- bu6700Unique Tour in BudaA friend from England recommended that we take this tour. It was fascinating and I recommend it to anyone that does not have any mobility issues.
- A2613EMcb00A very good tour but if you don't like going up ladders it might not be the best tour for youVery good. Wear non slip shoes as the floors are wet and if you dont like ladders maybe think twice
- lucabX8567IR00Very niceThe guide was super nice and even gave us a great recommendation on where to go to after the tour had ended. The caves were very beautiful. Would definitely recommend! Tip: bring something warm like a vest with you cause it’s cold.
- Shannon G00So much fun!Me and my boyfriend went on our second day in Budapest and it was such a good decision! We had an amazing time the tours were well organised and was absolutely worth going with the private group for English speakers, our tour guide was Peter and was very friendly and happy to answer all questions, amazing views of the city when we exited the caves and the caves themselves were breathtaking!
- Zoe C00Fun experience! The guide was very informative and funny, I can’t remember his name but he made us feel safe and reassured throughout the walk. There were some steep steps and a lot of walking between the 2 different caves so make sure to wear walking shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a little bit of mud on
- Chasandshaz00Amazing CavesHad an amazing tour of the caves with a wonderful guide, Peter. A lot of walking involved so wear comfortable shoes! Beautiful rock formations and our guide gave a good commentary about the caves and was also friendly and humorous! A pleasant temperature underground. Would thoroughly recommend a visit here.
- lynne R00Highly recommendedLovely tour taking in not 1 but 2 caves. Keep looking for the little bats. A lot of steps but very worth it.
- gemmamayc00Amazing Cave Walk TourAmazing experience took so many beautiful photos and we had a great tour guide who was very entertaining
- James G00Beautiful caves and very polite, funny and knowledgeable guideWe opted for the English tour and was guided around both caves by Adam who is very polite, funny and knowlegeable. The caves are very pretty and can be easily walked through on mostly concrete walkways. There are some steps and one steep ladder, but the whole place is well lit with handrails so is perfectly safe. I would suggest this for anyone with no previous cave experience, or who wants an easy, casual look through a well lit, well presented cave. Anyone looking for a proper adventure should seek the adventure caving experience which looks like it would represent a proper challenge (head torches, hands and knees-type stuff!) Chatting with Adam at the bus stop after our tour, we learned he is a volunteer guide. The fact we didn't realise this during the tour just shows how genuinely interested and enthusiastic Adam is in both tour guiding, and the cave geology itself. He made the visit very enjoyable indeed. If I return to Budapest I will without doubt be booking the adventure caving experience with the same organisation!
- DrT195000Pretty good tourWe took the English speaking tour and the guide was an expert caver so had a good deal of knowledge about caves and spoke good English. The caves were user-friendly with good pavement and handrails almost everywhere. Going from one cave to the next involved a one mile uphill walk. A shuttle bus would be a good idea as it was very hot outside. The first cave had lockers for personal items but the second cave did not. The easiest way to get there and back is by taxi which is about 11 euros each way.
- 649dhapat00Unforgettable ExperienceWe decided to go caving underground and weren’t sure what to expect. We loved it! Our tour guide was knowledgeable, experienced and helpful throughout. He shared his personal & professional experiences, gave clear directions and answered any questions that we had. We appreciated this experience, and recommend it! Read up on what to expect before you go so that you are fully prepared. Don’t go if you don’t like dark and small spaces.
- DrinkAllTheBeer00Unusual, active, and great fun!A friend and I attended the caving during mid April, and both really enjoyed the experience. It's a bit out of the way of public transport, so we had to take a taxi to get there, but it's a cheap trip given that it isn't very far from the city centre. On arrival we were greeted warmly, and given the overalls and equipment to wear over our clothes. After this we were taken to the caves, and started crawling around. Our guide was brilliant - she was knowledgeable, fun, and probably the closest thing I've seen to Spiderman in real life. The caving isn't particularly physically intensive. There's a little guided climbing, a fair amount of walking, and a lot of crawling. The holes are mostly quite easy to fit through, although some can be a squeeze (there was one I couldn't fit through), but there are alternate routes for them. All in all, it was brilliant fun, good value, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Budapest.
- Kristinannebarx00Fun and awesome experienceThis was an awesome experience. The guide was very funny, helpful, and fun. It was awesome to try something new in a new city!
- Antti S00Adventure tour so worth it.Skip drinking and start caving. This tour is so much fun to do. You have a good exercise and you even learn a lot doing it. Definitely worth participating.
- PriyiaR00Would definitely do again! Our guide, Eva, was lovely and very funny. The caves themselves were definetly a great experience. If you're looking for picturesque caves with crystals etc.,this might not be the caves for you. However, there are quirky features to these caves!

An amazing and insightful activity in Budapest that is an absolute must do! 2.5-3 hours is correct and I would say a reasonable level of fitness is needed as we climbed, crawled and pushed ourselves through smaller and smaller holes and gaps throughout the labyrinth of caves. Our guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, sharing geological information about the cave systems as well as random facts and some of Hungary’s history along the way. As a group of 9, we bonded quickly and communication was needed as we described the next stage to the person behind us. All in all, I would highly recommend this activity and would very happily do it again. Thank you!

This was incredible! We got to explore the caves beneath Budapest in such a fun way and our tour guide Lazlo was fantastic - really funny and he had lots of interesting facts and stories to tell us about the caves. He encouraged us through squeezes and climbs throughout the tour, and made us feel very safe the whole time. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something exciting to do in Hungary!

