About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- corneliaa4460 contributionsMost moving experienceWe travelled overland with Intrepid; from Helsinki to Vilnius. Many suites impressed me but here I was moved most, when I saw this hill full of many thousand of crosses . I had tears in my eyes and thought when I die; I would also like some one to put a cross here in my memory. What a lovely idea.Written July 28, 2024
- 820ievam0 contributionsWorst company everThe worst company, I would never recommend working with them. Very rude and disrespectful to foreigners. Can't communicate in English with letters.Written May 15, 2024
- Limavady550 contributionsNot disappointed just crossesCombined fabulous driver and informative guide Andrius an interesting side trip to the Partisan Memorial Park (a memento cross for Ronald Reagan!) the Hill of Crosses itself not very high or far to work an extraordinary experience that will linger in the mind for ages Pope John Paul II (“half my heart belongs to Lithuania”) really put on the map this collective expression of homeland, artistic expression and religious resistance to oppression. Definitely worth the journey.Written May 5, 2024
- N9545SVcs0 contributionsHad a wonderful timeThank you for the tour. I didn’t have a background of Christian history so the guide helped me understand the background. The guide also introduced us to the restaurant where we can have a delicious Cepelinai. Written March 5, 2024
- izakarijagrkovic0 contributionsFaith and defiance in the face of oppression. Inspiring! The trip was fascinating! We learnt so much about the history of Lithuania from our guide, Adam. The day was well planned, with regular breaks and plenty of time to enjoy the sights. The only problem was the cramped transport (personal car), which for a full-day trip was inappropriate.Written February 16, 2024
- stevengW6082AB0 contributionsDiscover Lithuania - ExcellentI used Discover Lithuania for transportation to and from the airport as well as the Hill of Crosses tour. Adam was the guide for each of these excursions, and he was personable, professional, and fun to be around. It snowed the day of the Hill of Crosses tour, yet Adam navigated the heavy traffic and uncertain conditions with patience, and a sense of humor. I had a very early flight on my last day, and Adam provided me with a couple of breakfast bars, as he knew it was too early to get breakfast at the hotel. What a classy and considerate move by Adam. I highly recommend Adam and Discover Lithuania.Written December 6, 2023
- joannehH9968YB0 contributionsBoring tour and rough tour guide! We were told that the meeting point on the day was the bus stop next to the bell tower, but intact, it should be the opposite of the bell tower, I think this is very misleading. When we tried to point out this, the driver guide's behaviour was rough and brash! The whole tour he was showing of rashness, he doesn't show any interest in what he's doing. It seems like he didn't enjoy the job and just wanted to rush off.Written October 23, 2023
- rosario3080 contributionsA UNIQUE SIGHT TO BEHOLDMore than 100,000 crucifixes on this hill. A sight to behold- unique attraction with crosses of different sizes, designs, material (about >2 centuries) . A Catholic Pilgrimage site. About 2.5 hrs from Vilnius. . Apparently, there’s lot of history from war & uprising for hundreds of years. I had goosebumps as I walked through thousands of these crucifixes.Written October 8, 2023
- Acceb970 contributionsInteresting dayInteresting day, enjoyed learning about it and had a good time. There is a shop onsite if you want to buy a souvenir or drinkWritten October 4, 2023
- Lana19670 contributionsVilnius to RigaI don’t really want to say any thing bad about it.., but would i recommend it, probably not, hill of crosses was nice, the rest not enough time. Drive Adam was very nice.Written September 23, 2023
- Dreamer3032900 contributionsTravel from Vilnius to Rega with great sightseeing. It is a very good option not just to travel from Lithuania to Latvia, but also the opportunities to visit attractions - the Hill of Crosses, Rundale Palace and Bauska Castle. It is recommended to those who would like to travel from Vilnius to Rega and at the same time wish to visit the place of interest along the journey.Written September 20, 2023
- SWNH0 contributionsGreat Tour CompanyWe booked two private tours with Discover Lithuania -- the Riga to Vilnius sightseeing transfer and the Paneriai Memorial Park, Trakai Castle and Kaunas Tour. Reda, who handled our bookings, always promptly replied to our email queries and the booking process was quick and easy. The prices were very competitive. The tour logistics were flawless. We were picked up and dropped off on time. The cars were clean and comfortable. The best part were our guides. Andrius and Adam were wonderful guides, completely fluent in English, knowledgeable about history, politics, flora and fauna and fun to be with. You can't go wrong booking with Discover Lithuania.Written September 4, 2023
- mooits0 contributionsExcellentSuper comfortable way to get from Vilnius to Riga—with stops on the way that make it more interesting. Driver was great, the program was enjoyable... Couldn't have thought of a better way to travel between the two capitals!Written August 3, 2023
- michael s0 contributionsGood tourGood tour. Our guide was early and took us promptly along the planned itinerary. We enjoyed the various stops. At the final stop at bauska castle he gave us a quick guided tour and we were on our way. This is a nice way to transit between Vilnius and Riga while also seeing sights in the countryside and learning about their culture.Written July 17, 2023
- Al K0 contributionsSobering experienceFirstly I would like to thank Adam for being a wonderful guide and a true gentleman. The hill of crosses is a sobering experience, nothing like it. Well worth the visit. Also stopped off in a memorial park dedicated to a founder of lithuanian freedom.Written June 28, 2023

I would have given this tour 4 stars, but for the fact, we had a horrible tour guide. He was on his phone constantly, drove fast, speeding past points of interest, and consequently letting us know he was done at 5, so we better hurry.
We complained to the tour company, and we got back an "I'm sorry, the guide is no longer with us," and that was it. We paid good money for this tour, and it was ruined by this guide, and the tour company really didn't care
I can't recommend this tour company, as they don't seem to care about customers.

Dear Karen and Collette,
Thank you for taking a time to review on Tripadvisor. We really apprecciate your feedback as it helps us to continue making improvements that Discover Lithuania’s tours meet the high standarts that travellers expect.
We are sorry to hear that the guide was not your liking. Each guide has their one style and personality, which we encourage them to express on their tours. It makes the tours unique and interesting, but unfortunately, their personal tour style not always match all the guests’ tastes.
After one month of the tour we received your email with the complains that the tour guide did not speak well because of his sore throat; he provided „the quantity of information, which was difficult to absorb“, he often asked to many questions and so on. We promptly responded to you with sincerest apologies and explanations (the tour as itself has very busy schedule, so that’s why the guide should provide such a deal of information). We informed you that we would not available to provide you the complementary comments from the guide’s side, as he is not working in our company anymore, but we definitely will discuss it with other team members, as it should never happen again. We feel very upset to read that you've found an answer incorrectly.
Again, we are trully sorry that you had this experience and hope it did not spoil your vacation in Baltics. Best regards

First stop was at a sobering memorial to victims of the holocaust, Panerai Monument. Andreus once again provided lots of historical background.
Trakai is a pretty town in a lake area. The castle was a nice museum.
