Our tour guide, Sylvie, was an absolute delight and incredibly knowledgeable. She was able to make it interesting and fun for our entire group...three kids, two seniors, and two adults....not an easy task with such a wide age range. They were able to accommodate us on short notice and we are so glad it worked out. One of the highlights of our time in Budapest. Highly recommend!

Petra our guide was amazing. We spent four hours seeing the sights of Budapest. Petra worked at our pace and was incredibly knowledgable. We started the day knowing very little about the city but by early afternoon had a great overview of the different areas, key historical events and key landmarks. We enjoyed every minute and would thoroughly recommend.

We visited Budapest in October 2018 and wrote the following review. Hopefully, we can return soon for another of their great tours.
Great Budapest Overview Tour
We had a Danube River cruise with a three-day extension in Budapest. Although the river cruise had a 4-hour group tour of Budapest scheduled, we wanted to see more of the city. Most group tours of bigger cities are spent on a bus in traffic trying to get to the sites only to be surrounded by hundreds of other tourists.
We have never had a private tour before but after reading the reviews, we contacted Anita at Budapest Locals. Based upon her very prompt responses and suggestions, we booked the Overview Tour. Our guide, Barbi, met us at our hotel very eager to show us her city. As we had seen many sites on the Buda side on the group tour, she adjusted, and we stayed on the Pest side. She showed how to use the transit system which saved us time and walking to the sites. We were able to see many places previously missed such the Szechenyi baths, Vajdahunyad castle, seeing Budapest from the Basilica dome and the Strudel House. It was interesting listening to the history, life in Hungary and her passion, cooking.
We were able to spend the next day using the public transit on our own to explore the river district and shopping at the Central Market again. Thanks to Barbi, Budapest is now one of favorite cities. Our only regret is that we did not have time for another tour. We highly recommend any of the Budapest Locals tours and Barbi as a guide.

Bridgit was a superb guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and well spoken, we (two of us) spent a morning with her and it was great fun as well as informative. We got a good insight into Budapest as it is now, with plenty of historical and contextual background too. Bridgit went beyond the call of duty as well, and helped us understand how to buy metro tickets etc. at the end of the tour. Highly recommneded.

Had a great tour with Andi! The communication between us and the company was very good (and comforting) Andi was on time and outlined the tour prior to leaving the hotel.
Her knowledge of the city and its history was excellent, she was easy to understand and she was very eager to show us her city.
I would highly recommend this tour, worth the money.

Gabby was our tour guide for the Pest side of Budapest and she was absolutely amazing. We saw everything from Hero’s square, Vajdahunyad Castle, the Opera House, Parliament, and the shoes on the Danube. We sampled local strudel and climbed to the tower of Szent István Bazilika. She was charming, engaging and extremely knowledgeable. We begged her for a second day tour.
We absolutely recommend. We are a family of 6 with two 70 year old grand parents and two teenagers. A+ visit

Me and my boyfriend visited Budapest for the first time so we decided to look for a tour guide.
We had the best time with Bridget! The tour was very interesting and tailored to our needs and wishes! It was a perfect mix of history and interesting facts. We saw all of the major parts of the city. Bridget also recommended taking an evening boat tour, which we did, and it was awesome! We definitely recommend Budapest locals to everybody.
And everybody should definitely go to Basilica’s tower. It has an amazing view!

Our tour with Barbi was actually 8 hours and it was amazing! She showed us the top sights, taught us how to use the public transportation, and we tasted some fantastic food.
It was our first day in Budapest and it really set the tone for the rest of the week. Barbi answered all of our questions and gave us a lot of history.
I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to experience Budapest like a local!