This was my first time to ever do caving, and this was truly brilliant. The guide we had, Lacko was funny, very knowledgeable and made the tour really fun. It definitely challenges your fitness levels and would definitely recommend doing it if your not claustrophobic.

Fantastic experience, first time, and my sister and I had so much fun.
We even had a dance party! (Not part of the official tour).
Eva, the tour guide was great and very patient with us all, we could not have had a more capable guide.
Very very recommended.
Photo is of Eva demonstrating correct wriggling technique before some tried the same mouse-hole.

The tour is great. Not for young children, claustrophobic, hysteric or over weight persons.
During the tour we had to crawl, climb on some rocks and pass through some very narrow cracks.
The guide was a professional and knew the cave so well he didn’t need a flashlight (although he had one, like all of us)
It takes a bit of physical effort to go through some parts but you don’t have to be in a great shape to do it.
The teenagers liked it a lot, the lady demanded a foot massage as a compensation.

We had Lajos (apologies if mis-spelt) as our cave guide and he was amazing. The caving was great and the guide assessed our ability really well and engaged us with interesting facts. One of the best experiences I’ve had in Europe definitely would recommend otherwise would not normally leave a review.

Great guide. Glad they keep the numbers to each allocated tour group small as it is more physically demanding than the average tourist tour activity. Larger groups would slow down the tour, ultimately meaning you would see less.
I was able to store all my baggage in safe locker room as I had to travel straight to airport after this tour. Worked out perfectly.
As others have said, definitely recommend for those that are more active and nimbler. I loved it.

A powerful experience that will leave you with a number of temporary bruises and an eternal memory.
Our witty, experienced guide, Laszlo, turned an otherwise purely sporty event into a fun crawl.
I would definitely recommended this for people looking to spice up their visit to Budapest and definitely wouldn't recommend this to anyone with a considerable beer belly unless they want to spend the rest of their lives stuck in Budapest's cave system.
As it gets more slippery the further you go, wear shoes with a rough sole that you don't mind getting muddy and don't wear too many layers.

This was such a memorable experience, with challenging and enjoyable moments throughout. The history and sights are wonderful to take in whilst climbing your way through the caves. We had the friendliest tour guide Laszlo who took time to remember everyone’s names and made sure everyone was comfortable. There is a really rewarding feeling after doing this, I would recommend to everyone.

This was the coolest thing I’ve ever done! Almost might’ve been the most nerve racking lol we had such a wonderful time exploring the caves. Anyone doing this should definitely be ok with crawling, climbing, and going through VERY narrow/tight spaces. Its a lot of team work and you really get the chance to bond with your group members. We all grabbed a beer at the little pub on site afterwards. I’d highly recommend this activity for people who are adventurous and looking for a once in a lifetime experience.

Where would be the best place to stay in order to do this experience in November please? I've never been to Budapest before. Myself and my partner are looking to come for 3 nights. We'd like to do the caving on a sat but have a night out in town in the evening and a look around the sites. Maybe a spa visit too on the friday or sunday. Thanks in advance

As the previous TripAdvisor said: If you're located near the river, then the extensive public transport system will readily get you there (we were there for a month, and each of us bought a 1 month pass- then jumped on every train, tram, bus, metro or ferry; without any question).
We stayed in a AirBnB, near the Budapest 'Eye' (a huge white ferris-wheel type structure), and it was perfect (again, cheaper when we booked for the full month).
The caves were an absolute delight, quite unique to our previous experience. We did a 2hour tour. The recommended age range was 14-55, but my boy & I did it easily (I'm 63, and he was 10- but both moderately fit. Neither of us play competitive sport, but we cycle & walk regularly, and eat healthy). My 10yr old felt it was a snack to do, and he'd immediately follow on the heals of the guide, through every portion of the course. For me, there were some challenging moments, but the guide was very helpful, informative & quite funny. Neither of us had ever done caving before, but we heard such good reports, so we did it. I'm so glad we did. We highly recommend it. (Back in Australia, my boy often proudly wears his "Caving under Budapest" t-shirt).

Can I bring my 10year old, very healthy son with me? Is there an age limit?
I know that the longer 3-4hour tour has a 14-55 years age limit?
But what about the mid-range tour?
Thank you

I've previously posted a report on our experience. I thought that the 14-55 range applied to the 2 hour tour (but I may not have the details clear in my memory).
As for the 2 hour tour, I would heartily recommend that you & your fit 10 yr old, 'go-for-it'. My boy is a bit taller than the average (australian) 10 yo boy, & he's confident. So he & I simply presented to the ticket person, bought tickets & went along. There were no questions asked. (I was 63 at the time).
They supplied a 'jump-suit' to wear over your clothes, which covered us adequately. Although the caves are 10-15oC, you certainly won't be cold, coz your increased activity will generate internal heat.
Consider whether you wish to take a mobile (for photos) or not. No doubt photos of you in the caves would be great, but you probably won't get 'post card' quality (coz the team is on the go). And the risk of getting very fine dust on (or in) your phone, may deter you from taking it (they warn you of this).
For us, now we're back home: we took no photos; & so we just love to relate the story, my boy wears his "Caving Under Budapest" shirt everywhere; & for our slide night we included some pics that I grabbed from their publicity on the web. Everyone (back home) is more than happy with that, coz
they know you're with a team of tourists (maybe 5-10), so shots of 'others' in tight spots seems normal, & it still brings "ooohs" from your "holiday snap-shot" watching audience (coz they know that you too did those tight spots).
