About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- TravelinMom1380 contributionsDo this tour!We did the Ruin Pubs, Street Art and Cool Spots tour, and highly recommend it. Atilla was a wonderful, personable and knowledgeable guide, and this was a unique was to see and learn about the old Jewish Quarter of Budapest. He showed and explained a wide variety of street art, from large "official" murals to unsanctioned graffiti. Learning about the meaning and context of the art, and about the artists themselves, gave us better insight into the history and culture of the neighborhood and of Budapest. We also liked having a chance to enjoy a drink at a ruin pub and talk with Atilla and other guests on the tour. And Atilla made personal recommendations of additional restaurants and bars to visit, as well as the shops of local designers and artists.Written August 27, 2024
- V4559GSfredd0 contributionsSunday morning Chill tourThis fascinating, intimate and relaxed tour of the changing Budapest Jewish quarter, led by Atilla was the highlight of our visit. The coffee shop bookstore was the most quiet place in Budapest, except for the cheerful bird in the garden. Ruins bar farmers’ market was just my speed. Atilla followed up after the booking and before the tour. We had toured the Jewish quarter two days before with a 21 person group. Atilla pointed out many items of interest that we had missed earlier and showed us many items of street art that were not shown to the large group. Atilla also gave us advice that was helpful for the rest of our stay. A really outstanding experience. Highly recommend.Written June 24, 2023
- Alaskan_Globetrotter0 contributionsUnbelievably great Budapest experience! Our time with Attila was the highlight of our Budapest experience. The booking process was simple and efficient, and the tour was well-researched and structured perfectly. Attila is knowledgeable, friendly, entertaining, and refreshingly sincere - from the outset you can tell that he genuinely loves the funky parts of Budapest, and if you’re comfortable taking politics (we were), he’ll provide his thoughtful analysis on the state of affairs in Hungary; the good, the bad, and the ugly. This tour is worth every forint, and when we make it back to Budapest we’ll happily do it again! (side note: we told him that and he committed to designing a completely different tour for us next time!).Written June 19, 2023
- Aaron E0 contributionsamazing street art and local spotsAwesome guide. Must do if you are interested in street art, history, not-touristy ruin bars. Do not do if you want a pub crawl or head to touristy bars/eateries. Loved the bookshop he showed us.Written June 7, 2023
- kemillam0 contributionsA wonderful tour!!A hidden gem in the midst of Budapest!! Thanks to Attila for a wonderful tour with a detailed history. I highly recommend this tour.Written May 5, 2023
- martha54470 contributionsInteresting alternativeIt was fun going to see the cool spots of Budapest. We went mid afternoon which was perfect timing. As a senior, I would not want to be there when it is very crowded. Kind of cool to imagine how the apartments used to be. The food trucks actually had really good food. I just like to sit and linger. I only saw standing places.Written April 15, 2023
- jrmoore880 contributionsExcellent Excellent TourAttila was an awesome guide, really tailored the tour to your interests; i.e. architecture, history, street art, gentrification, or even a combination (we did the combination). I learned a ton about the history of Budapest and the neighborhood and enjoyed a couple beers in some very cool off the beaten path bars along the way.Written October 2, 2022
- treesaredope0 contributionsWe were looking for something different and found it!My husband and I took a tour called Underground Cultural Vibes, which was so enjoyable. Our guide, Attila, provided us with a lovely comprehensive tour of some of the lesser-travelled areas of Budapest. He was enthusiastic as he guided the discussions we had and answered our questions regarding the history of the areas we walked through. We spent time in one of the bars that is in fact a cultural hub for civil organizations, which was both a pleasant and unique experience. We also wandered into a lovely bookstore where I purchased an unconventional souvenir that I was so happy to find. I would highly recommend any of the tours from Budapestflow!Written September 25, 2022
- brightnomad0 contributionsExcellent guided tour of Budapest's coolest districtExcellent tour with the right mix of fun, learning and socialising, in the most lively district in Budapest. We learnt a lot about the local history and culture through seeing some beautiful artworks and visiting cool spots around the Jewish Quarter. Our guide Attila was very welcoming and created a friendly atmosphere within the group right from the start. There’s a stop for drinks during the tour which is a great opportunity to chat to everyone else (especially when you travel solo) and we also got a lot of valuable local travel tips from Atilla.Written July 31, 2022
- mauricew9470 contributionsAmazing Tour!Fantastic walking tour with Atilla. We were booked in for the Jewish quarter and graffit art tour. There were five of us in our group making it much more personal. This tour will certainly not disappoint. Atilla was full of chat, humour, lots of information and had so much passion for the history and culture. We had a little break in a quaint bookshop serving a selection of coffee and cold drinks. Thank you Atilla for making our trip so memorableWritten June 29, 2022
- Hardeep G0 contributionsFun walking tour with great peopleOn my first day of Budapest I wanted to see the Jewish quarter as I'd heard this was a must-do activity. Attila's ruinpub tour was perfect for seeing all the main sights, visiting some funky bars, understanding the culture and history of the Jewish quarter, and getting good recommendations of local places to eat. Was also fun having a drink with Attila and the other participants towards the end of the tour. In short, I'd recommend this tour to tourists looking for culture and historyWritten March 26, 2019
- Passenger8157250 contributionsPrivate tour of RuinpubsAttila was an excellent guide. Although the evening was cold, I was thankful for the tour and was happy the tour was arranged, despite me being a solo tourist. I tend to be more on the introverted side of things, so the solo trip may not have been the best for Attila. He was a very knowledgeable guide and I enjoyed the known and personal history he shared about the areas of Budapest. He was enthusiastic about the tour and areas visited. I appreciated his patience with me as I'm sure I wasn't his most talkative or exciting tour. One to let things sink in, I greatly appreciate the sights and knowledge about the areas and enjoyed seeing how gentrification in Budapest compares to gentrification happening in the United States.Written December 3, 2018
- evrthgsawsm0 contributionsAnother amazing tour with AttilaThis was my second tour with Attila. We visited Budapest's District VIII. Attila surprised me with many interesting details about this fast-changing part of Budapest. What I value most about his tours is that he knows everything there is to know about the perfect little hidden parts of the city, and he also shows you the history of it on the go. He showed us pictures of the district before gentrification, so we could compare them to the current situation (a real-life before and after!) and explained how the changes have affected the locals. I can assure you he will spare no detail when answering your questions about any and all things Budapest. I really can not compliment Attila and this tour enough. It is something different, but yet so interesting and definitely worth your time! If you want to see the city through the eyes of the local (and a very interesting one, at that!), you simply must go on this tour. I promise you, it will surely be your favorite part of the trip.Written October 11, 2018
- Joseptraveler0 contributionsGreat genuine insider tourAtilla, designed this tour in a very interesting way. He is originally from Budapest and knows many interesting and fun facts about the city, the Jewish quarter, Hungarian history and its current situation. We had the opportunity to see many different aspects of the area. Atilla is not only very well prepared, but also extremely friendly and looking after all the members of the group. Our group was small (7 people), which made the visit even better and personalized. Definitely a tour worth doing.Written October 10, 2018
- Martha M0 contributionsIntimate, fascinating tour exactly as promised!Attila is a man who has knowledge of, wisdom about, and passion for his city. I took the tour of the 8th district, and it was fascinating to learn about a neighborhood in the midst of seismic change. From stopping to explain the political message behind a sticker posted on a street pole to a visit to the current hub of cultural and artistic movements in the neighborhood, this tour is exactly as promised. Also, I was in a small group I basically got to have a 3 hour conversation with someone who knows so much about the city and it's life. Would recommend this tour for anyone who likes to notice what no one else seems to.Written June 30, 2018

