Perfect transit to see what's between 2 world famous cities
Dec 2019
We wanted so badly to find a way to see what's in between Budapest and Vienna without having to rent a car or watch it whiz by on a train. Enter Sidetrip Tours with Andi and Tomas! This was a highlight of our trip as we made several stops at castle ruins, a palace, and a couple of cute towns that were finishing up their holiday season. I absolutely loved Sopron, with it's many visible layers of history. A fascinating place we would have never known to check out. We learned so much about the history of the region and got a wonderful sense of what lies between the two great cities.

There were 5 of us tourists, all English speaking, on the trip plus the guide and driver in a van, so it was very comfortable to ask questions.

One way day trip from Budapest to Vienna
Such a great day. There were 6 of us in the tour. One couple and family of four. The tour guide Andrea was so passionate and full of knowledge that she enjoyed sharing with us. It was impressive to learn about the extensive examination process the guides go through to become a registeted tour guide. She was very considerate and conscientious that we had a great experience, checking in if we were tired or wanted to hear more talking from her. Her endless effort from start to end left a big impression on us. Easily the best tour experience we have had.

Don't overthink it!
Oct 2019
Recently traveled to Europe to explore a bit before reaching our ultimate destination, a soccer match in England. A buddy of mine booked both this sidetrip (Budapest to Vienna) and the next one from Vienna to Prague. I really didn't know what to expect but was completely blown away by the experience. Our host Andrea and driver Thomas were friendly, knowledgeable about the history of Hungary, and accommodating for our entire group (only 4 of us). We made 4 well paced stops, all of which were interesting and engaging. If you are making the same journey you simply cant do better than to book this company.

Great way to spend a day not just travelling but learning!
Sep 2019
Andrea was our guide between two amazing cities on our itinerary. It was not much more than a coach or train, and the difference paid was WELL worth it for all the history of Hungary. She was so knowledgeable about history and culture, as well as offered to personalize the trip according to the amount of time the group wanted to spend in each town, what types of info for her to elaborate on, etc. Never would have been able to see each of the sites at the intermediate stops by train.

Exploring the less trodden path
Jul 2019 • Couples
This is an amazing idea we found on the internet. Instead of travelling by train/coach from point A to point B, you get the chance to explore beautiful towns/villages on the way. They provided a spacious van and the group was small (4 passengers in this trip) which made the tour relaxing. Our guide was Csenge on this trip who was absolutely amazing. She gave us a good overview of the history of the towns. We sampled local wine and food with her as well. The tour was well paced and relaxed. We reached Vienna by 7 in the evening. They are reasonably priced and we did another trip with them. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommend this tour to get you from Budapest to Vienna. Our guide Csenge was fantastic. A great way to see some of the towns and sites less frequented by other tourists.

Excellent way to travel between Vienna and Budapest
Jun 2019 • Couples
This trip was a real find! We were looking for a way to get from Vienna to Budapest and came across this. It turned out to be a great way to see some off the beaten path towns and villages. The guide (Naomi) was very knowledgeable and had the enthusiasm of a friend wanting to show you all the best parts of each place! The driver was very courteous and punctual at every stop. Overall excellent service and a day well spent discovering hidden gems!
