the old town, along a small canal that immediately dives into the Daugava. Inside the ancient hangars where the airships were produced you will find stalls of all kinds: from classic souvenirs to small fast food, counters dedicated to confectionery, cheese, honey, cold cuts and much more. I noticed how even locals visit it to buy fresh produce to take home. Taking a walk to even look around is the least you can do!

The central market in Riga consists mostly of the old hangars where hot air balloons were built - now marketplaces for fruit - vegetables - meat - fish and clothes. Many restaurants are in the area!

Great for getting to know the real life of Riga. Various pavilions that were once used as hangars for airships. Each pavilion has its own theme: fish and typical products, clothing, objects for tourists, etc