Attila's very knowledgeable and passionate about street art and it shows. He takes good care of those on his tours, making sure everyone's questions were answered and everyone's ok with the tour pace.
I went on 2 tours with him - one on Street Art and another on Mini Statues. I really enjoyed both and would highly recommend them.
He not only remembers everyone's names but also everything you've mentioned to him. The tours felt very personalised and interactive, it was excellent value for money.
Thank you for making my visit to Budapest so memorable :)

Hands down the most enjoyable and truly informative experience I’ve had in Budapest. No boring facts you could read in a book. Instead a delightful journey through history to present time through the eyes of various street artists. If you take one tour while in Budapest, make this it. It’s also a very intimate tour with no more than eight, so you really have a chance to ask questions and get to know the city.

This Street Art Tour with Attila from Budapest Flow was awesome! I learned so much. Attila has lived in the area (former Jewish ghetto) since before it started being revitalized/gentrified and grew up under communism. He was able to explain some of the nuances and history of pieces that I just would never have understood or been able to appreciate otherwise.
Loved the combo of sanctioned murals, paste ups, stickers, tags and more. We had great conversations and saw so much more than “just” street art (and I’m kind of obsessed with street art). Was introduced to the work of @misskk_budapest, @0036mark, @okudart and more who I can now follow and appreciate their art from afar!!
We also went to a couple of ruin pubs, a cool bookstore/coffee shop, and he showed me some recommendations for shopping from vintage stores, local artists/makers instead of just mass produced stuff.
Would absolutely do another tour with Budapest Flow if I’m lucky enough to return to Budapest. I wish I’d also signed up for the Kolodko mini statue tour as well, but found Attila's blog post on the Kolodko statues incredibly helpful in creating my own mini self-guided tour.

Street art is often the quickest and most insightful way into an understanding of what is really going on in a country or city. This was no exception. Atilla was a well informed and perceptive guide, who gave us an eloquent introduction to and an intelligent interpretation of the treasures on display in this lovely and fascinating city.

This tour was the absolute highlight of my 5 and a half days in Budapest. Not only do you get to take in all of the beautiful sights, you also get a better understanding of the meanings behind all of the street art, and how life in the Jewish quarter was during WWII. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone - especially those interested in history, street art, and the alternative side of Budapest. Attila is super knowledgeable, and very accommodating. I broke my foot a few months before coming to Budapest, and he was constantly checking in to see if I needed to rest or if the pace was ok. He was also happy to give personal recommendations for what to do with my remaining time in the city! Highly recommend this tour if you’re coming to Budapest!

Atilla's tour was the highlight of our time in Budapest! His ability to share the history, culture, context and current scene brought the murals, stickers, paste-ups and more to life for us. We found him to be both incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely a delight to spend an afternoon with. Sharing a coffee in a local cafe, while having a relaxed chat was a lovely way to step out of the rain. We're looking forward to exploring more of this wonderful city with Atilla on our next trip to Budapest.

Attila was an amazing guide—friendly, full of energy and information, and easy to talk to. He gave us many tips on the history, context and cool happenings around the area. We would definitely recommend this tour to friends and will contact him for the other offerings he has! My kids (15 and 13) said it was their favorite part of the whole trip.

Fantastic tour, Attila was informative and engaging. The tour was nit rushed and we felt we saw a true view of the area. We learnt about the history and culture from a person who lived through it and in it. I would highly recommend this tour and Attila.
